Random Musings – Lindsay Lohan as Sailor Moon?
Here’s one of those rumor-stories that greatly disturbs me, and I hope it never comes true:
We were recently passed on the information that a Japanese Magazine titled Animage, in their current issue, announced that Fox has acquired the rights to the popular anime series SAILOR MOON and is looking to Joss Whedon to presumably write and direct a live action film. Further, they’re hoping Miss Can’t Keep Her Genitals Inside Her Clothes herself Lindsay Lohan will star alongside Jennifer Garner (as the main villain) in an all non-Asian cast.

Wow, I am not a Sailor Moon fan… but that is just an awful idea. I can not stand Lindsay Lohan… and the thought of an anime movie with an all non-Asian cast just sickens me.

o_0;;;; Err…why??? And Fox of all companies? I really hope this is just a rumor because Sailor Moon’s name has been reduced as it is in the US because people think it’s a kids show. This is only going to make it worse.
Somehow this is like that Bandi Sailor Moon promo from a few years ago come true except much scarier.

The idea of Sailor Moon Live Action itself is sickening. Ones like GTO were good because it didn’t use any fantasm, but Sailor Moon? My god, even trillion words from the wiset could not express how awful it would be.
If this rumor turns out to be true, I’d laugh hysterically at Lindsay. That’d prove how much of a money > pride & dignity whore she is.

Well Sailor Moon Live Action has already been done; it’s called Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and I actually watched the first 20 or so episodes. I’m surprised I even go through that much (hint: Luna was played by a stuffed animal)…
And if that made me cringe, I can only imagine how bastardized an english version would be.

I am glad to burst this bubble. This was a rumor started late last year by a few fanatical Sailor Moon fans from a Japanese Mag. Fox has since denied any plans on making a Sailor Moon LA movie. They said they had no intrest in re-aquiring the Sailor Moon License.

Joss Whedon+Lindsay Lohan+Sailor Moon+ Fox = well honestly I don’t know… your taking one of the better paranormal writers with a whore, with an anime cartoon, with Fox, even doing the math something just doesn’t add up.
Thank god this is just a rumor, it sounds completely redictualous to even conister this to be real but if it was I’m paranormaly wondering wtf it’d end up being like.

wow… talk about a HORRIBLE REALITY!!! sailor moon into an americanized movie? yuk. to who ever got the idea of this i’m gonna “shove bloody steak down thier throats and starving mutts up thier arse!!!!” this is a HORRIBLE idea!!!! in my opinion anime should stay anime not get transform into a huge icky movie people will hate alot. well i don’t know about you people but no way in hell am i gonna see that movie, no sir! i’ll rather see BAA (battle Angel alita) which shiuld be a killer movie if they put it into trilogy, if its not a trilogy then it will probably be horrible!!!!!!

Good grief the end of days FOX is in dire need of a hostile take over they pollute the airwaves with right wing propaganda and now seek to defile an anime pioneer. LOL @ White Sailor Moon Movie. An english version could never be pulled off in the same manner due to the Japanese… um… tendancies? Don’t really know how to describe it…
I haven’t seen live action like the GTO ones, but yes I’m in the minority having seen all of PGSM. I don’t know how I enjoyed it really since the cats are stuffed animals (later, early on they’re computerized) and the concept (of the stuffed animals) is just silly… the fight scenes consist of cartwheels and the like with some graphics here and there. On the other hand, the characters have a different take on their story of trying to find the princess.
The other live action stuff would be the musicals, which aren’t just limited to Sailor Moon (SeraMyu). Bleach has some stuff out I think (the captains’ outfits and hairstyles are awesome), Prince of Tennis as well. Every time I watch the musicals I think, “Damn, they would make GREAT cosplayers!”

For any of people who wished that this rumor is false (including myself), your prayers have been answered. A post on AnimeNewsNetwork.com said that it was a false romor circulating on blogs and other sites. The scriptwriter for this false movie is actually working on another project, a live-action adaptation of Wonder Woman.

We read your post. We ignored it because you speak in 13-year-old English with a tendency to write in ALL CAPS WHICH IS NOT PROFESSIONAL, and you give no sources.
And what you say doesn’t make sense. Fox has never had a Sailor Moon license, how can they say anything about REaquiring it? (The Fox tv network had the broadcast rights to the first two seasons of the animation, the _license_ for which was actually owned by DiC Entertainment, but that has nothing to do with Fox’s filmmaking divisions or the license you would need to aquire to make a brand new film based on the series.)
To summarize, there’s just no reason for anyone to believe you know anything about anything. Quit whining and go do some hardcore studying of the information posted on this website: http://www.albion.com/netiquette/

I don’t understand all the comments about a non-asian cast. The characters on the show were a mixture of cultures, Sabrina our main character was a blonde haired blue eyed girl. I don’t think that there would be anything wrong at all with a predominantly interracial cast because it would be very true to the show. Also I think it would bring in a larger audience if its mixed that way as well. I’m just excited that my favorite cartoon might possibly make it to the big screen. Regardless of who they get to play the roles, I’ll be first in line at the box office. :)

Sailor Moon is my childhood favourite and i would love to see an actcual movie about it, like if they did Scooby doo and Garfeild i am sure that they can do Sailor Moon. But didn’t they have a rumour that Sarah Mechell Gellar was going to play Sailor Moon that would be way cooler, and Jony Depp is sussposed to play Tuxedo Mask. Who wouldn’t want to see him in a Tux.

sailormoon wasn’t popular in U.S.A. but it was one of the anime that I love. I’m not a fan
of Linsay but making a japenese anime out of a movie is a great idea and you don’t get many of those in America. SailorMoon is the best girl cartoon on the planets. Linsay you may have got some bad comments but its a great idea. You are a good actor and a beatiful women and I’m looking foward to see your movie in theaters

That will sort of mess up the reputation. But on the other hand I would like to see a American version. If the movie or series is a good action packed films I wont have a problem but it cant be wimpy.
