Summary:

After the incident with Kajii, Sana visits Asami in the hospital to bring her some flowers and a book. Hearing Asami wonder if this was punishment, Sana tells her that she hasn’t done anything to warrant it, but Asami surprises him by admitting that she wrote the letter about Shuri and Shuusuke in the love hotel. What’s more, she reveals that she confessed her feelings to Shuri back when they were first-years. She and Shuri had originally met during the opening ceremonies in junior high, and Shuri had always been cheerful. Asami explains that she had always pretended to be a good girl when she was young, but she found the mask of being a good girl suffocating. She started wondering about her true self and if Shuri would accept her, and once she started thinking this way, she couldn’t control her feelings. When Asami confessed to her, Shuri at first thought it was a joke, but when she realized Asami was serious, she turned Asami down. Shuri had wanted to stay friends, and even though Asami didn’t think that was possible, Shuri treated her as the same as always the next day. This made Asami start to hate her because it caused Asami to feel that her feelings towards Shuri never existed, but Asami still wanted her as a friend, even if it was just for show.

This went well since Asami was used to hiding her feelings, and soon she began to feel that they really were good friends. It all changed the day Asami saw Shuri’s crying face on the Ferris wheel. This was the first time she had seen Shuri like that, and she realized that it was a face that Shuri would only show to Shuusuke. Thinking about how she had foolishly confessed and gotten hurt, what Asami had been bottling up inside of herself came out all at once. And so, she had wanted something bad to happen to the siblings and had written the letter on the day she knew they were going to the visit their mother’s grave. Asami feels that she’s good at thinking of cruel things, but that was the first time she did anything. She had also drawn the love umbrella on the chalkboard, and she didn’t regret it when she saw Shuri crying. In fact, she felt a thrill in comforting Shuri on the bus to the hospital and wanted to cause her more pain so that Shuri would show her the face that she had only shown Shuusuke. However, Asami ran to help when she saw Shuri in danger because of Kajii, and she doesn’t understand why she did it.

Sana concludes that it was because Asami wanted to save someone precious to her – these were her true feelings. Asami starts crying over this, but she gets interrupted when Shuri and Shuusuke arrive to see her. In the presence of the two of them, Asami returns to her happy self, but when it’s time for them to go, she asks to speak with Shuri alone. Sana and Shuusuke thus go out into the courtyard and chat about Sana’s relationship with Nanaka. Hearing how Sana had vowed to stay together with Nanaka, Shuusuke wholehearted approves. Shuri eventually comes running out in tears, and though Shuusuke doesn’t know what’s going on, Sana privately does. That night, Shuri’s father returns home to find his wife not around because of an apparent class reunion. He tells Shuri that her departure for London is set for this Saturday, and Shuri passes this information along to Shuusuke so that they can plan to leave before then. Shuri still has some doubts about it, but Shuusuke has made up his mind, and Shuri thanks him. When she tells her friends about going to London during lunch the next day, Sana and Aoi try to find a silver lining by saying that this won’t be goodbye forever, but Shuusuke stays oddly silent.

The twins are missing from class that afternoon, and Sana quickly figures out what’s going on after he remembers Shuusuke’s silence during lunch and how Shuusuke had liked the idea of always staying together. Following his hunch, Sana rushes out of class and runs towards the train station, arriving just in time to see the train pull into the station in front of the twins on the opposite platform. As the train leaves station with Shuusuke and Shuri onboard, Sana runs out too and bumps into Aoi’s mother on a bicycle. Borrowing the bike, he chases after the train and somehow manages to keep up with it. Shuri and Shuusuke eventually see him yell something at the train as it passes over the bridge out of town, and though they can’t hear him, Shuusuke knows what Sana said. This is because Shuusuke had said the same thing when Sana had left town all those years ago: no matter where one of them goes, they’ll be friends forever.

So, uh, raise your hand if you saw this one coming – I certainly didn’t. I underestimated the writers because I thought Asami was just going to be used to make Nanaka jealous/insecure and as a support character for Shuri. Instead, they actually gave Asami a fair amount of character development, and it was as an antagonist no less. It didn’t feel like they were intentionally trying to play up the lesbian aspect though – more that Asami was just infatuated with Shuri and did some bad things. I never expected to hear Asami sound so evil. At least it now makes sense why Asami’s silhouette is crying in the OP animation as a background to Shuri and Shuusuke. Actually, you could probably go back and make all sorts of connections to how this makes sense (like how Asami never really seemed interested in Sana romantically), but the fact remains that the writers did a heckuva job pulling off a surprise.

Before I go any further, I have to say that, as corny as that last line of the episode sounded, it had quite an emotional impact when combined with Shuusuke crying and that great background song (the same one they play at the end of nearly every episode). Anyway, Asami’s revelation and this episode in general answered a lot of questions (who sent the letter, what Shuusuke said when Sana originally left), but it didn’t really resolve anything. In fact, it probably just adds to the list of things left to be covered because Asami now has to get some sort of conclusion along with whatever happens to Shuri and Shuusuke. Of course, that’s assuming they want a satisfactory ending for all the major characters and not just Sana and Nanaka in the final two episodes. I can’t help but wonder if there’ll be enough time to fit everything in, particularly if Shuri and Shuusuke end up making a return.

  1. HOLY CRAP!……. wow…. just wow….

well at least they’ve managed to surprise us with something extremely unexpected.

Im starting to think at the end they all will have a 5 years later reunion again except with Shuu and Shuri coming back

  2. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, that was a unexpected. Dang, Asami is one of the hotter girls in this anime too. Dang, I wonder how the hell the games going to work with this. Keep her lesbian, make her straight, or make her bi X_x.

  3. First, incest. Now, lesbian. can’t guess what coming next.

I wanna know what loli girl will act after she know this.
Wait!!! she just turn toward Sana. Isn’t she?

BTW, what’s a name of big boob, childish voice. We haven’t seen much about her yet.
For now, she seem like only one who still have normal mind.Except she seem to have some problem too in this pic.

  4. The topic of Sana’s watch wasn’t mentioned/discussed…I wish to know his past with the watch.

To add to the rumor mill: notice that Sana and Nanaka’s eyes are the same color (red). What could this hold for future episodes?

  5. Well, I didn’t see that coming.

I knew she was tied to the twins because in the game site, Asami is a character for Shuusuke’s path (there’s two main characters to pick from, Sana and Shuu).

But I had no clue it’d be this, wow.

  6. WTF?! Asami a lesbo?! Since the game is still up to mid month, I expect that they change that fact.

Well, that was totally unexpected, even more with the “Nanaka bitch-slapped Asami” image that was posted on the web for a 3-way final battle. So, the final two eps will be NanakaxSana and hopefully, we’ll know about Sana’s past also.

  7. Ok…. What the hell……..
    Asami a lesbian……….
Im ready for everything now. I guess school days really setted up a new kind of setting here 😛

    @sushi
If she really dies, I’ll send a complain letter to both the visual novel and anime developers 😛

  8. Ummmm……huh. O.o

Y’know, there was actually somebody on Animesuki who speculated that it was Asami who had sent the letter, albeit not for the reason that it turned out to be. He/she had thought that Asami was jealous of the relationship Shusuke and Shuri had, but I didn’t take the idea seriously to consider an offshoot of it……

Holy crap. So that’s the “confession.” @_@

  9. -blinks then just snuffs out his smoke-
Now son of a gun, First the twincest, which by the way took somethine of a backseat. now the lesbo thing? What the heck? I’ll give props to them for going all out and making chars who are realistic (to a degree) but we seriously dont need episode of “Oh lets give this person drama” and so on I know they are going and trying to do the character arcs, but this kind of rushed action is seriously getting ingrating…

    Gah!
…I need some mindless holiday special…
    now

  10. Tsk Tsk Tsk! What a dam waste! Asami was pretty cool too and would’ve made a great rival for the other girls, and now she’s just some psychotic lesbian; seriously Sana go make her straight!

Still that aside, it’s quite ironic that Sana who ran away from something in his past in order to go back to his hometown where he had his happy times now becoming chaotic. I mean besides from knowing that Nanaka changed so much due to an accident and now his two other best friends are going off. Man oh man, this show is just full of drama and suspense.

Now I wonder what will happen in the future episodes, I mean I had honestly thought that Shuri and Shuusuke would expose their step mom and make their dad realize his mistake, but man I guess from the last episode I sort of realize that they would just escape. Kind off a blackhole or loophole for me since there were episodes in which was focussed about the issue of the step mom and the dad, and now the resolution is just escaping, it is kinda weak IMO. Anyways can anyone tell me what the title of the preview is???

  11. Dam you Asami! Why the hell did she turn out like this lol?! I cant believe she deceived us all along, where her situations with Sana and she was blushing at times too! Man and I was hoping she would beat the other girls and just grab for the win (Sana) which would be quite unexpected already, but this is just a complete 180 turn.

    Nagasumi
  12. Maybe she is bi and not lesbian 100%. It would explain the blushing in regards to Sana.

But that aside, at least this is SOMETHING for her character. She was NEVER set asa rival to Nanaka, don’t let the misunderstandings Nanaka had early on fool you. Sana never say her that way, so it was never a love triangle to begin with.

But hey, I like a good twist like this, so I think this episode is great. The thing I didn’t expect was the twins actually giving up and running away. To me that’s pathetic. Stay and fight guys! If you up and run away from your problems/pain you’ll never get over them.

Anyways, now with these 3 characters outta the way, the last 2 eps look to be all Sana and Nanaka, so I’m really looking forward to them.

  13. @AL

That’s what it looks like from the shots, they’re on the train and Sana is the one yelling at Shuu this time around.

As I said before, I think this is the wrong thing for them to do. But oh well.

    GP
  14. Great. She just *had* to have psycho lesbian written all over her for this, that’s too bad… it really is sad to see that she’s the one who blackmailed the twins and made things difficult for them, but that’s how it goes I guess.

Looks like the twins are on a train going out of town, wherever that is. Next episode is what, Nanaka’s memories then? It would be ideal if they could somehow get part of Sana’s past in with that – this is only 13 episodes right? o_O So fast… and what else could happen out of left field? Uh oh.

Whoever said something about Sana and Nanaka having the same eyes – that crosses my mind on occasion, albeit not very seriously, maybe just like a character design coincidence… and they’d look good together. Though the only way they would *completely* ruin the show is if they say those two are related – bastard child or whatnot. All this other crap they keep pulling is pretty screwy, but just don’t let them do that… please…

  15. OHHHH DAMN!! Asami was soooooo cooooolll. Now, she turned to be a lesbian and a psycho LOLL. Wow. I think this anime just wins this Fall season (well its one my favourite until now)!

  17. lesbian? shock shock shock. another shock shock shock! O_O OMG! We weren’t able to notice.! that’s right the way she looked at Shuri, when they were on the wheel thinging in the park; when she saw Shuri cried. shock shock

  18. I’m glad Shuri left with her brother now they can have a happy life elsewhere Away from evil father, sluty stepmother and especially away from that crazy lesbian. Now the stepmother is going to dump the father and take all his money. Then the father will be all alone and wish he never did bad things to his children and at the end he will shoot himself.
Next week episode looks good I hope we get to know more about sana’s past. This is one of those shows I just want to see the end because the wait is killing me…

    Hugo
  19. well, it is official now! There will be twincest! those two staying together in the same room with all these emotions about Asami and Sana, SEX is the best way to deal with them and there will be TWINCEST!

I congratulate the few people that suspected Asami and It caught me off guard! That gesture Asami did in the bus should have given me a hint, but the lesbian thing was unexpected.

  20. This episode just made it the best series of the season. Period. Now I’m starting to believe the guy who speculated that the wristwatch is some communication device for some alien species or secret agent and Sana’s “Mom” is really the head of The Agency.

    ionartemis
  21. WTF!!! Asami…about Shuri….the letter..WWWTTTFFF!!

That was really suprising, and what I was always expecting about this show; drama, twists, this kind of stuff. I don’t think Asami is a bad person, just someone who did things out of desperation(or love). The twins’ father is an asshole, and the stepmom is slime.

If they really want to go crazy on the plot: the person who burned down Nanaka’s house, and attempted to KILL her………….. was Aoi! (or maybe not, but something that’s equally exciting).

Damn, can’t wait for the next episode!

    Dm
  22. …hey…maybe this show deliberately will not give any of the characters a satisfying conclusion and leave everyone of them broken to pieces…

Then the moral and underlying message of the story would be “do go and try to recapture your already vanished childhood.” How awesome would that be?

    Zzz...
  23. wow…..Asami seemed so nice when she was introduced in the beginning…..now knowing that she was just pretending to be good, and upsetting Shuri just to see that sad look of hers…..Man that just sucks!

    AL
  24. good job on the part of the producers, i think everyone was surprised with the exeption of the few conspiracy makers that threw the idea of Asami being the culprit. We really got set up with the stepmother scene. I think all will be ok, most likely the stepmother is found out to be having an affair and the father loses the election, the twins return and shuuri doesn’t have to go to london.

    golthin
  25. Man, Asami did really fooled me. I didn’t expect that she turn out to be a lesbian that she was in love with Shuri. And I didn’t expect that she started the letter about the twins and drew the love umbrella. She did really fooled us with her outward, quiet sweet smile by using this very own mask of hers to fool others, which I thought that she could be Nanaka’s love rival to win Sana’s heart. I congratulate to the writers who wrote this episode which indeed “came out of left field”.

It gets even better in every episode.

    Ren90270
  26. HAHA the first five minutes were insane, that plot twist came out of nowhere. This whole episode was so intense, best episode of myself;yourself by far.

Twincest > Yuri?? Blasphemy! Now there’s a crazy love triangle where Asami likes Shuri who likes Shuusuke…who likes Sana? (That last bit was more than just a little gay) Can’t wait to see how everything turns out.

    lost
  27. @Golthin

Hey, what gesture did Asami do on the train? What episode are you talking about because I don’t remember. If that was a hint that she was a lesbian then I missed it. It just seemed like she was a good friend who was worried about Shuri until this episode. But yeah, a plot twist is a plot twist because you don’t expect it.

    GP
  28. Oh wait, nevermind. I just remembered.

Anyways, 2 episodes left, Not much time to get a good conclusion to the twins or anything more for Asami. I think the writers will just leave it like this, and maybe in the final ep do a little time jump to show the group back together again when they’re a bit older. Though this does sound kinda corny. The best thing would be another 13ep season if you want to get more of the twins story going. But somehow I don’t think that’ll happen. Maybe a short OVA though?

Anyways, next two eps should be the Nanaka and Sana parts, and it looks like Nanaka is first. They’ll probably show parts of Sana’s past as they relate to whatever Nanaka is going though probably.

It’s a shame that we’ll probably not get to see the stepmother get kicked out, or the father made a fool of and lose the election. Pitty I say.

    GP
  29. huah..
    a lesbian?
you must be kidding me.. hmm??
get kicked out? lose the election?
is there somekind of light novel bout it?
i want to see what will happen next..
i rather see the Nanaka & Sana parts..

    Hoho..
  30. I’m guessing Asami was hoping that with all this happening Shuri would distance herself from Shuusuke. With Shuri spending more time alone and probably feeling depressed about the whole affair Asami could have stepped in to confort her. She could have used that chance to try and get together with Shuri (when you’re depressed you can make stupid decisions sometimes).

If that plan would have worked Asami would have been happy. Of course we know it all went to hell and it’s going for twincest after all XD

    Ties
  31. @Ties

Not really, but that is part of it. She did want to get them apart, but she wanted Shuri to suffer like she has also. When she saw Shuri crying she got mad, cuz Shuri was never her real self around Asami, just like I Asami hasen’t been. So basically, she’s like screw it, i’ve been suffering it’s your turn.

Hell, seeing how Shuri runs out of the hospital crying more, looks like Asami got what she wanted more or less.

  32. “anyway..
why is Sana afraid of blood?
    i wanna know about Sana’s past…
    can’t wait..”

They have to show Sana’s past within these two episodes OR they might carry them over for a possible (and I mean it loosely) second season, which that would suck if they do.

    …And don’t Sana’s wrist watch, too.

    Ren90270

  34. well, there is the option of nanaka beeing the arsionist of the fire,
but the real real question is: she needed the help of sana before the fire!!! (remember the episode of the red mail box, the letter…) so what was the problem she had with her mother/father. and besides her uncle may know the answers (if the arsionist of the fire it’s not himself)

    valthunder
  35. This show never seemed to amuse me, excluding the part wherein the scene where Sana and Asami was captured cuddled together within the dark and gloomy space surrounded by freaking trees; and miss Nanaka spots them.

Other than that, this series doesn’t look to good, at least not for the last two episodes. It would be quite difficult pulling off a satisfactory ending. They’ve already shown us with what they can do, which in my opinion was filled with rubbish plots—very boring. Assuming they can do better with the remaining episodes, It would bring my hopes back for future releases from other studios with relative style of telling stories. But then again, I doubt it.

    So~ long…

    andynai
  36. Well I guess the cast won’t be forming a band and play in the spring festival any time soon…

Now I really want to go play the game now to how messed up the Shuri storyline can get.

You know, I was thinking in that Asami had a important purpose since the “other girl” plot line resolved too quickly and, in jest, I thought that she could be like an evil character. Who knew? Then again I was thinking along the same lines with the teacher and Hinako…but not Aoi…hmmm.

valthunder: well, there is the option of nanaka being the arsonist of the fire

That crossed my mind too. Her uncle’s reluctance/apprehension in Nanaka’s regaining of her memories might indicate that he his trying to protect her from her memories. Him being the perpetrator seems too obvious that it has “Red herring” written all over it. I’m curious as to what role her parent had to give Nanaka that brief flashback a few episodes ago.

    crazydumbek
  37. Well, that was……unexpected. The shock was actually double for me as I had gotten the names of the twins mixed up and at first thought that she felt that Shuri was keeping Shu away from her. Still a shock that such an innocent girl (her evil face scares me) would do such a thing. Of course, when I realised my error, the jaw just fell further.

I agree that the 2nd part and ending was a tad corny, but still very emotional. Anyways, looking forward to next episode as its back to the main couple and I’m desperate as to what is the story of Sana’s watch. With only 2 eps left, hope they can fit it in; I still think they did too many Hinako-centred episodes even though they were fun to watch.

    FX102
  38. Actually, none of us know. Myself; Yourself comes from the novel. A prolouge and six chapters, one on each of the girls. So Aoi and Hinako have more plot with them. I guess the producers choose the stories that would have the most impact. Nanakas, Shuri’s and possilby Asami (asami’s part in the show may have just been part of Shuri’s story).

Still it’s shameful, as much as I loved the character development and plot twist, I really wished that Asami didn’t turn lesbo. I guess I’ll just have to wait to hear story plots from the game. Oh yeah, if you noticed the intro, the crying girl in red right after Shuri and Shuusuke was Asami. Shit, I should have noticed that.

Btw, watch the epilouge be a nice ending with them doing a spring concert.

    Sora no Kaze
  39. lol LESBOS FTW
yea….. this script is sooo out of there..
its like a jerry springer season: one day lesbians, the next day twincest, the next day prositution

im willing to bet that aoi is a prositute and will reveal that soon enough

im pretty sure its not the uncle, cuz the ebb of the anime wont go like that
the man in the fire could be her uncle, trying to save her ass
then again, it could be her father, and i guess he lost a bet or somethin and the loser have to burn the house

all hail the voices in our schizophrenic minds

    Lesbos4tw
  40. Final two episodes…

If they able to fool us with Asami maybe this would be the possible scenario.

    Secrets unlocked…

Nanaka burned her house due to quarelling with her parents and escaped through the window along with her precious violin, mailbox key, and Sana’s flower bracelet. Upon hitting her head and broke her arm. Her uncle is the witness of what event have happened.

Sana accidentally stabbed one of his friends which gets in the way upon some fight. With the hints of having someone to protect and the watch given by that person keeps him remind of it. Staring at the bloodied knife makes him remember it and starts to break apart. His
mother sent him to his recent village to forget about it and always talk to him whenever he is doing fine.

Well if this certain possible events won’t happen then the ones that created this anime are something.

    arigatou
  41. Hey I wonder what kind of twisted ending they’ll do to surprise us lol? I mean so far I’ve have been way off from my expectations, so well I’ll guess the kinds of surprises they may pull for us that way it wont be too unexpected for me lol.

I would say the issue of Sana and Nanaka that have same eyes may be related (I for one truly hope not) but they might do it to screw around, then Sana dumps Nanaka and goes to Asami turning her straight. Nanaka gets pissed off at the both of them, then we have a showdown of both Nanaka and Asami, the apparent evil characters on the show so far. Nanaka all of a sudden gets traumatized by all the blood spilling off from them, and confesses whatever secret he was hiding, much to his dismay the girls continue fighting anyway. Then all of a sudden the twins comes back to break off the two of them and they all made up. In the end Aoi mentions that this was all part of her master plan!

Hmm i wonder if that’s twisted enough.

    ExiaMeister
  42. Oh ya I forgot, after Aoi mentions her master plan, they all think they should do a concert at school to celebrate their reunion, no matter how screwed it was. Then there we have our opening.

    ExiaMeister
  43. Um no. The Nanaka/Sana thing will be solved next episode in some messed up twisted way, but that is not the real story.

This is all an evil twisted plot of Yuzuki. The caramels that she passes out are laced with a hallucinogenic drug that make people do crazy stuff. In the end she will send out letters to everyone that say “Life is effed up. Why don’t you have a rock band fore the spring festival to make things better?” The main characters will gladly do it even though all except for one person showed no indication that they play a musical instrument.

Note that in the opening you see the rock band playing happily to a crowd while Yuzuki smiles (menacingly?) down at them from a window above. What you don’t hear is the horrible sound of the band and the screams of the crowd that is torn between “Get these no-talent bastards off the stage” and “Dang! Cute girls bouncing in front of me!” What you don’t see is Yuziki’s hand clinging to a detonator hidden in her purse and Hinako frantically trying to get to the stage to warn her friends of the bomb below the stage.

    The End.

    crazydumbek
  44. Wow, that was a plot twist. Made me cry my eyes out.

And for those not liking it and using words like incest/lesbian, I dont like your word choice and I think you misunderstand it. To me its far more beautiful than that.
