「爆熱少女マジカルキョーコ炎」 (Bakunetsu Shoujo Majikaru Kyooko Fureimu)
“Bursting Fever Magical Kyoko Flame”

Episode at a Glance:
After learning that the afro inflicting General Mojack is attempting to take over the world, Kirisaki Kyoko takes it upon herself to stop him and changes into Magical Kyoko Flame. However, after doing so, she gets arrested for not abiding by fire laws and gets extorted for personal pleasure. While changing back to her normal clothes, the police chief discovers her true identity, so Kyoko agrees scorch him like he wants. On their way to somewhere more private, they run into Mojack taking public transit again, except this time he’s brought his mother along to yell at Magical Kyoko. Upon seeing the police chief’s blinding baldness though, Mojack gives him an afro and appears to have a change of heart after seeing how happy he made someone. Ikemen-senpai then comes running along with the homeless man he inadvertently peeped on earlier chasing after him, who turns out to be Mojack’s father. After explaining how he was discarded by the woman he tried running off with, Mojack’s father gets beaten by Mojack’s mother, but Mojack begs her to forgive him. His mother then reveals she had a thing for the guy at the pachinko parlor, who turns out to be Ikemen-senpai’s Aniki. Everyone then breaks out in a song and dance, but Mojack uses this opportunity to attack Kyoko again and the police chief arrives with a firetruck, causing all hell to break loose.

Back in the real world, Lala comments on how moving Magical Kyoko was this week, but Rito is bored to death.

Impressions:
So in this week’s episode of To-LOVE… err… Magical Kyoko Flame, our heroine Kirisaki Kyoko saves the world from an afro villain, who plans to take over the world by being overly polite to people before transforming their hair into afros. Yes, you read that right. Anyway, this episode was far from being one of the best ones in this series, but it was a lot better than the stuff they’ve been showing recently. The reason being is that the entire episode of Magical Kyoko Flame was basically a parody on everything magical girl. Because of this, it was fairly entertaining and I actually found myself laughing at times, mainly due to its mockery of trademark magical girl aspects, such as transformations. In Kyoko’s case though, her transformation was basically finding a private spot to undress and change, which easily allowed her to be discovered by a stranger, forcing her to dart off into the closest public washroom. Naming the male character that the magical heroine adores Ikemen (i.e. good-looking guy) and making him perverted and questionably homosexual was also a nice humorous touch, as was making the police chief (i.e. the high school principal of To LOVE-Ru) a kinky masochist.

I’m not sure what to make of next week’s episode, other than the fact that it takes place at an alien hotel and Yami is gets violated like there’s no tomorrow. Yami is always entertaining to watch though, given how much she hates perverts, so hopefully it’ll turn out better than I’m expecting. Also, Oshizu makes an appearance again, which is a nice treat for Noto Mamiko fans if nothing else.

  1. sorry, but this series is getting worse – I did not like this episode at all (and there were the other failure episodes – the transgender aliens or the furry episode)

not really sure if I will keep on watching this one

  2. This episode was OK… i guess. Honestly, I’m kinda hoping this show would start using a plot cuz it’s getting kinda boring… i AM anticipatingon seeing Oshizu, since I am somewhat of a Noto Mamiko fan~

  3. Is it me or are majority of the episodes in the series mostly originals.Except for the introductions of main characters and villains, I can’t remember most of these episodes ever happening in the manga.Although that’s a good thing to keep me interested to finish an episode it’s beginning to get boring.I don’t think they animated even 1/4 of the manga yet.

  4. im watching this being a fan of the manga, but im not complaining cause i knew that there was no way for them to fit the manga in to 24-26 episode, so i already accepted the flaws, but seeing lala, and others talk and move about is fun so who cares, at the end of the day i can count on the manga to continue the story for me….. as for todays episode doesnt lala force rito to this in the manga several times

  5. so the anime artists have just basicly thrown out the manga entirely except the character intro eps. I mean seriously why couldnt they put atleast some of the Manga chapters into anime form.

That being said this is probably the best and most fitting anime only ep so far since lala HAS to watch every ep of this anime and is very hard to pull away while watching it.

but still compared to the manga 75% of this anime is crap 🙁 I was really having high hopes for seeing certain manga chapters animated. If you havent read the manga before please do you will see how much funnier and how much better it is compared to the anime.

  6. Hmmm, this ep wasn’t so bad, but it did give me an odd feeling while watching it. It felt like I was watching a totally different show. Even the intermssion was changed from Lala to a Kyouko lol. Next week’s ep looks ecchirific

  8. One thing I found funny about this episode is that if it was an h-show, when the chief figured out her identity… Well, you know the rest. But put the fire breathing mgical girl aside, BECAUSE NEXT WEEK IS YAMI!!!!
