「…おに~さん☆」 (…Oni~san☆)
“…Big Brother☆”

Episode at a Glance:
Upon being asked about dates by her friends, Mika reveals a little too much information and overwhelms everyone with her explicit depiction. On her way home, she talks to Nanami about how she’s never even been on the date, seeing as her only interaction with males is restricted to her father and Yuuto. She then hears about how Yuuto is spending the day with Haruka in her room and decides to spy. Back at home, Gentou’s restless about leaving Yuuto alone with Haruka in her room, but Akiho reminds him how he agreed to trust her and not interfere. Mika and Nanami on the other hand, misunderstand what they hear outside of Haruka’s room, so they barge in only to find the two of them making hot cakes. They then invite everyone to have some, during which Mika notices that the two of them just chat about a bunch of irrelevant things and that their relationship hasn’t progressed at all. Because of this, she gets Nanami to help her teach Yuuto what it’s like to be in a relationship and inconspiculously calls him out on Sunday. While confused, Yuuto shows up at the station on the appointed day and time, where Mika tells him that he’s taking her out on a date. At a cafe, she tells Yuuto that she’s going to give him some tips so that he can take the initiative in his relationship with Haruka, which he agrees to go along with.

For the remainder of the day, Mika teaches Yuuto when to hold hands and how to behave in a movie theater, amongst other things, before telling him that he’s going to meet up with Haruka at the fireworks festival later tonight. The two of them then bump into Shiina and find out that she’s also on her way to the festival, but Mika drags Yuuto away after seeing how friendly getting with her, tells him there’s a change of plans, and takes him to shop to buy their own yukatas. She also teaches him when to compliment a girl’s appearance, before the two of them head to the festival and enjoy all the food and game stands. When the fireworks start, Yuuto offers to piggyback Mika so that she can see the fireworks better, making her comment on how he’s ready to improve things with Haruka. Surprising her, Yuuto apologizes to Mika for burdening her with teaching him all these things, so she claims its her own fault for dragging him out, but thanks him for showing her a fun time on her first date. He thanks her in return, making Mika flustered by how kind he is, when Haruka shows up with Hazuki and Nanami. Using his newly acquired pointers, Yuuto is quick on complimenting on how nice Haruka looks, after which Nanami quietly tells Mika how she seemed to have a lot of fun today and how this is the first time she’s seen her like this. Embarrassed, Mika diverts Yuuto’s attention back to the fireworks.

Back at school following the summer break, Yukari informs the class that she was dumped just three days ago and cries her eyes out for a bit. Shen then recomposes herself and announces the upcoming culture festival, which she needs a male and female class representative for. No one volunteers though except Shiina, so Yukari nominates Yuuto to be the male representive. Influenced by class’ pressure and Shiina’s request for help, Yuuto agrees and everyone applauds Shiina’s “First Move is a Certain Kill” 「先手必殺」 motto, including Haruka.

Impressions:
A surprisingly entertaining episode that mainly revolved around Mika and her growing feelings towards Yuuto (as much as a little sister can), and the funniest parts were all the suggestive scenes. The conversation between Haruka and Yuuto making hot cakes was hilarious with lines like, “It’s embarrasssing when it’s become like this”, “Let me see it better”, “You can’t, thats…”, “How’s mine?”, “It’s really big”, “Haruka’s too, when it’s this hot”. I couldn’t stop laughing for the majority of that scene and for good reason. Also, in the cafe when the ridiculously oversized sundae started to topple over, Mika’s eyes met with Yuuto’s in a “heated” stare that ended up with some (ice) cream on her face. Last but not least had to be Mika mumbling about “Onii-san” doing this and that to her when she fell asleep in the movie theater, putting Yuuto in a pretty awkward predicament. Ah, what great material. I wonder what they’ll come up with next? =)

While Shiina didn’t have a huge role this time around, it’ll be interesting to see how Haruka handles Yuuto spending more time with now. Given how he’s quick to resolve problems, I don’t foresee too much being misunderstood and getting out of hand, but hopefully something will in order to provide a little bit of drama.

  2. Good stuff this episode.

Really, though, series is almost over and there’s still a few maids to go through, as well as more on the parents. We barely got to see them. They better dish out some OVAs or something.

  5. Great episode. I wonder how they are going to play the ShiinaxYuuto angle next episode.

On the other hand, I totally LOLed when they said “Ginga no rekishi ga, mata ichi page” at the end of the preview.

  6. I doubt that Yuuto will have any serious competition, but I believe that Shiina will cause a brief problem but he will get out of it quickly. My guess is Shinna will ask him to go shopping with her and he will agree without realising it would be a date but think it is just two friends hanging together. I believe that while he does have feelings for Haruka, he sees Shiina as a good friend. Shiina will bounce back very quickly.

  7. Since next episode is the school festival episode, I sense something coming for them characters. Yuuto and Shiina as project leaders could prove quite a rising conflict later to come, yet I’m still surprised Haruka’s still dense as ever.

Goddammit Haruka, there’s a limit on how dense you can be ARGHHH!! *sulks in emo corner* <<– LOL emo mode.
