Summary:

Setsuna accuses Ribbons of pretending to be God, but Ribbons claims that he is God. Ribbons believes that the human race will not stop fighting and will be destroyed unless he controls it, and he calls himself its savior. He compares what he’s doing to how people control animals, and he thinks that beating pure breed Setsuna cements his own value. In the ensuing battle, Setsuna is forced to evade while he waits for the Twin Drive system to charge, and when he tries to engage Ribbons at close range, he discovers that Ribbons’ new mobile suit can transform into a Gundam that has its own Twin Drive system. To make things even tougher, Ribbons gets backed up by Revive and Hiling, but fortunately for Setsuna, he gets his own help in the form of Lyle and Allelujah. With Hallelujah now as an active part of him, Allelujah goes up against Hiling and quickly tears apart her Garazzo, killing her. The Arios, however, is subsequently disabled by Ribbons. The Ptolemaios then arrives on the battlefield, and Sumeragi orders the release of a smoke screen. This gives Setsuna the opportunity to attack, and with his Innovator powers active, he actually able to do some damage to Ribbons’ Gundam. The Cherudim Gundam meanwhile is heavily damaged, but Lyle is able to make use of a one second Trans-Am to get the upper hand on and take out Revive.

Since the only opponent left is Ribbons’ Gundam, Sumeragi orders Ian to prepare to fire the R2 despite them not having a spare GN Drive. Ribbons meanwhile attributes Setsuna’s power to him having an original GN Drive, and Ribbons wants it back because otherwise his own creation would be meaningless. Tieria, however, uses Veda to tell Ribbons that their mission was not to lead mankind but to create a future with it, and he points to how Ribbons looks down on mankind as the reason why they can’t understand each other. Ribbons and Setsuna then engage their respective Trans-Am Systems, and although Ribbons scores several hits, Setsuna quantizes and manages to get a critical slash in. Unfortunately for Setsuna, Ribbons counterattacks and is able to slice off one of the 00 Raiser’s arms. This allows him to steal one of the 00 Raiser’s GN Drives, but he finds that his own Gundam has suffered too much damage to continue on. By chance, he happens upon the abandoned 0 Gundam and decides to stick the 00 Raiser’s GN Drive into it. When he returns to where the 00 Raiser is though to finish Setsuna off, he discovers that Setsuna is gone and so is the remaining GN Drive. As it turns out, Setsuna has returned to the Gundam Exia and has reinstalled its GN Drive.

The two now continue their fight on the lunar surface, and it ends with them charging at each other. Both pierce their weapons into the other’s Gundam, and it results in the 0 Gundam exploding. With the Exia having taken significant damage as well, Setsuna is knocked unconscious. Sometime later, Marina writes a letter to Setsuna to tell him her feelings. She knows that as a child soldier, he was coerced to fight and was only able to live on the battlefield. The two of them have the same desire for peace and understood each other, but Marina questions why their paths didn’t cross. She goes on to wonder about Setsuna’s own happiness even as he tries to get rid of strife in the world, and she believes that sharing one’s happiness with others and expanding that circle leads to true peace. That’s why she wants him to get a grip on his own happiness, and she’s praying that happiness comes to him. Marina then gives a speech to a large crowd touting how Azadistan was able to rebuild with the Earth Federation government’s aid, and she promises to work hard so that all countries of the Middle East get this aid. To herself and Setsuna, she promises to expand this small peace.

Elsewhere in the world, Saji is thinking to himself about how the progression of Louise’s cell disorder has been completely stopped. He wonders if it’s thanks to the light that Setsuna released, but even if he doesn’t understand it, he knows that Louise is with him now. Louise is at this moment watching the new Federation president give a speech about A-LAWS being dismantled and about the Federation army being reorganized. The new president also vows to support non-Federation countries and to promote Federation participation to establish a true Earth Federation. Shirin and Klaus are part of the audience, and they feel that the world is just now starting to change. Klaus realizes that it’s easy to talk about understanding each other and a world of peace, but they have to aim for it for the sake of the children to come. Back at the hospital, Louise wonders what will happen to the world now, and although Saji isn’t sure, what he does know is that they can’t be unaware of everything. They know the importance of peace because they also know the reality and the battles, and they need to think about the world if they really want peace.

On her wedding day, Kati gets a call from Andrei asking about Celestial Being. Kati honors them for helping beat A-LAWS, but she feels that as long as they don’t disarm, they’re seen as a threat to the current government. If Celestial Being makes a move, Kati – who’s been promoted to the rank of brigadier general – is ready to move as well. But on this particular day, what’s important is that she’s getting married to Patrick. Andrei meanwhile has been put in charge of a relief operation, and he vows to live as a soldier like his parents, protect the citizens, and fight against those who threaten peace. Billy goes back to his research, accompanied only by a photo of himself and Sumeragi, and he is visited sometimes by Graham. His uncle Homer has killed himself. Of the Gundam pilots, Lyle takes some time off to visit the graves of his family and Anew to tell them that he’s left Katharon and will live as the Gundam Meister Lockon Stratos. He feels that even if he’s shunned from the world, he’ll continue fighting, and he wants Anew to wait for him in the afterlife. Allelujah and Marie, on the other hand, have left Celestial Being to begin a journey to find the meaning of their existence. Tieria is still part of Veda, and he’s entrusted the future to mankind and will watch over them until the upcoming dialogue.

Reflecting on everything, Saji thinks that no one knows what will happen to the world, but he feels that whatever happens, happens. They can change the future and move towards the world that they want, and if they make a mistake, Saji is sure that Celestial Being will be there. At that moment, Setsuna is onboard the Ptolemaios with Sumeragi, Lockon, and the rest of the crew, and he feels that they still have something to do. As the Ptolemaios launches toward space, Setsuna thinks about how they are Celestial Being, the ones who are aiming for the eradication of war. Even if the world abandons them, they’ll continue to face off against the world, and even if they themselves have to use force, they’ll live as a deterrent. For the sake of the future, Setsuna feels that they have to continue to exist.

Movie Commercial

Apparently I was half-wrong about Ribbons’ mecha. It’s Gundam mode actually didn’t look so bad – still not intimidating, but at least it didn’t look like complete crap. And the battle between him and Setsuna turned out to be pretty good after all, especially since ending with the Exia vs. the RX-78-2 Gundam 0 Gundam was pretty cool in a throwback sort of way (though I question the intelligence of Ribbons downgrading – I guess he technically had to given the damage to his Gundam). I also enjoyed watching Hallelujah completely dominate Hiling and am glad that Revive got taken out as well. I actually thought for a moment that they might kill off Lyle or at least give him an eyepatch since his eye got all bloodied, but he ended up surviving with no problems.

This episode was a bit of a tale of two halves though. As you can tell, I enjoyed most of the battle parts, but the epilogue left something to be desired. As feared, Marina had a long monologue that lasted through most of the end of the Setsuna vs. Ribbons battle, and that segment felt like they were trying to stick too much into one short time frame. It was also disappointing that Graham didn’t appear but for a microsecond, however it was nice at least to see Patrick – immortal as always – marrying Kati. I think it really boils down to how they spent a lot of time hammering home the fact that although there’s now peace, it’s not perfect and they all have to be diligent. That’s a realistic ending, but probably not the ideal one or the most satisfying one to watch. Combine that with how Celestial Being still has things to do, and the story feels incomplete. There is of course also the fact that they advertised the 2010 Gundam 00 movie directly after the episode, so we know that there is more to come. Speaking of which, I laughed at the shot of Jupiter in the commercial. Obviously this means a Gundam 00/Geass crossover! 😀

Final Thoughts:
Gundam 00’s second season had tons of action and was an exciting ride from start to finish. In that regard, I liked it more than the first season which I thought was plagued with a slow start. However, the story definitely wasn’t as strong as it could have been. The Saji and Louise conflict was built up nicely, but the way it was concluded with Setsuna magically making things okay was a bit of a letdown. I also think they really should have done something more significant with Marina’s character aside from just making her the person who sort of understands Setsuna’s character. Even her song with the children that I thought might be significant didn’t end up having much impact at all. And so ultimately, I’d say that this was a pretty good series with some interesting characters and a few flaws, but it was definitely still worth the time spent watching. Like what I said at the end of Geass R2, this was far from perfect, however it was still a very entertaining series.

  1. Decent end for a decent series. Not great, but decent. I’d like to know about some of the loose ends that never seem to be resolved, but I guess they plan to do that in the movie.

    Where’s the FMA commercial?

    penguintruth
  2. Regarding whether that’s Ribbons in the background…I assume they’re in the Middle East with pretty much every one having dark hair. Whoever that is, he sticks out like a sore thumb…

    daco_inc
  3. By the way, just remember Tiera’s words from episode 24; they needed to unify Mankind’s will to prepare the path for their encounter with another will that they would eventually meet.

So, SUNRISE made Jupiter the key to both Code Geass and Gundam 00. I’m with you Onmi, what are they plotting here?

  4. Could’nt be ribbons in the background i think …
That green haired boy looked more muscular than little innovade ribbons 😉

By the way, Sunrise has been far more gentle with the characters than a year before, as i remember of Neil, Christina et Lichtendal being killed in the end of the season …
I mean, does anybody from the “good people” died these last episodes ?
(beside Tieria, but his mind is still alive)

Not that this lack of death is a problem, far from that 😉

  5. and so christ f seiei did his job well done now off to meet lelouch presumably hes still alive or supposed its going to be a cross over movie 2 “gods” will battle it out battle royal style

  6. Actually, I’m kinda glad that it was Exia instead of the 00 Gundam, never liked it. Lol, why does it look like Tierra’s coming back from the dead to haunt Ribbons? It’s actually quite strange to hear a Gundam 00 movie coming out 2010, when they haven’t even shown the Gundam seed movie yet…

  7. Another great episode!

I thought Regene would appear right after Tieria met Ribbons, but that didn’t happen.

Darn it, one of the 00’s GN Drive got stolen by Ribbons (for a short while). Interestingly they brought back Exia…

    Exia vs 0 Gundam

LOL first when I saw this, but it’s great to see Exia back for the last time (or not if it shows up in the upcoming movie?). I only saw 0 Gundam’s power go down and then the explosion, but didn’t see the ‘last moment’ of Ribbons. It looks like Exia’s GN Blade only went thru the upper body of 0 Gundam, not thru the torso portion where the cockpit is located. I wonder if Ribbons was able to make it (&%$#*@! if that’s the case).

Is this Anew? She didn’t die? Or was that a clone? Or none of the above? Glad to see Saji and Louise back together.

Andrei turned over a new leaf.

Patrick is really immortal, and got married with Kati. He’s a adorable character.

Billy is back to his lab. I’m surprised that he didn’t go with Sumeragi. He should know that a trip to Jupiter will take a while. Look who is there? Graham must be looking for Setsuna again, but this time he just wants to be with him to get some over-exposure of green GN particles to get his pretty face back 🙂

Why Hallelujah could be back even when 00 wasn’t in Trans-Am mode? Doesn’t matter any more as Allelujah and Marie were in a camping trip.

Why isn’t Regene in Veda with Tieria? His consciousness should still be around. Look how lonely Tieria is.

With the remaining CBs in a long trip to Jupiter, Setsuna X Feldt may be possible? Or Setsuna just want to keep Marina waiting, waiting and waiting…?

Cool, no more Tomino-type ending finally. Here’s the Vashti family that is still intact.

    Is that Healing Care?

Is the upcoming movie about CB’s trip to Jupiter? Hope there will be some back stories.

  8. You know, I was thinking in my own words just now and found something interesting…

What if Mankind already made contact with another will, what if Aolia’s plan was just an excuse and the starting point of human evolution, Innovation. Damn it, I hate you SUNRISE, let me rest a little, wouldn0t you? This stuff will keep bugging me until next year.

  9. The final is okay. Hopefully director will make that maybe Gundam 00 movie good…….

Yeah the show still feels incomplete…… The story was good. Only just some characters lacked character development….. Will leave that to the director I reckon ^^……

  10. Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Vs. Giant God lol~ for the movie (If you read Yuichi Hasegawa’s spin-off Manga Mobile Suit Gundam Vs. Giant God. You’ll know what is on the Jupiter)
ps. It’s a Joke Dont Belive me. lol~

    wahahaha
  11. Is there something going on in the anime industry that I don’t know about? Why are so many series are coming out half-baked? If the series added another 25 episodes as Season 3 there might have been enough room to create a masterpiece but that never happened. Same with Code Geass…

    What’s going on?

    Teo
  12. I liked:
    Kati and Patrick
    Andrei
    Marie

    The fight wasn’t interesting.

I see, Movie is going to explain how was created Cb and GN drives and what part in this all played Jupiter.

  13. “Speaking of which, I laughed at the shot of Jupiter in the commercial for the 2010 Gundam 00 movie. Obviously this means a Gundam 00/Geass crossover!”

Lol, the copy things for sure 😀 I admit I didn’t watch the series (nor will as Gundam isn’t my taste). However I followed it here, and the end of Graham felt open to me as well. But with the movie they’ll probably give him:
    – epic death or
    – happy ending or
    – open ending or
    – WTF GEASS ending

Hm, did I forgot one? 😀

  14. Why Ribbon So Stupid Moron at last episode!! He just took a GN Drive as a Chicken Egg holding stupidly laughing here and there?! I dunno why he didnt attach original GN Drive to Own Reborn Gundam…>_0< Setsuna how he get back the Exia Back so fast?,(Henshin!! ULTRAMAN Gundam?) And Where Masurao? (Sleeping floating in space)?!Or he crying back to earth?
And This story really confusing…Or this ?!?
Previously I`m a big 00 Fans last moment ,after watch final episode, now feel like downgrade my taste now…=_+

  15. And it seems Omni failed to see the fact that almost every important Sunrise franchise has something to do with Jupiter.

as well as how the quote, movie release date and that planet relate to certain scifi writer.

  16. A conversation between Klaus and Shirin… I’m not sure if I understood it right so I’m not even sure if it’s really a spoiler or not so…

For a second I thought what Klaus meant was that Shirin was pregnant but I’m guessing he’s just talking about future generations.

  17. I’m still wondering who or what CB is going to fight against in the movie.

Who’s left? Are the meister’s all going to go down in flames as they think they diserve at the end of the movie or what?

Well, good night. Been fun(?) staying up late to watch the series.

    Teo
  18. I’m unsure one thing from Ribbons, does this “Guntank-like” MS only just turn its back into Reborn Gundam?

I thought is Setsuna pilots O Gundam and Ribbons pilots Reborn Gundam with Original GN-Drive.

    ravencty
  19. I noticed the appearance of Innovators in the epilogue as well and I’m wondering what is their purpose for appearing.

Are they placed there by Veda/Tieria to monitor things on Earth?

Also towards the end Tieria does say something bout taking his rest, does this mean he will continue to sleep in Veda’s conscioueness?

Or is the whole innovators appearance part of Ribbon’s plan and he never really died? Recall that he did say his conscioueness is linked to Veda’s and his body is only a shell.

    jlcp83
  20. lol honest to god, we got 2 TWIN-GN drives and they BOTH revert to single past generation gundams for a fight, surely it was for the LOLs….Gundam Exia V O Gundam…least none of the meisters died ad patrick got a happy ending =D

    Halbie
  21. Jupiter appeared in Season 1 and what happened there was never fully explained.
    Maybe in the movie!!
And who is the guy commiting sepuku? Graham?!
GO, EXIA!!! I always liked it a lot more than the 00, don’t really know why.

@unknownvoice: yeah, Arthur C. Clark references are there. Not sure what the 2 you picked up are but from only the pics at this site (haven’t watched the episode yet) i see 3:
    1 – Jupiter is the most obvious, appearing in both “2001” and “2010”;
    2 – The movie comes out in… “2010”
3 – “Haro” is pretty much the same as “HAL”, phoneticaly speaking.(don’t know if this one will stick :P)

  22. Patrick has more survivability than any other Gundam character in franchise history. At least he finally got his girl.

I have a feeling the movie is finally going to introduce aliens to the Gundam universe.

    finalnight
  23. I’m not impressed.
    Why did everyone survive?

That’s why I don’t like the new Gundam series.
They care far too much about their fanbase throwing a tantrum, they don’t dare to kill off major characters because they fear people will stop watching it when their favourite character died.

    I want my Tomino back.

    Dix
  24. WOW, what an epic ending for a serie. At first i was doubting how the serie will end, but this episode really blew my mind away. Exia vs. 0 Gundam, nice, I didn’t see that coming, but it was very nice.

    Redfox
  25. It makes sense that Ribbons switched back to 0 Gundam, his own unit was severely damaged and probably running low on GN particles to boot. Also, it’s pretty clear he’s sentimentally attached to 0 Gundam.

    Blue
  26. Awesome ending, and like others I noticed the Innovades hanging around in the various crowds around the world during the ending. I honestly think its not a recycling of character models. They were meant to promote the appearance of Innovators and they probably are by simply being there.

Or as biological terminals for Veda, allow Veda a hands on approach to monitoring humanity.

Be that as it may, I anticipate seeing the 00 movie before the Seed movie for an important reason.

00 made Bandai more cash than Seed/Destiny. So what do you think they would work their butts off on to get into theaters faster?

Heck, this is the only Gundam series where I have sought and purchased all the lead Gundam suit HCM pro figures. Just waiting for 00 to arrive in the mail and that will be that.

Heck, Ribbon’s and Graham’s mobile suits might be purchased by me as well. Really loved this show and the ending was epic.

Also waiting for Exia with GN Sword 3 recolor to be issued as well lol!

    Bluevirage
  27. kaioshin, why so logical?

either way there’s more innovators. ribbons probably didn’t die and created more. or tieria created them for the sole purpose of monitoring human activities. who knows? only 2010 knows.

    Frito
  28. by the way.. the commercial scene on Jupiter with 4 dot green lights, kinda looks like “Operation Meteor”(Gundam Wing). Except for the fact that its on Jupiter, the lights aren’t falling on it, and only 4(not 5) lights..

    early219@yahoo.com
  29. innovades are coming and they are the invaders. linebarrel bullshit with there time-space warp.

oh more 00 please. that gundam was built up so high that it got trashed so fast.

neil vs lyle? who do you guys like now. the awesome long range combatant or the dual wielding cowboy?

    Frito
  30. Heck I see most people like the ended I also enjoyed the series. I still see andrei still in army I hope he would have visited his father grave since he did kill his father or tribute to him or something. I hope they never bring seed movie out. Every time they make a gundam always a movie or oav. I hope the alien race they meet are the furlings>>>

@everyone how come saji did not innoavte he was there during first testing and was there during all setsuna floating around nude. He was the in raisor for setsuna. Maybe saji was the sidekick so he gets no power he was robin to setsuna(batman). saji special powers would be over reaction saji

good series not great (some of the things writers did at times) going to now take a gundam break. This was my first series I left replays it was fun

  31. I guess Kati found Patrick through the widespread dispersal of GN particals from 00 Raiser Trans-am Burst from last episode, listening on his inner monolog of he wishes to spend his life with his Taisa.

Patrick, YOU ARE MORE IMMORTAL THAN KIRA COULD EVER HOPE FOR!!! ^_^
I bet Kati would keep Partick ass in line with a title higher than Taisa, his wife.

    Akumaten
  32. another thing.. some people doesn’t seem to know what celestial being’s connection with Jupiter is, let me answer that.. A component in the original GN-Drives called TD-blanket can only be produced on or in the atmosphere of Jupiter. it is also the component that makes the GN particles green instead of red.. its probably a filter that makes the particles not harmful to humans..

    early219@yahoo.com
  33. It started off noticeably below average but BEGAN to redeem itself toward the end (ep 25!) i can only hope the movie is as good! Libbons MECH WAS THE BEST in the entire series!!!!!!!!!!! i cant beleive he lost!!! but it was nice to see the 0 gundam and the double handed beam saber wield by amuro again (lets loose all pretense since that who he is in our heads!!!) poor amuro helluva pilot but crummy as a leader that always been his problem 😛

    WingZerozxt
  34. The series was awesome overall but the ending was not amusing as to compete against Code Geass. I guess it is really hard to give an awesome ending after spilling all the good beans for the regular episodes.

  35. Jesus! Sunrise u r so cruel, 2010? You’re joking right? I can’t wait for so long! @ Omni I would like to see you posting ur final thoughts and comment on the whole series XD plz?

    Gundamaniac
  36. Yea the Exia vs O Gundam battle was really cool, although I was kinda disappointed that Graham didn’t appear and participate in the final battle. By the way does that mean Allelujah and Marie have left Celestial Being for good?

And they didn’t explain the Jupiter exploration and the connection it has with the development of the solar furnace!

  37. Just because you saw characters in the ending with similar hair as the Innovades doesn’t mean it’s them.

So nobody pointed out the red haired Innovades in the background then? haha.

Maybe some of those clones survived and started their own lives?

    SW
  38. I am thinking it will not be aliens. It may instead be 2 possibilities

    i) Jupiter has a colony hidden (linkseason 1 where the purple haro was found), bringing back the familiar earth, colony conflicts

ii) Robotic lifeforms, aka Veda/Human genesis

The fight with the first one ending in a draw and Setsuna winning the second was not bad. Unexpected comedy from Hiling and Revive, Hiling being torn apart by a “c level” super soldier (as Marie was called during Anew’s hostage scene if i recall correctly) and Revive losing at close range to a shooting type mobile suit that has most of its parts blown up. As an asidem this entire series must be watched in HD or a lot of stuff gets missed and the action does not look as good.

Over the entire series, season 1 started off ok, dragged then only started kicking in high gear on episode 18, the episode with Louise’s hand. Season 2 also started to drag but managed to kick start itself much earlier. Overall its not bad. Not great but a above average anime and definitely deeper than children’s cartoons even though it features giant robots.

The ending where Kathy referred to “no disarmament, no amnesty” isn’t a bad way to wrap up as Allelujah also admitted that CB must be held responsible for a lot of deaths. I find this part important as it separates it from many anime with the “everything becomes peachy and all is forgiven”. With its look at politics, racial divides, propanganda and simply perspectives of different factions, an all peachy ending would only make the entire 1st season laughably contridictory

    Zaku Fan
  39. Hallelujah going against Hilling was a beautiful thing. He just obliterated her and laughed the whole time :). While it only lasted a minute it was really enjoyable to watch. The greatest crime of this series is not having more Hallelujah time.

    FlareKnight
  40. Rather pretentious of CB to stick around after the whole series was to make their existence a non-requirement for peace rofl.

Conclusion: Hallelujah is the only character worth watching.

    Ragna
  41. Seems like all the innovators are still around. Bring is in the crowd when Marina is giving the speech. Anew is at the Earth Federation speech. And Ribbons in the last shot where CB is flying to Jupiter. This was so done on purpose especially when the shots center on all these characters.

    spikey
  42. hallelujah is too good of a pilot. by far the best in all of gundam considering he appears for 5 seconds and sink 5 battleship.

wonder who’ll win when he faces char? hallelujah vs char.

  43. @ Blue Virage
i know how you feel man this is the only series since wing where I have bought mobile suit figs again cant wait for my 2 pack of seraphim and seravee to come in!

  44. @Kabayongtao:
There aren’t irreplaceable people, there are only not replaced people.

Yes, Sumeragi can be replaced by Sergei, Kati, Commander Kim, Innovator, Innovado, VEDA, Klaus and so on.

  45. I knew it all along, ever since that second opening. It turned into a silly show…what a shame. The ending was lame. I guess we all know sunrise has a potential to make us stick to our seats, but at then end it can’t deliver. It was a good gundam, much much better than
Seed and Destiny. But overall the grade I give is a C-.
    Plot: C-
    Design:A
    Cast:A+
    Battles:A
But the plot is what counts more, what should be an A. But they ruined it with tired anime/manga cliches. I’m real happy, though, to see the last episode.

    ZetaGundam
  46. Don’t know if anyone mentioned this yet, but in the epilogue, all the Innovators (or innovades) are in the background, or atleast people looking like them. I could see people that stand out because of their hair looking like Ribbons, Bring/Divine and Anew.

    Geekodot
  47. Good episode, but after watching it I feel similarly to how I did after Macross Frontier, since the story isn’t truly finished, its hard to make a final judgment on the series.

Hopefully we get some alien contact in the movie or something (either that or they run into CC as was joked about on Random Curiousity, lol). I think so far, this series is better than Wing, hopefully the movie is at least as good as or better than Endless Waltz.

Hopefully Marina has more a of role in the movie like Relena did in Endless Waltz.

But overall I was a bitter sweet ending on my opinion. I had a feeling it could have been a lot more better. But then Gundam 00 is no Code Geass. But it would be funny if the movie was a Gundam 00/Code Geass Crossover

    Unknown-Man
  49. @Unknown Man
Wow, keen eyes Sir. Didn’t even notice these oddly familiar person :o. Well, I guess we will have to wait till 2010 to see what happen, and also, whatever the four lights at Jupiter might be.

  50. Five Reasons to Watch the Movie:

1)like ALL THE FLIPPIN OTHER SUNRISE ANIMES, THIS ONE WILL PROBABLY NEED IT TO MAKE THE ENDING GOOD
    2) It’ll make you like gundam again, cause, you’ll be 68, before it omes out, look at the Gundam Seed movie…
    3)It’ll fix the plot….
4)It is probably gonna insert some MarinaxSetsuna, which is canon
    5) We’ll see C.C. revive Lelouch with dark magic….stuff… and accidentally revive Daniel-Lockon…

    chad001
  51. yes some Fans were able to catch this. TD Blanket is developed on the atmosphere on Jupiter. It might be a foreshadow to the movie explaining how GN Drives are made or that the four lights are MS with new GN Drives.

Meh, I found it interesting enough, they spent on the idea on a 1984 like setting (Not exactly the same, but the manupulating of media and using a front like A-Laws and the Federation is someting like the 1984 theme of big brother for season 2). Well.. atleast the explain a damn bit about Season 1. It was a plot that could have been more expanded, but you guys think its just average? Perhaps a +C to a -B just for not working on it more, but still wrapped it up quite nicely. The fact that they keyed in on that random purple hair girl probably means she significant… even if it is for the movie.

Marie and Allelujah just hiking on the mountains gave me… ah? so you’re coming back or not?

I thought the Gundam O could do so much more with the GN Drive. Guess not. Thank God Tieria not coming back (unless he’s back for the movie or the so called Dialouges come), out of all the pilots who improved, he improved the least >.> guess its a heavy unit, but STILL DO SOMETHING BETTER LIKE DAMAGE THEM A BIT IN THE VERY LEAST. Maybe, someone should insert more mobile suit training combat for him in Veda X_x.

What seems to be left out for me is, the fact that they didn’t expand to the rest of the world in the end, so everyone can understand. Even it its designated once a year, it would have really emphasized the point that understanding brings peace.

Oh well, the movie could be the explanation or expanding on making more GN Drives for the future (I’m pretty sure that O Gundams GN Drive is destroyed or atleast partly damage from where the sword thrusted, so no more OO for not).

I salute you Gundam 00, Thanks for making my sundays enjoyable and intense with fights “usually”. I say usually cause it didn’t always >.>. Please make the movie excellent to watch Sunrise… Perhaps, hire better writers and do it earlier for the next TV Series, cause God you had so much Potential and just didn’t use it. As I sniffle and wave see you until i wanna watch u again Gundam 00(harddrive XP), its time to move on to…. FULL METAL ALCHEMIST!

    Sora No Kaze
  53. I call massive fail on almost no deaths. They basically said fuck it last week and made everything go right with the trans am burst. meh. The exia/0 fight was awesome. Hopefully the movie will live up to expectations.Too bad theres only 2 meisters up for action atm, unless allelujah/marie come back to fight.

    Lump
  54. I’m getting signs that Marina/Setsuna was just as gone like Cagalli/Athrun in GSD, since both their relationships ended due to the “princess” rebuilding the country and all that.

Here’s to hoping that Son of Bear grows to a man like the original Wild Bear of Russia. 🙂
So of Tieria and Alle are gone, I’m voting for the 2 new Gundam Meisters be Feldt (I mean, she’s a daughter of Meisters) and Lasse, he’s like a badass who’s yet to shine.

As for the ESF leader, it’s now Hillary Clinton instead of Barrack Obama? 😀 Can’t wait for ’10! Wonder if they’re getting a different MS designer, like Katoki customs with Endless Waltz.

    leoh
  55. hehe rodham clinton. yeah feldt and lasse can’t be meisters they are role players. one navigates, one does the computer work.

either way my prediction for the next gundam line-up will be:

lyle, setsuna, alle, marie and…….wait for it…………wait for it……. this is gonna be legen……….wait for it………wait for it…….dary!

graham. yes i said it graham will become a meister. i mean they butchered his character in the series might as well make up for it by making him a protagonist. that or saji will be back; but who knows? only 2010 knows.

    Frito
  56. @ Zanzina

“and i still do not understand why, all through the season, you under-estimated tieria and also again, on this finale, you kept him out of your comments.”

    Reasons why Tieria wasn’t popular.
    1. He’s gay.
    2. He drives a FAT gundam, which then strips into a totally naked long haired gundam.
    3. He uses his naked body to disturb people in battles.
    4. No one actually has an emotional interest in him.
    5. He doesn’t own hard enough.

Thank you for shooting him in the face.

    ssbattousai
  57. great series . now got to wait till 2010 for the movie. I like patrick I agree with @haggis he is lucky now. Marina and graham were wasted at the end. Marina was no peacecraft or Miss lacus clyne gsd. The later two got more into the war and was upfront. Marina just watch kids and made a song and was in the background. Graham fighting ribbons would have given him a warriors death. hallelujah is great when he is serious he can put up a body count. I am glad he had that innovator scared. Now I hope macross frontier and gundam 00 movies will be good.

    animejohndoe
  58. The whole Jupiter aspect at the end seems like another homage to the Universal Century, similar to the basic 0 Gundam design and whatnot.

Mostly because Jupiter was ALWAYS a huge player in the Universal Century era in some way; it was Jupiter’s fleet that supplied the helium-3 necessary to work the Minovsky Fusion Reactors, they had “agents” like Paptimus Scirocco, there was the Jupiter Empire in Crossbone Gundam and their own leaders like Crux Dogatie and Fonse Katagie, etc.

Also, Ribbon’s Gundam seems more like something akin to the Aegis from SEED or the Savior from SEED Destiny really. I don’t really see anything of the Hi-Nu Gundam on it. x_x

    HalfDemonInuyasha
  59. YEAH 2010 cannot wait!

lol RIBBONS IS ALIVE AHH hahahah that was so good…is there any other animes like code geass and 00 with good drawings that people can recommend me? now that 00 is done

    Arsenal6
  60. well not a nice way to end it but could work….

still I like Marina’s outfit at the end sexy as hell…. reminds me of the innovator outfit looks similar enough

about the movie IDK will the SEED movie come out be4 this one or what. The SEED movie has been in the making for over 3 years now wth

    Lobotomy
  61. Given that Marina’s song did not really play a role in the series, i can guess what her actual role is. Her song is the reflection and encouragement of the war weary public to stop the senseless war between anti govt (katharon) and govt forces. Her role is to await the end of war, to administer to her country as a leader of peace and to show that fighting to end war does not just mean you have to pick up a gun as Shirin’s scene with Marina + Klaus’s scene with Shirin showing that Marina’s song was being broadcasted showed.

Perhaps too subtle but for me that a good point about this series. Sumeragi moving between Billy and Lasse this episode, Marie looking at Alleugh when he says he wants to prevent more people like him and Soma Pieres from appearing in the world in episode 22, lots of small actions that says a lot of what is going on.

Still too bad they did not use the Marina Ismail’s “Tomorrow” and instead used the children’s one.

    Zaku Fan
  62. @hethler: if u didnt get the gundam 00 – code geass joke … pls watch code geass r2 again … and u will get it …

lelouch vs setsuna maybe ?? i dont think so … (but it would be cool .. uu know ??)
    ______________

well… if u didnt notice yet .. there are 5 lights over the jupiter atmosphere … yes, 5 !!!!
4 arround it .. and 1 almost on the center of the planet !! (i think its like the others, arroud but bc the angle we cant see that clear enough…)

well, someone mentionend here, i think … about the gundam wing’s “meteor operation..” well … yeah ! i think about that as well !!

    and … sadly exia and 0 gundam (aka rx-78 2 !! ) face off endend in a draw .. why ?? both of them get destroyed/pierced ….

and again, theres actually 3 innovators alike on the end … the red hair one (divine), the purple hair one (anew, bc looks more like a woman) and the green hair one (ribbons ??, he looks more… manly ?? O_o?! ) … and just like someone said before about all of this …
    “only 2010 knows …”
    (damn !! i cant wait!! )

    kaito
  63. I liked buuut i tought they would clear / deep the relationship between marina and setsuna ’cause i feel they will put push feldt to setsuna =/
    kinda of unfair …
hope the movie will clear as marina and setsuna S2

    kamishiro
  64. Awesome end to an awesome show! Looks like 2010 will be a good year for gundam as well

And it looks like Tieria is actually watching over the world as Veda, that could be the reason why there are a lot of Innovator/Innovade look-alikes around the globe.

    Creid
  65. You missed another Arthur C. Clarke reference. In two of his books, “3001: The Final Odyssey” and “The Fountains of Paradise,” there were space elevators. Arthur C. Clarke is credited with bringing the idea of one into the broader public consciousness.

As for possible crossovers, you guys are just blinded by Code Geass. There is another Sunrise production that would fit for a crossover much better. It too involves bright green power sources for its mechs, a hero who change as a result of contact with said power sources, and has Jupiter as the climax of the series. You all know, or should know, what I’m talking about.

    Arael
  66. Dude this is great. I thought they would screw up in the end with the setsuna haxxors but setsuna didnt even get to use them. I’m so glad the Exia came back it’s still my favorite gundam in the A.D. series.

    Marth186
  67. I think out of all the Gundam series I had watched from 0079, 0080, 0083, Z, ZZ, Char’s Counter Attack, F91, V, G, X, W, Seed, Seed Destiny, and now 00. This has to be one of the worst in par with V, the characters are just not strong enough, I don’t mean piloting skills is more of how the character in the anime can make the audiences have a feel for them, clearly I don’t feel that way for anyone in this Gundam series. The males in this anime can’t compare to character like Judo, Amuro, Chars, Hiro, or Kira, don’t even mention the female leads, Marina is absolutely nothing compare to the female leads of W, Seed, or even X and G.
Then we had the story about fighting a war to stop all war, BullShit. if you want to stop all war just go around and wipe out any country that stand in your way, when you on top of the world and rule with an iron fist then you can talk about peace afterward.
This series maybe a good watch if you are someone new to the Gundam franchise but for old Gundam fans like myself who had watched almost 90% of all gundam series up to date, this is nothing but garbage to me.

    mike
  68. Mike, I’ve seen all those Gundam series to, and they all suck compared to Gundam 00.
Gundam 00 is the best hands down. People just like to down Gundam 00 because Seed and the rest of those other Gundam Shows suck, and very few people agree with them.

I personally going to get every episode on Blu-Ray DVD. I wouldn’t spend a dime on any of those other crappy Gundam Shows.

    Nakobass
  69. @mike:

There is no such thing as “rule with an iron fist then you can talk about peace afterward” because that’s called dictatorship, i.e A-LAWS; and when that happens there will always be a group of people who will want to stand against that because they do not agree with such tactics, i.e Kataron/Celestial Being. (Kinda like how Hitler wanted to conquer/wipe out any other country which stood in his way in WWII, but the Allies would not stand for it). When one rules all there cannot be a mutual peace amongst each other.

It IS cliche with the whole idea of stirring up a war just to end all other wars, but keep in mind when Gundam 00 began there were also three main powers and those being that of Union, HRL, and AEU. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought Celestial Being was created because the three powers were trying to “out-do” each other with the whole orbital elevators thing and so Celestial Being was there for the purpose of unifying all three factions as a whole and making sure that humanity doesn’t kill each other because one faction is trying to take over the other. (Sorry, huge run-on sentence)

The whole idea of peace in Gundam 00 was mentioned a lot throughout the second season, mainly that of understanding each other. It does somewhat have a Code Geass ending with the whole thing of making everyone unified by projecting their hate through that one certain thing, i.e The three united factions (now the Earth Sphere Federation) vs. Celestial Being (the supposedly “evil” terrorist organization), and Britannia/Japan/rest of the world vs. Lelouch.

I do have to agree though, even though I’ve only watched about 50-60% of the whole Gundam franchise, the characters in Gundam 00 somewhat lacked development as compared to the other series of characters that I’ve watched. I really wish they would have elaborated more on the revival of Hallelujah, and Lockon (Lyle) still seemed somewhat hollow to me even after the season’s end. The only character I thought had a bit of development for this season was Tieria (mainly because he went from total asshat in season one to a cool and suave guy in season two, but even then that’s sorta pushing it). Obviously Setsuna would have character development since it shows his evolution into an innovator.

    Alt+F4
  70. @everyone, just shut the FUCK UP and stop comparing things. fucking kids….. just enjoy and not whine. go kill yourselves instead of wasting my time(i happen to have read your posts.)

    moving on…..

    Frito
  71. People saying that Tieria didn’t improve much as a pilot should be happy he didn’t. Can you imagine if he actually became a really good one? He’d be the meister who rebuilt CB, Sumeragi consults him the most, he’s the kindest and most emphatic to his teammates, he’s resilient to the beckon of the enemy, he’s also the one with the key to accessing Veda which their enemies rely on so much and whose data CB also wants to have, (not to mention he’s good-looking from a certain standpoint) and on top of that… what would happen if he’s also a good pilot?! He’s not the lead character, he had to have a flaw, a major one in a story about fighting, to keep the audience’s view of him as just a supporting character to Setsuna. I am only left with the impression that he is a well-written character.

Now Lyle, goodness sakes, this one I have to admit is a good character, albeit badly written and handled within the animation. It’s been “the novel says that Lyle… this and that magazine says that Lyle…” when they could have traded off some minutes from Marina’s screentime to expound on him.

Anyway, rants, raves, still, eagerly waiting for the movie next year!!!

    @ttacker
  72. I think that the ending was wierd….well because:
    1. Reborn Gundam looks like the died-in-the-middle-of-the-season-type or role playing gundam-type like the akatsuki gundam in seed destiny. (they couldve made an angel like gundam to bring more godly looks to ribbons)
    2. i thought trans-am-burst would be used.
    3. tieria didn’t even lasted for 3 mins in the ending
    4. i thought hallelujah was gone?
    5. the 0xExia fight was kinda rushed
    6. what ever happened to graham?
    7. where’s regene?
    8. tieria’s naked….gay…epic fail
    9. Seraphim and Nadleeh deserves some justice…

Also..i kinda wish that the 5 dots around jupiter represents the 5 new gundams in the construction stage…the 4 with the twin drive system while one with 3…then the later gets stolen Ribbons(he’s still alive because he wasn’t given the final moments like all the major chars when they die)
Then the 4 gets piloted by the the original pilots (tieria can make another vessel for him like ribbons)
then the movie starts with Marina’s country getting destroyed by almark :D:D:D:D
00-reborn gundam!!! or Oblivion gundam or Redemption gundam!!!!

    killerinstict
  73. The episode was epic. Stop considering it as a ending, the second season only dealt with the “Unification of the human race” part of the Aeolia plan, the serie will be brought to a true closure in the movie… True that the 0 vs Exia felt rushed but remember that their is a time constraint for the episodes. Maybe we’ll get a extended version of the final on the DVD/Blu-Ray.
Hallelujah came back because of the Tran-Am burst, remember how previously he could only appear while The 00 was in Trans-AM mode? I guess the Burst healed whatever brain damage allelujah had received and that prevented hallelujah from appearing. I think that that is what also fully healed Lasse as Saji said that Luoise was cured because of it.
The A-Laws commander committed seppukku? Damn that guy was hardcore until the end.
About the Innovator cameos in the ending, remember that they were supposed to help humans in the beginning by being their link to Veda? Well I guess with Tieria taking over Veda, I suppose that their original purpose was restored too.
Are Allelujah and Marie/Soma out of CB? Or are they just taking some sort of lovers vacation?

    Ayle
  74. Remeber alioa plan isnt over, if there were no enemy like ribon we would see much more changing of earth and how the world would have no war….. that why they making a movie and for completing the story cause the plan is still incomplete… now that ribbons iis gone the plan must continue…humans must evolve…that why the its called childhood of humankind
Now that tierra and allahluya are gone from celestial being setstuna and lockon are only left….at the ending you can see billy working on a a suit…is that the new 00gundam?

    Freedommaster
  75. Man i havnt posted in here in a LONG while. I guess since this is the end i have to show my face.I dont know about the rest of you but i love the show parts of it were disappointing… few grahm, allahluya moment it was all in all very good. As for the finale ep it was great the first part it got kinda cliche with saji saying CB will be there. Im glad they ended with daybreaks bell again. As for it not being over as said aoelia plan isnt finshed keep in mind ribbons mentions the giant space ship as a ark and of arriving aliens. Basically the ending for the show was understanding one another something they’ll have to do with these arriving aliens.

The movie HAS to be a continuation of the show as the plan moves into the next phase and CB and the new UNITED world deals with these aliens. If you notice in the movie teaser THERE ARE FIVE LIGHTS. one on the surface of jupitar and 4 surrounding the planet I assume these are Gundams… As to who they are who knows… innovado, innovators or something else… odds are they are some form of human (as there has yet to be a gundam with actual aliens in it… correct me if im wrong) I just want to know how much of a part grahm and billy will play.

to some of the post in here.
Tiera can be revived in a invado bodo no doubt, aluyha and soma are probably just on break they’ll be back. O gundam and exia was a bit rushed, regene is proabably with tiera but it looks like he’s dead. I have to agree best gundam i have seen so far…
sucks that they give halli/alluya 3 min of awesomeness AT THE END OF THE SHOW sad

    P0
  76. i really liked the ending, there is finally some order in the world, but as long as there are humans, there will always be humans who want to dominate others. in fact, the only real way to eradicate war between humans is a united human front in a war with someone else. well, i guess you could technically eradicate ‘war’ in the sense of country versus country, but unless everyone gets connected to each other a la GN particles, you will never stop people from fighting with one another. people will always have differences and some people will always feel they need to do whatever it takes to make people see that they are right. anyway, i really liked this series as a whole, sure some characters never got fleshed out as much as we would have liked, but that isnt exactly necessary. i mean really, who cares about Graham, what could they have done with his character anyway, he was always just either in the way of the other people or was in the background. i dont want to say he was just there to further the story, (ie, always testing out Billy’s new mechs, in other words, he was always a preview of what the A-laws or military in general would end up using 1-2 episodes later) because you could tell he had a deeper character, but as it pertains to the themes of the story and the outcome of the plot, he wasnt really necessary so unless you cared about him as a character, it shouldnt matter if they ever went in depth with him. Marina on the other hand always seemed to be like the representation of the common people. who wanted peace, who doesnt, but she doesnt want to fight for it (in the literal sense) and i liked her little monologue at the end, about how in simple terms she and Setsuna want the same things, but since they go about that in completely different ways, their paths never really cross. cant wait for the movie, lets see what is on Jupiter shall we, and as for the spots, i would more likely guess the four around the planet to be the four main moons, one of which scientists believe could possibly harbors very simple lifeforms. the on in the center, well, we’ll just have to wait now wont we.

    GGear0323
  77. Yeah, I see where Mike is coming from. However, they did show subtile development inbetween and minor. If anything, the transition from first to second season showed me a good amount of change over the 5 years. Nice call with the three step plans, but I so think its out of context to see Aliens vs. Gundam. I mean, damn leave that to Macross, not Gundam.

Btw, yeah I don’t see the Code Geass joke. No I odn’t recall what show it could be unless is Teppenn Guran wtv that full name is and I highly doubt that was the right guess even. And heck no, I’m not going to watch R2 again for a long while. Not until I have time to actually rehash the entire plan into someting that possibly make sense of the entire Code Geass series.

    Sora No Kaze
  78. wat

    Graham?
    PATRICKOMGWTF!!!

Pretty satisfying, but was Graham of any use in 00 S2 at all? I mean, seriously.
The part that gets me most pissed is that they used Setsuna’s magical healing light in ep 24 to cure everything.

    dszx
  79. In the field of flowers, did you notice that those are the same flower that Feldt gave Setsuna?? And you can clearly see the container on which it was on, that container sure is heavy duty, having survived atmospheric re-entry… hahaha

    gboynextdoor
  80. now sure it if this was posted or not but i just realize that sunrise just made the final gundam fight look like a match between the first gundam (Exia in first season) of the new series vs the first gundam (O gundam which looks like RX – 78) of the old series

    Rayzorexe
  81. Required Speculation on the Movie:

    Plot:
CB ends up having to go to Jupiter somehow, and wind up traveling to round up some more Meisters (My money’s on the three survivors + Marie and Graham/Bushido to use all of the GN drives; Tieria is gone and should stay that way, at least in the physical sense). They discover more backstory to the Innovades, as well as the Tau Drives, Thrones, and Trinities as imitators/replacements for CB in Alejandro Corner’s failed plans. More backstory on the Trinities, Purple Haro, and possibly even Ali (He got zero character development- that was a complete cop-out). Hopefully more Marina focus, and some kind of fulfillment of Setsuna’s Innovator role.

    5 lights around Jupiter?
5 advanced Gundam Thrones, piloted by more Trinities, or possibly more/same Innovades.

    Gundams?
I’d like to see a return to the original designs from S1, especially Exia and Nadleeh. I’m really hoping for Marie and Bushido to get some actual Gundams, not just the Archer and Flag/Sunalu/Masurao. What will probably happen is something akin to Endless Waltz’s redesigns, with the first set of Gundams being redrawn for the movie. Also, what ever happened to the 00 Raiser and 00? It would make sense for Setsuna to keep using his Buddha-Gundam to change the world.

Also, the title seems to be a Arthur C Clarke reference. The book itself is about humanity evolving into a galactic consiousness, but losing its innocence/freedom in the process, which sounds more like NGE than Gundam.

    fluffy_warthog
  82. I love how there are people who look like innovators in many of the ending shots. Is this Tieria’s promise to “watch over humanity” until the “coming dialogues”?

    Sentinel
  83. Hmmm… about the trinities thing…. Are there still some traitors in CB?
And the thrones might be a good bet for the dots….ut I think it would be the upgrade of the gundams like…..sadaludsud?-kyrios-arios and plutone-virtue/nadleeh-seravee/seraphim…. But I’m still thinking that if there were 5 dots, that means there should be 5 CB pilots not 4… or might be ptolemy 3…but o well….

I think in the movie- Ribbons will appear but only as a used up villain and somebody else would takeover..like the people Alejandro Corner was talking to during S1…theobservers i think because they know a lot about CB…

    killerinstict
  84. finally watched the episode>.<..hmm..is it just me or are there many innovator look-a-likes lurkign in teh background( first at marina’s speech, that red-haired innovator, then during the inauguration of teh new president, there was an anew look-a-like…then there was a ribbons look-a-alike)…O_o…anywayz…i really enjoyed this series..ahahahahxp

    yUkishin
  85. “Gundam SEED Destiny” really sucked, because it basically undermined “Gundam SEED” (season 1 and 2). Knowing that, think these guys will make the same mistake of “not knowing when to stop.” Not really expecting the movie to clear up all the loose ends, at any rate anime movies always leave me with a feeling of disatisfaction, so im not expecting much.
