「八千代と杏子と佐藤…と、帰ってきた音尾さん」 (Yachiyo to Kyouko to Satou… to, Kaetekita Otoo-san)
“Yachiyo, Kyouko, Satou… and Otoo-san Who’s Back”

So it turns out Yachiyo has been carrying her katana around since she was a kid to help ward off bullies, but when even that wasn’t enough, just leave it up to Kyouko to bring in the nail-bat to show those elementary school boys their place! I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that Kyouko is a gang “Aneki” given how she has some “useful juniors” at her beck and call, but damn, taking Yachiyo’s lunch as payment for being her bodyguard before is still hilariously low even for her. I guess if Yachiyo didn’t mind though then who am I to judge. Incidentally, her run-in with Kyouko just so happens to be the sole reason why she’s willing to wait on hand and foot at every parfait request too. It’s cute in a way, just as much as it is unsettling I guess. In any case, with the mystery behind Yachiyo’s katana unraveled, it looks like Jun’s letting us in on the secret to being taller — it’s all in the hair and not getting upset when you get teased so your cells don’t get into a knot. I never would’ve taken Jun for a comedian, but if Popura bought it, then he’s good enough in my books.

As hinted by the preview last time, we actually have a new character introduced this time around named Otoo Hyougo (Nakata Jouji). He just so happens to be the actual manager of Wagnaria, except he’s never around because he’s searching all over Japan for his wife, who has a horrible sense of direction and went missing after going out for a shopping errand. If you ask Souta, it’s pretty ridiculous to say the least as calling the police never crossed “Otoo-san’s” mind, but everyone else is just happy he always comes back with a ton of souvenirs for them to dig into. Well, I shouldn’t say everyone, as Yachiyo gets pretty jealous about him taking over her role as Kyouko’s personal snack provider. I just knew that katana would come in handy, freshly sharpened and everything!

All in all, this was another quirky episode that ended with Yachiyo getting sick and Souta getting some ribs broken by Mahiru before it was all said and done. In the former case, the surprisingly thing is that Jun seems to have a soft spot for Yachiyo and ever-so-reluctantly allows her to spoil Kyouko with the restaurant’s food supplies. I can’t help but wonder if that means we’ll get some glimpses in the romance department, no matter how slight they may be. It’ll be fun times either way though, with next episode focusing on Hiroomi and how he’s a really REFRESHING guy. Gee, now where have I heard that one before…?

  1. Otoh-san puns so much with Otou-san (daddy), the way Poplar calls her that just sounds cute in a way, lol. Nakata Joji, like Fukuyama Jun, also excels well in comedic roles (Giroro) alongside his more serious kickass roles (Alucard).

Poor Satou, it must be tough having a crush on a cute lesbo whose eyes are on another girl. And speaking of lesbos, never underestimate the jealous rage of one, as Otoh-san can testify.

Kyoko’s statement about how the role of a manager is to not do any work, but rather let her subordinates do all the work reveals her to be a true manager. XD

Finally next week we’ll see more of Souma, his screentime is criminally low today. It’s always interesting to have a Kamiya character in a show.

  2. OK IT’S OFFICIAL, this series is my favorite for this season (second favorite: Arakawa Under the Bridge) I think Yachiyo and Satou could be so cute together!!! can’t wait to see the next episode! can’t help but feel that Souma has a bit of evilness cause his voice is the same as Durarara’s Izaya ><
yay~ so many good shows this year ^^

  3. Inami is getting better at handling guys I guess, hiding behind Souta at all ^^ Or maybe she tries to think of him as a girl or something 😀 Too bad Souta would never fall for her, since she’s not small enough 🙁
