Covering as many series as I am this season, I’m finding that I barely have time to check out promotional videos on top of that, let alone blog about them. However, there are actually a good handful of them out for various opening/ending themes of anime series this season, so I thought I’d slip in a few here and there over the next week or so. First up is the sphere’s opening theme in Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou, “REALOVE:REALIFE”, simply because this seiyuu group is composed of four of my favorite female ones — Tomatsu Haruka (20), Kotobuki Minako (19), Takagaki Ayahi (24), and Toyosaki Aki (23) (left-to-right in the pic above).

Aside from Ayahi, the rest of them are actually in the series as Teruya Eiko, Arnoul, and Souga Keena respectively, so it’s rather befitting that their new song is featured in the show. K-ON fans will naturally know Aki and Minako as Yui and Mugi, the first of which sings a lot like her Houkago Tea Time counterpart. Minako on the other we never hear a whole lot of, but I actually like her singing voice a lot more, so it’s a shame Mugi doesn’t ever sing outside of her character CDs. Haruka naturally needs no introduction, since she still has her own solo record label on top of the one with sphere, whereas Ayahi has an actual educational background in music. The best part of Ayahi’s singing is that she always does character songs in the corresponding character’s voice, which is something she feels is key. Good examples of that are her Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ and Chrome Shelled Regios songs.

As for the oddly spelled “REALOVE:REALIFE”, it’s definitely grown on me a lot since I first heard it while writing up the Spring 2010 Preview, where I included the short version of this PV. All the girls have pretty powerful vocals and are pretty glammed up in this video as well — most noticeably Aki with that cute pouty face she makes at the 1:22 mark. As always, Haruka has the long legs and isn’t shy about showing them off in that miniskirt she’s wearing. Minako on the other hand gets prettier every time I see her while Ayahi and her always stylish hair and petite 4’11” (~150cm) frame will always be Feldt Grace in my eyes. In any case, I bet you thought this post was going to be about music, but you can clearly see why I prioritized getting this one out first. Enjoy~

  1. I actually like the song. Unlike blakraven66, I didn’t find anyone too squeaky.
I hit play and walked away, and then I came back and was like “What song am I listening too? I like it..”

And lo and behold, it was the flash video and not winamp running.

  2. Hmm… Minachan is actually 18… She’ll be turning 19 in September ^^ Only reason I’m pointing this out is ’cause I’m a huge Minatard =D

By the way, about Minachan singing, do remember that they mentioned in K-ON!! that Mugi might be singing a song herself for once, so yeah, hopefully we will be getting a proper Houkago Tea Time song with Mugi(Mina) as vocals~ =3

  3. I always thought the song was rather good. the Problem i had was that this PV wasn’t really cool. Great voice, great seiyu, but the way the PV was made was kinda not that great.

    1. K the faster Divine gets hammered for being a day or two late, the faster he’s going to burn out. Seriously, just be patient and Divine will be able to stay around without going TOO crazy=).

    2. After posting five different things yesterday, three of which are shows (including the ever-so-popular Angel Beats), I decided to take it easy for the rest of the day. I did end up watch Daimaou episode seven and will get a post out about it today.

You may not have noticed, but I’ve always blogged about Daimaou on Saturdays since I have no other shows on that day (except FMA at 1:00am if you want to count that). The same goes with blogging Durarara on Fridays when it actually airs on Thursdays, since I already have three other shows that day.

Priority is given to Durarara and Angel Beats on Fridays, so Daimaou gets bumped to Saturdays.

  4. The PV itself is boring, the music is not bad, but not something I’d put on my playlist either. At least the girls look pretty 🙂 But I’m probably a bit bitter about this song since I wanted to hear Hikasa Youko singing :o)
