「春 ~Brand new me~」 (Haru ~Brand new me~)
“Spring ~Brand new me~”

Flashfoward to spring now, and the classes have been redistributed. It seems like Takatsuki got through to Chiba, at least partly, as she returned to school. I feel she has opened up a bit — at least to everyone except Sarashima (who is still blissfully ignorant of her hate). Chiba also got Takatsuki to grow out her hair, and I have to agree that it looks better. Sarashima wore a guy’s uniform again, and it looks pretty good as well; perhaps Takatsuki will do it sometime as well. She starts with wearing a tie, but that’s actually pretty normal for school uniforms for either gender. It’s too bad she’s still acting distant from Nitori, because as she has already rejected him there’s really no risk with just being friends.

As for Nitori, he continues to go out with Anna. I really like Nitori’s straightforward, non-hesitant personality; I mean from what I know he has:
– Confessed and asked Takatsuki out
– Confessed love for Anna and asked her out
– Confessed is love of crossdressing to Anna
– Asked if Anna wants to kiss him

I was just thinking that Anna already knows of Nitori’s crossdressing and probably won’t give him too much trouble since that’s how she got interested in him in the first place; Anna confirms exactly that and even lets him dress as a girl in their next date. Unfortunately I also have the suspicion that they are more like “just friends”, as their interactions are mostly quite similar to normal interactions with opposite sex friends. As much as I like Anna’s personality, it’s still probable that Nitori and Takatsuki will get together in the future because they are the main two characters. I like Takatsuki as well of course, and well, I actually find most of the central characters in this series pretty cool.

Takatsuki and Chiba are definitely closer now, maybe in part because Nitori is dating Anna, in sort of breaks their three way tangle. Chiba as anyone can expect, is not fond of Anna at all, even while she admits she’s a “perfect” person. The friction results in an outburst, and Anna finds out about the past relationship between the three. Emotions seriously run deep in this show. It resulted in quite an awkward situation but luckily Nitori manages to defuse the situation , and Anna ends up on good terms with them and even tries to recruit the two for the modeling agency.

Doi is also introduced in this episode as giving trouble for our gender swapped protagonists; but after he sees Nitori with the super hot nee-chan (Yuki-san), he makes up with him. He doesn’t seem that important at this point, but again that’s what I thought of Anna initially.

  1. I liked this episode, wasn’t as harsch as the first few ones 🙂

Btw, Clichè scene on the “I am going out with friends, to find my (ex)lover with someone else, asking us to somewhere with us”

  2. Anna is awesome. Her and Sasa are my favorite characters.

In this episode, Yuki also kind of foreshadows that Nitori and Takatsuki will eventually get together. She says that it’s “too soon”, so maybe as they grow up they will see how much they need each others’ understanding compared to their other friends.

  3. Sarashima is absolutely great.

I love her energetic and positive attitude which severely contrasts the rest of the quiet, almost sombre, cast. Every scene she’s been in has put a smile on my face, Chiba Saeko has done a very good job of voicing her.

Doi has only decided to become friends with Nitori because he thinks he’ll get a shot at Yuki, no? Little does he know that she’s a transsexual and it seems from the preview, Doi is going to see Nitori cross-dressing, possibly falling in love with him in the process.

This will undoubtedly cause some awkward misunderstandings, but it’ll probably be resolved in an episode or two, leaving Doi somewhat mentally scarred perhaps.

  4. Oh Anna… You make me…. Hnnnnggghhh…

But at this point, I’m starting to question Anna and Nitori’s relationship… I really hope it doesn’t end or if it does… I hope she doesn’t get sidelined.

  6. This show needs more love and more screentime for Sasa. 🙂

The karaoke scene was total WTF, I got exactly the same thoughts as Saori when Takatsuki blurted out “Saori likes Nitori”. I guess they’ll be okay for now since Chiba explained “she used to like him”.

    Great episode anyways.

PS: I think you have the wrong cap for this “and Anna ends up on good terms”

  7. I find Nitori a bit of a blob, or blank slate, in some respects.

His raising of the prospect of a kiss with Anna wasn’t based on any desire of his own. He was told that they should kiss. So he approaches is on that basis. And I don’t think he actually loves her.

About the cross-dressing, it was her that dragged it out of him.

He can’t even answer attendance without being mocked (deservedly). And now Doi has told him that they’re friends so they’re friends.

He talks about love but he’s really only passionate about the cross-dressing. He gets less impressive as it goes on.

  8. In my opinion it is clear that there are no love feelings between Anna and Nitori, they are just close friends; and I don’t think that Chiba is okay with him being with Anna.
I love all the characters in this show, but Takatsuki has to be my favourite one.
And I agree that this show needs more love, it is one of the best of the season, and so few people is watching it (or at least commenting it) that it is such a pity.
I really wanna know how this is going to end, or maybe will have a second season =)
