「日常4」 (Nichijou 4)
“My Ordinary Life 4”

The return of the most eccentric student in the whole entre school — Sasahara Kourijou. After the entire goat sequence (and having his pants put on him), I started loving his character just for how weird he is. From his mobile dinner platter and his frilly fluffy fluffy choker-like neck adornment, to his ridiculous laugh, he’s a character you won’t forget about. But the kicker had to be when he couldn’t name the thing on his neck. Coming from a line of farmers, it really makes you question just what kind of financial situation he’s in. Like a certain girl who was captured by a certain fellow, I think I’d die of laughter if Sasahara was just trying to keep up the impression of being a rich kid. I hope we never find out since he’s turning out to be one of the funniest characters in the whole show.

With Hakase and Nano, they just need to keep doing what they’re doing. Their constant battles over the most trivial of things are just so fun to watch. Watching Nano try to be the good role model for Hakase only to have her determination broken by a cute snowman was great. But watching Hakase call her out for it and then winning? It’s sometimes hard to tell which one is the more mature one.

While we’re talking about maturity, Sakamoto-san’s attempts to appear mature were great but it’s a whole ton funnier watching him battle his inner temptations. I’ve never seen a cat go crazy for moving objects but I’d love to own a cat like Sakamoto. Sure listening to him go on and on about certain topics would get annoying after a while, but listening to him try to talk his way out of a bad situation would make up for it. Plus how many cats have fallen for the fake gum trick?

I don’t know about you guys, but I really want more Mio moments in this show. The lack of reason that she provides is exactly why moments like this occur. Seriously though, Yuuko and Mai would make the perfect comedy duo. Combining Yuuko’s stupidity with Mai’s sincere attempts to literally blow your mind away make for some of the funniest school jokes I’ve ever seen. That last skit between the two had me a little confused at first, but after I sat and watched it a few times the humor of it started to rub off on me. In the end it really makes me question just what kind of relationship Yuuko and Mai share. I don’t know about you but I’d avoid getting on Mai’s bad side at all costs.

Random experimental parrots, kids whose hair don’t grow from the sides, and big guns girls with big guns. What more could you ask for?

    1. So why are you still commenting about a show you don’t watch? Go find something you like instead and don’t post here. I for one find this show very funny. Some jokes fall flat but overall the LOL moments in this show more then make up for it. The mohawk dude who can’t grow hair and Mio and her “bald” joke were true gems.

      1. I like how you purposely ignored all my other posts about this episode and tried to pretend like I’m just bashing the show.

You’re coming off as someone who can’t stand anyone else’s opinions other than your own.

I don’t like Mio (it’s really Yukko I don’t like) or Yukko, they make the show boring, but they’re only part of the show.

I understand the bit about bashing a show with one liners like ” the show sucks etc”, but you’re acting like the typical unlikable fanboy trying to defend with all your might at the wrong thing.

      2. Lol I looked at your other posts and my assumptions were correct.

You attack everyone that isn’t oh so in love with whatever you like and come off as an asshole.

Others have told you about yourself, yet you still just don’t get it.Such a pity really.

      3. I don’t think Karma would have bashed you if he actually read your other posts. However, most people post all their thoughts in ONE post rather than split them up into 2 different ones, so isn’t it understandable if the person mistook your post as a bashing? After all, your post seems to have implied that you don’t watch the series due to a terrible Episode 0.

Personally, I really like the weird interactions between Mai & Yuuko. Maybe it’s because I love contrast of all sorts

    2. @ anishuma

sorry but after reading this your the only one coming off as an ass here Xb
and lol you didnt look thru other posts just to find his posts cause if you did you wouldnt be calling him an asshole hes just like me and is sick of people like you postin crap like what you did above its ok if you dont like certain characters just dont go around saying it without reason behind it cause from reading wat you put down which isnt much it looks like your just bashin the show to be an ass that is all :3

anyways good episode and cant wait till the next

      1. Sorry I didn’t right 3 essays explaining a simple thing about why Mio and Yukko isn’t funny to me.

Not liking 2 characters in a show where the focus is not on any one character does not mean that the person is bashing the entire show. Also, not liking an episode does not mean not liking the entire series.

Your whole post was made out of spite in order to defend that asshole Karma, in this case you’re just being an asshole to me for not liking your favorite characters.

You, just like Karmafan, are typical fanboys just being assholes.

  1. I loved how the jump rope swingers just gave up after Sakurai got hit and she kept jumping anyway lol.The parts with Sakamato, Nano, and Hakase are my favorites next to Sasahara’s appearances (which there should be more of and less Yukko.)

Mai’s trolling is wasted on Yukko, it’d be better if she was paired up with Mio.Mio has her moments, but she doesn’t really shine to me because she mainly gets paired up with Yukko and their tag team jokes are usually stale ;/.

Sakamoto was hilarious in this episode, falling for one of the oldest tricks in the book.I’m not sure, but I believe I heard a cover of a familiar song when that Mohawk kid had some screentime flattening his hair.

I always look forward to the Janken matches. It’s cute when Nano and Hakase do the Janken dance.

  2. Mio is trolling Yuuko.
Or at least, I’ve done the same before, and I was trolling the other person.

Basically, the other person isn’t all that bright.
You try to brush them off courteously, but the subtleties are lost on them.
They keep following you around, trying to be friends, so eventually your ‘brush off’ attempts become more and more obvious, until it becomes a game of “how hard can I troll this person before they realise I’m trolling them”.
So you troll them, and then tell them that you were just kidding/joking. If they believe you, you troll them harder, repeat.
At this point, you’re no longer trying to brush them off, because trolling them is so fun.

Exactly what Mio was doing to Yuuko.

    1. I once brought an old, cleaned-out deodorant bar filled with white chocolate to school, and took it out during a bland conversation with someone, and took a bite from it. His reaction was very similar to Yuuko’s, though a little more subdued. He was smiling one second and then BAM, that WTF face, his eyes locked on the bite mark. lol

  3. Mai’s trolling in the mid-terms exam and the whole “yuri” segment had me in stitches. I’m loving the wackiness more and more, it’s been long since I’ve looked forward to every Monday. I can’t wait!

    T.K.
  4. I love how Hakase and Nano are so abnormal in character design, but seem to focus on fairly normal things, whereas Mio-tachi are seemingly normal but deal with bizarre occurrences most of the time.

  5. The show so far is incredibly random but funny. Hakase and Nano having joined by Sakamoto is the funniest part i would say. Mio using the wig, bald wig is really a massive troller. her part with Yuko where she basically did a fishing style troll of reel in, relax, reel in was really terrible but funny. The part where Mio “confessed” to romantic feelings and Yuko’s attempts to “let her down” gently were good 🙂

  6. Keima makes a comeback and is still amusing as hell. I d’awd when he covered for gundere.

And here I thought last episode’s trolling was out of conTROLL. Guess I was wrong. Now the trolling is set in enthusiast level. Hilarity ensues. I just love it when Mai was distracting Yuuko all througout the exam period. She even trolled that she was bald. I just lost it when the camera panned to the left showing the Principal getting trolled far off to the background.

Second part of Mai’s trolling was just oddly a win. I dunno why but I approve of Mai’s strange bonerific cute yuri trolling. And I’m not even into yuri stuffs. Doujin circles better get moving.

On a sidenote. New additions were hilarious. The mohawk kid was pretty funny. I laughed so hard when he was shocked when his mom barged into his room with that doorky hair. The parakeet was an epic win as well. Short but very hilarious.

Overall a funny follow up from last week’s episode.

I don’t know about you guys, but I really want more Mio moments in this show. The lack of reason that she provides is exactly why moments like these occur. Mai x Yuuko & Mio x Yuuko duo’s have their merits. So far I love Mai x Yuuko skits in terms of hilarity.

  7. You guys gotta remember, this is a 2-cour show. They can’t be using up all their funny material just yet! (Sure Episodes 1 and 2 were amazing, but 3 and 4 were still funny in their own right.)

I don’t think KyoAni will disappoint. -prays-

    1. What I’m wondering is whether the show will get it’s own OC episode. If they pull it off then hats off to them. They pulled a great deal of OC in K-ON!! so why not here. Lucky Star I’m not that sure off. I haven’t actually gotten to finish the show but seeing some of the clips in YT really cracked me up good.

  8. OK, now who else here is rather disappointed that Mai acting cute in her yuri confession was actually a part of her epic trolling on Yuuko? XD

I actually went heads over hells at Mai blushing. That’s the effect cool and quiet anime girls can have on people when they actually do blush – just watch Yuki do so in the Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi.

Ah well, there’s always the doujinshis for me. 🙂

  9. Four episodes and it sill has me cracking up.

This series is meant for nothing more than a good laugh. Try not to look too much deeper than that into it.

The only downside is a lot of the jokes are culture or language based… so they tend to go well over my head.

  10. Wow, Sasahara seems to be made for a life in politics; misdirection AND making people feel like they’ve learned/accomplished something. The Mai “yuri” troll was also pretty epic.
