「計算をこえるもの」 (Keisan o Koeru Mono)
“Something Beyond Reckoning”

Virgo sure knows how to dance!

Pretty much like I’d expected, we got to see Gajeel’s team and the Strauss siblings work their way to get their clock parts today. I must say, Shadow Gear’s teamwork really fascinated me as it only seemed to make things worse. It was very fun to watch.

The spotlights were on Lily this week (and Virgo because of that epic dance). It was nice to see him put the overconfident Samuel in his place. While it is good to have a strategy prepared before a battle, it’s also important to have in mind that sometimes it isn’t bulletproof.

Gajeel has always been a strong dragon slayer. I was a bit surprised that he ended up having such an easy opponent. I knew Lily would be fighting Samuel, which was a given fact from the opening sequence. Same goes with Hughes being the Strauss siblings’ opponent, but I didn’t expect Byro to show up where Natsu is. It’s a bit strange that Natsu’s team ended up having three enemies (although Coco doesn’t count). Technically, no one followed Erza’s team, at least not a Legionnaire. Am I the only one who thinks this is questionable? It’s not a bad thing, just a bit surprising.

Something else that is quite surprising is how easily the Legionnaires are going down, one by one. No one in FAIRY TAIL except Gajeel’s team (who didn’t even need to fight with Lily being an exception) has gone through some training, so technically they aren’t stronger now. It has really been a lot of weight on the comedy lately. Every team has won in a slightly hilarious way which is fine with me, but it can be considered a bit odd, not that I mind, however, it would be nice to see a decent fight based on strength or wits.

Next week we’ll see the Strauss siblings fight Hughes, so expect some fancy shots of Mira and Lisanna – hopefully they’ll be full-lengths! We’ll also see Natsu fighting Byro and it seems like Lucy will protect Coco. As for Michelle, I somehow doubt her a lot now. I suspected she might be evil a few episodes ago and some of you have been commenting about it. Her betrayal is something I can see happening soon because something about her just felt off today, but I still hope this assumption is wrong as I like her current relationship with Lucy.

I’m looking forward to next week. It seems like we’re up for a good action episode, but also a lot of revelations based on the title – I could be wrong though!

Moete kitazou!

Full-length shots: 14, 33, 34

  1. I was kinda lost at that Strauss siblings but then I remember Elfman and her sisters. It just sounded weird to me since I don’t remember their surnames really but don’t mind me 😛

OMG Griffon Kato! And so many of him. The statues I mean.
Aside from the Jiggle Butt Gang, it’s nice to get some more shoutouts to Rave Master.
The biography from Dan was hilarious as well as the dance from Virgo. I always love her character plus she’s voice by Sawashiro Miyuki .<

  2. I think the Fairy Tail team needs a smart strategist like Samuel. Also, Lucy has a doppelganger!! So far there’s Plu, Griffon, The Jiggly Butt Gang, Rave necklace around Gray’s neck, Erza Nightwalker’s ace weapon,… references of Rave Master shown in the anime. There’s still two more that I can think of to be shown.

  3. Pretty late but really want to point up something.

Wonder why Samuel called Pantherlily, “Nii-san” in the first place? This is might probably related to “Supernatural The Animation” whereas Uchida Yuuya voiced as Sam Winchester (as Samuel in Fairy Tail) while Touchi Hiroki voiced as Dean Winchester (as Pantherlily in Fairy Tail). Coincidence?
