“New Guild”

With 45435413215 new characters in this arc, it will be hard to keep track of all the seiyuu, so I thought I’d make a small list with all of them at once. I’ll be including the FAIRY TAIL ones as well so the list seems complete. Any missing seiyuu will be updated as soon as I have more information. If you know any seiyuu, please tell me so I can complete this list. If you do not wish to know any character’s name, then don’t open this list. It contains all the names of the characters that can be seen in the opening sequence, not just the ones that were shown in today’s episode.

FAIRY TAIL A ▼

FAIRY TAIL B ▼

Blue Pegasus ▼

Lamia Scale ▼

Mermaid Heel ▼

Quatro Cerberus ▼

Raven Tail ▼

Sabertooth ▼

Wow, that list sure took time to write. Anyway, today’s episode was a nice introduction to the games and we have now been introduced to the participating guilds, or perhaps “teams” is a better word because FAIRY TAIL has two of them. It sure is interesting to see guilds raising their odds of winning by having two teams participate, but that also means that these two teams will be fighting each other. Logically speaking, the B team is the stronger one because it has two S-class magi in it, as well as a former S-class (Juvia was used to be one of Phantom Lord’s S-class magi), but then again, physical strength has always never been an issue in FAIRY TAIL. It’s all about your friends. When motivated by nakama, you can overcome any problem!

So, now that all the teams have been introduced, the game is on. Well, we’ll have to wait till next episode for some actual fights, but now we know what things will look like. I must say I preferred the introduction part much more in the anime than the manga because the entrances were done in such a spectacular way. My favourite entrance was actually Sabertooth’s. While FAIRY TAIL A is my favourite team, Sabertooth’s entrance really left an impression and was the most memorable one from this day. They are the strongest guild for now so the glory is all theirs. Not for too long I hope…

Every guild had something special during the opening ceremony. While Sabertooth’s entrance was marvellous, it seems like all eyes were on Mermaid Heel, well, all men’s eyes. I guess female magi are really rare and attractive? I didn’t spot any females in the audience swooning over Quatro Cerberus which is a guild with all males. Very interesting, hmm… Lamia Scale and Blue Pegasus are two guilds we’ve seen before so they weren’t really interesting to look at but both guilds have some new members. Blue Pegasus has a mysterious blue bunny with them. They also have a female member who is commenting on this game! Lamia Scale has brought Chelia, the cousin of Sherry. Much like her cousin, this well-endowed loli also talks above love. She is very cute, but my favourite loli is Mavis!

Mavis is hands down, the most adorable character of this series to me. She is powerful, kind-hearted, sweet, and such a fun character. Watching her childish appearance intimidate the current master was really hilarious. Ah, I’m so happy to see her again.

Having most of the characters introduced now, it’s obvious that while Sabertooth will be the main challenge for FAIRY TAIL, Raven Tail will play the role of the antagonists for now. The guild itself has a very sinister aura, and knowing that Ivan is related to it can’t be good. It’s a bit surprising that they’re allowed to participate despite harming Wendy. But then again, this tournament’s rules seem to be very easy to change, and the entire system seems to allow a leeway for most things. Hopefully Jellal will be able to find something out now that he has snuck in by participating as Mystogan – quite a clever thing to do.

Now that all the participants have been introduced, the main game is on. In this first fight we’ll have one member from each team. From FAIRY TAIL we have Gray and Juvia. I ship them so it’s quite hard for me to root for one of them here but if I have to choose, I’ll go with Juvia because she is hilarious. As for the game itself, that’ll have to wait till next week. I’m definitely looking forward to that!

Moete kitazou!

  1. Maybe this time around I can finally remember the names of the other characters participating in here. I had a hard time remembering some of them in the manga.
And looks like some of them have some prominent seiyuu doing them. Nazuka Kaori doing Jenny is great already. Iguchi Yuka doing another red haired character this season with Chelia(loli with boobs ftw). From that one line Kagura said here, I don’t think Hayami Saori fits her.
And oh man, Itou Shizuka as Flare. Scary.

    Let the games begin!

  2. I think it may be a side-effect from not watching the fillers and picking Fairy Tail back up upon the start of this arc, but the anime seems much more underwhelming to me, which is especially strange now that we’re the second most, if not most epic arc.

A personal nitpick would be the cast of voices they’ve brought in. I find them pretty unfitting, Mavis’s even, which was a bit disappointing. Her appearance/entrace was really underwhelming.

Nonetheless, really hoping the best for this arc because reading it the manga was amazing.
    I’m slightly fired up!!

  3. Boo to those who were booing at Fairy Tail. I felt a chill down my back when I saw FT Team B.
Oh man it was hilarious how Team Pegasus was picking their prize members of FT Team A.
And it wasn’t that unexpecting to see Mavis again since she is in the ending. Anyways, GO FAIRY TAIL! GO BOTH TEAMS! Let the games begin~

  4. wow..did not know kaji yuuki was lyon..probably the first role from him that didn’t irritate the hell out of me. Also, I did not know sakurai and suzumura voiced sting and rogue. I usually recognize their voices..I guess that just shows how good they are.
