「100%の女の子」 (100% no Onna no Ko)
“A 100% Girl”

I should’ve realized it sooner, but making sense of all the nonsense is near impossible. There does seem to exist a plot, but said plot is so spontaneous and unpredictable that I’m not even going to try predicting what’s coming up next. In fact, I’m going to table the mystery of our cute red hair twintail for now, because anything I say, you’ve already thought of yourself. Is she a rabbit? Is she a product of Azuki Azusa’s wish? What is reality? All those questions will be left until we can garner more information, though it does interest me that Pollarola Emanuela (Aimi) seems to hint at being a connecting factor for many of the characters, linking the Tsutsukakushi, Yokodera, and Azuki families together in a strange manner.

What I am interested in though, and what is more open to analysis, is the development that Tsukiko carries throughout every single episode, this one not being an exception. While Azuki may have her running gag about Okinawa and Tsukushi having her twin brother delusion, Tsukiko’s running plotlines are much more diverse. Despite being the character that can display the least amount of emotions, she is the one to perhaps express the most through her words. Her character is the signal that there is a continuity between the episodes–today’s episode had Tsukiko references how the painful distance Youto imposed on her was suddenly betrayed by the presence of new characters. She remembers, and she makes sure Youto remembers as well through biting prose (that tennis analogyso good). Amidst all the unpredictability, Tsukiko is probably one of the better crafted plot elements of the show, as the true “stony cat” of the series. I do pity her character though–for all the effort she puts into winning over Youto, Youto himself doesn’t seem to be interested in any of the characters specifically, but rather to be free to roam the perverted wild. Whether or not we should expect a marked shift in Youto’s attitude for Tsukiko’s benefit is yet to be seen.

Hopefully the other characters follow suite and continue to push forward a continuity in their character development–watching characters grow, especially in a romantic comedy, is especially pleasing to watch, and is a pleasure to see them nod to past events in a meaningful way. Now then, if we can just get a few more appearances of Mai to set the Prince in his rightful place, everything could be so much more better.

Great sprawling ruins and tonnes of attractive young girls in swimsuits treating you like royalty. Hell- that coulda been anybody’s wish.

    • June 3, 2013 at 6:13 pmCarVac

Ah, but who else would have wished that the girls in swimsuits treat Yokodera like royalty?

why is this called “A 100% Girl”?

That’s a bit harsh. It’s just taken a bizarre direction. You, like I, was probably thinking this series would stick to a more realistic romantic perhaps harem approach. I’ve since given up on the notion and have come to accept its randomness.

I’m actually not too sure for what reason I’m still watching the series, other than that it doesn’t bore me. I do think the eccentric characters are pretty fun. Tsukushi’s just awesome imo, she takes everything so seriously yet too such extremes that I can’t help but feel she’s having fun. Azuki is a lot cuter and more fun after she gave up the facade. This brings up Tsukiko.

Anyone think that this series would be better if Tsukiko got her emotions back already? Like Azuki, I feel she’d be so much cuter and more fun. I mean I absolutely loved the way she acted and reacted to Youto when they first met at the tree. Not to mention, like Zanibas says, she holds the most in terms of plot and development, so it’d be nice if she didn’t come off so dull.

To be honest, I think Tsukiko’s lack of expressions is the core of the show. An expressive Tsukiko would just add another generic, happy-go-around, secretly in love with the MC, character in a romcom show. The quirkiness of the characters is what makes the series fun and unique to watch. Having Tsukiko be “normal” again would be like stripping Rikka off her chuunibyou in Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!, or making Mashiro more “realistic” in her reactions in Sakurasou. While all of them are interesting spin-off ideas compared to their already established character traits, I think that their respective shows were benefited way more with how they were actually portrayed. As unique and weirdos, in a good sense.

^What he said.I can’t get enough of expressionless Tsukiko – nano desu.

      • June 4, 2013 at 5:48 pmRigelin

I see where you’re getting at. I guess the difference is, is that I find your other examples to be fun and full of emotions, while I find Tsukiko a bit bland. I guess just personally I don’t find it the whole stone faced thing entertaining. It’d be nice if there were jokes played off her monotone voice, like irony or something. Actually that probably has happened, I just didn’t catch the joke.

      • June 4, 2013 at 5:52 pmRigelin

Oh and I didn’t really like Mashiro either, so I guess I’m just not a fan of those kinds of characters. I’m on the Aoyama ship :P. Although, I do love the dynamic and character interactions that she had with Sorata. It was almost like a straightman comedy show with Mashiro doing bizarre things nonchalantly and Sorata overreacting to it.

      • June 4, 2013 at 10:34 pmTassadar

Well, it comes down to personal preference I suppose. The thing that excites me about Tsukiko is the fact that we (as the audience) are forced to interpret her mood and intentions by just paying attention to what she says; not how she says it and how it shows on her face. In a way, you could say that we are always engaged in mind games when watching Tsukiko. And that is despite of the fact that most of the times Tsukiko’s lines and reactions are written in such a way that it is not too hard to understand her emotions.

As for Sakurasou in particular, I was kinda on the Aoyama ship too, but I liked Mashiro a lot as well so I would go for the harem route (if there was one!). One for the kitchen and one for the bedroom, if you know what I mean! /wink

The way Emanuela introduces herself…anyone else remember back to how Tsukiko came to express herself while wearing a mask with Youto in the past?

    • June 4, 2013 at 3:08 amderprito

The mask is anime filler to waste half the episode

      • June 4, 2013 at 3:40 amckuri

Have you read the light novel or this statement just based on the manga?

The “plot” is going all over the place and is starting to make me paranoid. The fact that anybody can make a wish at any where at all apparently is just madness. There is wishception everywhere.

    • June 3, 2013 at 6:54 pmMegas

You guys might as well be talking about the long extinct life on Mars when it comes to the plot of this show. It’s there & all, buried in rocks or muddled in some cat statue.

We can always wish to the cat statue to make the plot less SFGTHgdfefgbDFAEFGgdb (gibberish) but then it’ll make it disappear altogether :p

    • June 3, 2013 at 8:23 pmNekomimimeido

Dont care about plot.. This gives me entertainment. That is enough.

“Hello, is this the police? I’d like to report a loli-pedo hybrid pervert in the neighborhood.”

    • June 4, 2013 at 5:00 amMgMaster

The fact that she’s a loli herself made that scene even funnier :P

With all due respect, every single one of your posts I’ve seen you post on RC so far has been nothing but a rehash of each episode’s synopsis in poor English. I would not have minded the poor English had you had posted something that resembles a comment with your thoughts, no matter how simple it is, but I see nothing of the sort in your posts.

A troll post would have more substance than all this mindless spamming.

I love the Mt Everest LOL XD

Tsukishi is the best. I’m dying Tsukishi tenderness that showed in the last part of the episode. I hope that once and for all she understand that there an only Youto.

In a way I feel sorry for the situation of Youto, all the girls around him are cute but with big problems and demanding his attention. I do not want to be in his shoes. I support and help all my friends, but I’m not psychologist.

  • June 3, 2013 at 10:38 pmmianghuei

How does Tsukiko not get fat??

  • June 3, 2013 at 10:41 pmewok40k

    …Perverted Prince… of tennis? :P

Tsukishi still can’t face the truth that there is only one Yokodera.

I understand that Youto treat Tsukiko as a friend. I just can’t tell if Youto really like Tsukiko or not.

  • June 4, 2013 at 2:27 amAnanas

Tsukiko is turning into a no fun allowed kind of person.
    Tsukushi is doing the opposite.
    More Tsukushi please.
