Big Things Are Coming!

It’s that time of year everyone! One of the largest conventions held in the United States (and I think the biggest on the west coast), Anime-Expo is only one week away! If you haven’t already registered for the convention, here’s a handy link to that page. And if you were thinking of holding off and attempting to purchase a badge on day one to avoid that absolutely horrible line from last year, it looks like the convention has a proper company handling registration this time around! Which should mean expedited service so you can hopefully get in and out a lot quicker.

Anyways, this year’s schedule looks jam packed with some really awesome events. From a special performance by Momoiro Clover Z to a special Fate/Stay Night [UBW] event that includes a performance by Aimer and Ayano Mashiro, we even have an American band known as Anamanaguchi making an appearance (they apparently combine chiptune and bitpop which already sounds more than awesome)! On the studio side of things it looks like Studio Trigger will be returning to update us about Little Witch Academia 2 as well as dragging some staff and (english?) voice actors from Kill la Kill along! There’s also Inafune Keiji of Megaman and Mighty No. 9 fame, CLANNAD character designer Hinoue Itaru, and mastermind Tsuda Naokatsu who is known for bringing Jojo into our lives. Check out this link for the entire list of guests who are attending this year.

Ever since the LiSA concert a few years back, I’ve been a firm believer that Anime-Expo has been on a steady climb back to epicness. With each year bringing even larger events and tons of bigwigs in the industry, it’s definitely the event you have to hit up if you’re trying to see the brilliant people behind some of your favorite series. For me personally, I’m extremely excited to attend some of this year’s panel. I know that some people think they’re boring, but how can you not go and see some of the people who’ve created some of your favorite shows? There’s Pony Canyon USA, Production IG, and Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusda de Aru just to name a few (yes, I’m going to try to be at all of them!) and as the schedule gets fully released I’ll try to list some of the others that I’ll totally be hitting up.

Besides that, I’ll be walking around with my camera taking pictures of the venue itself for people who couldn’t make it as well as trying to capture all the cosplays that catch my eye. I’ll also be cosplaying a little too! My current plans are Kagami Junichirou from Denpa Kyoushi and Arima Kousei from Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso — feel free to say hi if you catch my horrible cosplay!

As always, I’m always down to say hi to any RC-er who happens to be there! If you want to know where I’m at, shoot me a tweet @rctakaii or an e-mail at takaii at randomc dot net.

  3. Ah, the one year I’m not going to anime expo :X Though the lineup for special events looks superb this year! Love Live Concert, Fate Stay Night performance, etc. Hope you guys have fun. Also, the biggest con in the west coast is San Diego Comic Con (which I’m going to, yay :D) But anime expo is probably the second biggest.
