「Kyuuketsu Bouhime」 (吸血暴姫)
“The Tyrant Vampire Princess”

I think that was the most explosive introduction for a character we’ve seen yet.

Urzaiz Irene and Her Fangs

Leaping onto the scene with a ferocity that matches her wild style, Irene’s introduction episode was a fun one. Besides being strong and able to hold her own in a fight, seeing her powers in action was pretty frightening. Which in hindsight makes sense when her competition includes two overpowered AI and the constantly improving Ayato x Julis combo.

Getting back on track though, who would have thought there’d be an Ogre Lux capable of manipulating gravity? Besides sounding ridiculously overpowered, how in the world are you supposed to defeat someone who can pin you down using only a downward force? Throw in her ability to shoot spheres of condensed space that have their gravity amplified a ridiculous amount and it almost makes the price of using that weapon sound reasonable!

Except in Irene’s case, there isn’t really a drawback when you have an unlimited blood supply right next to you. Sure, she’s sucking the blood out of her own sister, but what does it really matter if her ability can put her right back into tip-top shape?

Anyways, I guess it all rounds out since Irene’s attachment to her younger sister is so cute and endearing that maybe, just maybe her tough exterior is more of a rouse to keep people away from the both of them.

One Disappointing Point

If I had one complaint with this new arc, it’d have to be just how ridiculous all these new characters seem. From overpowered AI robots to a girl who can control gravity, it feels like things are quickly spiraling into a totally different realm. Being honest, I guess it’s within the limits of the story’s universe, but it makes you wonder why there aren’t even more overpowered genestella with all the scheming and dirty tactics going on in the background.

Looking Ahead

Seeing how this is split two-cour series, I’m really hoping things don’t fizzle out toward the end. That said, we do have a couple episodes left and hopefully there’s another good fight or two waiting for us in there.

Catch you guys next week!

  1. Irene sounds like she may be the next member of out group. I have to wonder what her captors(?) are holding over her to make her obey them. She seems like she’s strong enough on her own let alone with her imouto’s help to defy anyone attempting to control her.

    1. It’s always the sibling. I dunno how, but the school has its claws in her somehow. Maybe her power has a nasty side effect that they’re promising to cure or something. Or maybe it’s just an old-fashioned death threat.

    1. perhaps i saw to many Animes in my life. but lately i done this in real life with my nephew, and he likes it. i caught him telling a little lie about knowing English to play a game. So i asked to read some English, he could not. so then i read it for him, he still do not understand. so i done this head pant and he admit his “defeat” 🙂

not all are bad things we learn from animes

Don’t forget that Claudia, supposedly, is able to see into the future with her Ogre Lux. That’s pretty OP too.

    1. I think I like that the power isn’t “theirs” but there weapons. Sure they all seem awesome, but each weapon also has a pretty big drawback. Ayato only gets recognized at full-power, Irene got turned it a vampire, and Claudia has a doozy as well that we’ll probably see. How many Ogre-Lux are there, anyway? Kirin, Julis, and Saya could be seen as exceptions to this, but their backstories aren’t really ordinary, either.

I’m also including the bots here, cause why else would they need limiters if they weren’t as good as advertised? It isn’t like their creator has shown any concern for human life.

  3. Got in time to catch up this series.

So far, things are getting interesting with Ayato being targeted by the Le Wolfe Academy.

As for the battles I’ve seen so far, I’m impressed with Saya‘s capability in using her gun (possibly her most biggest one yet) as a shield.

In fact, I find it easier to understand this series better than the other similar show this season (https://randomc.net/category/rakudai-kishi-no-cavalry/); not to mention I don’t find GTA‘s weapon-technology usage to be ridiculously OP. Of course this is a sci-fi series, which I’ve to admit I’m very obsessed with the genre regardless of complex scientific terms.

Anyway, the flow of character and plot development won’t be disrupted with complex explanation scientific terms regarding the Asterisk weapons. I won’t be surprised if the 2nd cour starts in Spring 2016 due to the continuation of the LN.

  4. I really don’t see Irene as intimidating as she is suppose to be portrayed. Just take away her defenseless sister and its a win. Unless of course it is actually the sister who is the stronger between the two based on how Irene submitted to her when she stopped her tirade with Ayato. (Oh sh*t! I remember the MC’s name!!!)
