「和泉マサムネと一千万部の宿敵」 (Izumi Masamune to Issenmanbun no Shukudeki)
“Izumi Masamune and the Nemesis of Ten Million Copies”

Was I the only one who sometimes thought the characters were saying Masamune when they were actually saying Murmasa?

General Impressions

Overall, I thought this week’s episode was actually pretty good. Sure, I may be a bit biased since we got to see all of my favorite characters, but bias aside I think anyone who has been enjoying the show should have been able to find something they enjoyed.

Boy was it fun to see Megumin completely out of her element. Starting with her assault on Light Novels and to a lesser extend Tomoe, I would have bet money that there’d some sort of divine retribution headed toward her for uttering such words in a show like this. Instead, we got to see Tomoe load her up on all the essentials for a newbie about to venture into the Light Novel universe, something that I don’t think you can really call a “punishment” minus the ridiculous number of books she picked up all at once. That said, I think it’s fair to say that a little later down the road Megumin managed to end up in a pretty precarious situation. I say that because had this been any other show, I think anyone watching (and probably any character involved) would have some interesting comments to make after seeing just what kind of hoops Megumin had to jump through to “see” Sagiri. Truth be told, I was actually really surprised just how laid back it felt seeing Megumin literally bound up and blindfolded especially when the show really went out of its way to give us some choice angles. Luckily though, we had everything resolve pretty smoothly with Megumin getting a little closer with Sagiri and Sagiri getting the inspiration she needed from Megumin.

However, what I probably enjoyed most about this week’s episode was probably the moment when I got to see Elf get completely outclassed by Muramasa. As we’ve seen, sales figures are an important gauge of an author’s “power level” and Elf is never shy to tell everyone just how well she’s done. Something that may come off as annoying to some, but has just enough “real life” feeling behind it to make it feel meaningful. Which is why I nearly died containing in my embarrassment (and a little laughter) when the girl that Elf had been berating revealed that she was the one any only Muramasa Senju. Something that I think we all realized was coming, but didn’t lose any impact when the moment finally hit.

All things considered, this week’s episode wasn’t too bad. Serving as more of a setup episode for what’s to come, it looks like we’re riding the wave to another climax that looks like ends with Muramasa and Masamune battling it out over whose dream will reign supreme. In any case, I’ll catch you guys next week when we’ll hopefully find out just what Muramasa wants and why she harbors so much animosity toward Masamune. See you then!

Eromanga’s the most popular current series being watched on Japan’s top anime streaming site, d-Anime store.

For others, Akashic Records comes in at #2. Viewers say it’s a very competently paced adaptation (or it’s the sexy uniforms).

Titan and Sword Oratoria come in at #3 & #4 respectively.
    Royal Tutor’s at 9th place.

TBH, I found Tomoe’s approach quite ingenious. Ignorant b*tch badmouthing your work? Why argue and further alienate her when you can turn her into a paying customer? Absolutely brilliant.

The divine retribution came with Sagiri IMO. Blindfolded and bound while being leered at by a girl who’s intent on drawing underwear, then getting it pulled down in front of a guy? Bloody hilarious. It’s a rich payback for the stunts Megumin pulled in earlier episodes.

also seems like Saigiri made most of the poses herself with help of a mirror or handy pictures. remember when she put on a Bikini and made then a Photo from the angel of her butt? But seems like here she needed help….

also, this is not a Boy… Its his Brother… i know, but for her he is just a brother

So, have we decided who’s Kuroneko 2.0 exactly? Because I’m still thinking it’s Elf.

Most likely, the author reshuffled the character traits, so we won’t get a 1:1 correlation. Frankly, it’s a blessing since that means we won’t see a Kirino-type (30% tsun, 70% bitch) ever again.
