「春」 (Haru)
“Spring”

I’m rather impressed with how many different characters this show has.

General Impressions

Continuing on strong after last week’s great introductory episode, this week’s episode keeps pushing forward with a strong sense of identity by skipping all the fluff and getting straight to the point. While things overall may have felt a little slower (especially toward the middle), the fact that the entire episode from start to finish is only 13 and a half minutes kept things moving just quick enough for the pacing to not really matter. That said, I don’t think there was anything in the episode that was particularly “bad” but probably best described as not resonating well with me.

If I had to pick my favorite moment out of this week’s episode though, it’d probably end up as a tossup between Hotaru’s introduction and awkward attempt at a confession between Sugawara and Takano. The former provided everything that I wanted from this show — ridiculous situations with characters taking things straight to a 10 and sometimes even hitting an 11 by accident while the latter was a return to planet earth as I realized that not everyone in this show is blessed with the luck to get what they want.

Overall, not too bad of a second episode especially when you consider it more of one designed to introduce characters and set things up for the future. Judging from all the people we see in the opening, it looks like we still have about and episode or two left before we get an opportunity to see everyone. Luckily, it looks like we’ll be in for a fantastic ride as we transition from introductions to the actual “meat” of the story.

In any case, I’ll probably be back next week to cover episode three since this show is just too darn cute and amazing. See you then!

  1. Tsurezure’s cast is quite large, to the point that there are a good number of characters that aren’t in the OP and presumably won’t be in this season. Can’t really blame the producers for that, since if they did actually use every character we’d be getting introductions until episode 6 at least. XD

  2. The opening pair and his sister had me laughing harder than I’ve laughed at any anime since the “notice me senpai!” moment in the second to last episode of Bungo Stray Dogs. Him being uncomfortably sandwiched between the over possessive little sister and the mischievous/flirty girl who just rolls with it – “What am I, huh?” indeed – was just perfectly executed all around.

    YAY! Thanks Takaii!

God, I like the brocon part so much I’ve been watching it so many times before I come to comment lol. Tomacchan, you’ve outdone yourself. Your boyish voice is giving it away though, although I feel it fits Hotaru-chan perfectly haha poor brother

  4. I don’t mind that there are so many characters in this series since they all have their own “story” and go to the same school. Can’t wait to see some development as this series goes on.
