Summary:
After a recap of what happened in Soul Society, we learn what happened a week after Aizen left. Some of the healed men are making trouble for the fourth division workers, but they are quieted by Captain Unohana. Meanwhile, Ikkaku is holding fighting matches when Ichigo shows up to challenge him. Their bout is short-lived though, because Captain Zaraki arrives to fight Ichigo, but since Ichigo doesn’t want to fight the captain, he runs away instead. Captain Komamura, on the other hand, is visiting the grave of Captain Tousen’s friend. The captain vows to VC Hisagi that they’ll bring Tousen back. In the eleventh division headquarters, VC Matsumoto is still angsting about Ichimaru, but Hitsugaya informs her that she has a visitor: Kira. She has of course forgiven him and invites him to eat and drink. While those two are partying, Hitsugaya goes to visit Hinamori, who is still unconscious.
Since they are returning home soon, Ishida has remade the group’s original clothes with his tailoring knowledge. He even did Rukia’s dress, and so Inoue decides to go take it to her, and somehow comes to the realization that Ishida likes Rukia. Unable to find Rukia, Inoue runs into Ichigo, who had finally escaped Zaraki. They ask Renji and Captain Kuchiki, but those two don’t know where Rukia went either. Since Renji didn’t know, Ichigo figures out that probably no one else did either. He suspects that there’s only one place she could have gone. Indeed, Rukia went out and found Kuukaku and Ganjuu so that she could apologize to them for killing Kaien. Kuukaku had heard the whole story from Captain Ukitake, so she was ready to forgive Rukia. When Ichigo and Inoue show up, Rukia breaks the news to them that she’s staying in Soul Society and not going back. Although he’s slightly surprised, Ichigo realizes that if that’s what Rukia wants, then it’s ok. When the next day comes around, Ichigo and company leave through the gate after saying their goodbyes and after Ukitake gives Ichigo a substitute shinigami fighting license.
Ichigo and company, including Yoruichi in cat form, travel back through the dangai to get to the human world, but emerge above the city. Fortunately, Urahara and his people catch them and welcome them home. Urahara formally apologizes, but Ichigo doesn’t mind, though he does tell Urahara to apologize to Rukia sometime. Everyone gets off at their own stop, though Ishida tells Ichigo that when they meet again, they’ll be enemies (Shinigami and Quincy). Ichigo himself gets off early and walks back home to the family clinic.

So they did do what I thought they’d do and recapped Soul Society for the first half of this episode (b/c otherwise they wouldn’t have enough material to take up the hour without dipping into the next arc). The recap bits transitioned fairly well with the “One week after” stuff. Most of the supporting cast gets some screen time as Ichigo and company prepared to return home. There’s a lot of forgiving going on (Matsumoto and Kira, Rukia to the Shibas, Urahara to Ichigo) as everyone is patching up relations strained by the situations. And Ichigo saying “I’m home” outside of the clinic feels like a nice way to end the episode and the arc.
As for the next arc, it looks like Renji will be involved in the human world, along with at least three new villains. I’m not too impressed by how they look, partly because they remind of the villains of Black Cat and partly because I’ve gotten so used to the style of dress from Soul Society. And there’s plenty of questions about how they’ll handle characters in this “filler” arc relating to the next manga arc (Rukia for example), but I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Edit: I forgot to mention that there’s a new ED airing next week, 「マイペース」 (My Pace) by SunSet Swish.

  1. Well, that’s what are they going to do, a whole season of filler. We shouldn’t expect any relating to the manga anytime soon; not at least in the next six months or so. Anyway, it has been a fantstic ride and the anime team did a fantastic job in adaptation of the manga. They are entitled to some creativity. If it gets really bad like Naruto, we can always stop watching. ^^

  2. It’s been forever since I watched Bleach!

Renji in the human world huh? Had a feeling this was going to happen 😀
I haven’t seen the manga, but will he be involved in Ichigo’s school? I can imagine funny stuff happening over it XD

  3. No they will HAVE to be doing fillers soon. Cuz look. For every anime episode of Bleach that comes out, they cover about 3 to 4 manga chapters. Every week, only one Bleach manga Chapter is released. It won’t be long before the anime completely catches up to the manga.

No thanks. I’m done with Bleach now. I promised myself I’d watch up to the end of the SS arc, and now that they’re heading into filler, there’s no better time to drop this awful series. Oh, the things I do (did) to hear Fumiko Orikasa’s voice…

  5. You fags, Stop talking shit, if you knew anything about bleach the offical website for the episode listing SAYS ONLY 2 FILLER EPISODES before they go back to the normal manga. You foolish people need to stop talking shit about things you don’t know about. It makes you look stupid THERE IS NO FILLER ARCH LIKE NARUTO.

Fucking Narutards coming here trying to sabotage bleach because its fucking pwning naruto. Go back to your show bitches.

  6. “are u jealous because a lot people like naruto or what?”

Bleach fans don’t need to be jealous of Naruto. Because fact #1 is that Bleach DOES own Naruto. Many people seem to think the two animes have the same director.

  7. Hmmm, I wouldn’t say that Orimhime’s thinking that Ishida likes Rukia is //entirely/ unfounded. I mean, he’s always calling her Kuchiki-san even though he knows she’s a Shinigami, and he hates Shinigami, so….and he came to save Rukia back when Byakuya and Renji came to take Rukia back….and he came to help save Rukia in the SS arc. (although admittedly, his major reason for going to the SS to save Rukia was to not lose out to Ichigo ^^; )

  8. In the preview, Ichigo seems to be protecting something from the flaming monster. If you look really close, there seems to be someone or something standing on his left shoulder. At first I thought it was Yachiru, but it doesn’t seem plausible. Guess I’ll have to wait and see.

Even if Bleach does has a filler arc though, it’s gotta be better than the Naruto nonsense arc. That arc has nothing but hot air and is just there to fill space. At least Bleach is putting in a new enemy instead of some lame “Curry of Life” bull crap.

Shingakki, Renji ni koi tsuga yatte kita !? 「新学期、現世に恋次がやって来た!?」

    065. Creeping Terror, the Second Victim
Shinobi yoru kyoufu, 2 banme no giseisha 「忍び寄る恐怖、2番目の犠牲者」

    066. Break Through! The Trap Hidden in the Labyrinth
Toppa seyo! Meikyuu ni hisomu wana 「突破せよ!迷宮に潜む罠」

I see at least 3 episodes of filler in that.

  11. Although I like Naruto I have to agree, the filler ark actually made me stop watching it. I also heard Bleach will go on a short filler ark as well to give time for the manga to advance. If it does come to the worst lets hope the fillers are at least good.

  12. I don’t think I’ll like the fillers very much. But that won’t make me stop watching it. I’ll be relieved when it gets back to the manga. the manga is super cool right now. The manga really is a lot better than the anime.
