Summary:
Having returned to the Black Order headquarters, Allen orders a lot of food and eats it all because his energy consumption as a parasitic type is high. Komui’s next mission for Allen involves investigating some abnormal weather occurring that could be the related to Innocence. Allen and Kanda set out for the mission with Bookman and Lavi onboard a train, though Allen ends up falling asleep. The group arrives at their destination during a great snowstorm, but Kanda sets out immediately anyway. Allen and the others follow, and they happen to come across a girl and her father lying in the snow along the way. Both are still alive, and the girl tells them about a nearby inn. However, Kanda insists on moving on ahead, so their Finder goes with him while Allen, Lavi, and Bookman go to the inn with the girl and her father. The group learns from the woman running the inn that the pair were looking for the Leaf of Revival. Bookman explains that this is something from Norse mythology for reviving people who didn’t die of natural causes, and the old woman adds that the weather gets bad when people come looking for it.
Since weather gets better the next day, Allen and Lavi go out to look for the Innocence, but the girl named Elda and her father leave at the same time to look for the Leaf again. Seeing that Elda is using skis, Allen tries it too, but ends up losing his balance and crashing into the snow. He then tries to warn Elda and her father against entering the forest, but the father thinks that Allen and Lavi just want to monopolize the Leaf. In response, Allen explains that they are searching for something other than that, and that they are Exorcists. He feels that Elda and her father should stop what they’re doing because they would definitely regret it if they tried to revive the dead. After Allen and Lavi go on ahead, Elda’s father decides to follow them. Allen and Lavi do eventually notice the pair after another storm starts up, so all four decide to take a rest, and Elda and her father eventually fall asleep. Meanwhile, Road is bored since Skin took Lero the umbrella. She gets Tyki Mikk to play with her, but that doesn’t last very long. At the same time, Skin Borric is getting pissed because his men haven’t yet found the Innocence he’s looking for.
Elda wakes up to find Allen and Lavi staring into the distance. Before her father wakes up too, she explains that he is after the Leaf because her younger brother died in a fire. Later that night, the group is discovered and confronted by Skin’s men. Allen uses his eye to identify them as Akuma, and the battle soon begins. With some help from Lavi, Allen activates his gun arm and fires on the enemy, but with limited success. However, the largest of the Akuma is able to stop Lavi’s hammer. Allen is getting buried in the snow when Kanda finally shows up and uses his Kaichuu Ichigen attack. Once the Akuma retreat, Lavi checks up on Allen, who opens his eyes briefly, but soon falls unconscious again.

ED2 Sequence

ED2: 「Pride of Tomorrow」 by JUNE
Watch the ED! Mirror 1 Mirror 2
The new ED’s pretty good, done by Korean singer JUNE. My first impression of it was actually better than when I first heard Baby It’s You from Bleach (though admitted I do like that now). I also can’t quite put my finger on it, but something about the song sounds really familiar.

Well that wasn’t a bad episode, though there was nothing terribly exciting either. It had Lavi, Kanda, and Allen working together, though Kanda ended up being absent for most of it. The best line for me was when Allen told Elda and her father that they would definitely regret it if they tried to revive the dead since we know that Allen is well accustomed with the consequences. Thinking about it now, Allen reminds me in more ways than one of Edward Elric of FMA.
Anyway, next episode looks like it will conclude this mini-arc. After that looks to be a set of episodes about the Sennen no Kenshi (Swordsman of the Millennium).

what ending? even the manga hasn’t ended.

Well, this original filler arc may not be so bad after all. At least it introduces Skin Boric, and doesn’t makes him appear suddenly like in the manga

  2. filler….oh well~ not that is bad but I wanna see Kanda is more actions! xD if he don’t then he might not be able to have the chance to show off~ xD I want more kanda! I mean…the manga? there’s so little Kanda =/ only at like

  3. Yup, this ending is WAYYYY better… I like the upbeat feeling of it as well as the new images; the new Noahs hiding in the corner, the 5 generals, Kanda’s team… Btw, who’s the old dude behind Allen is the black and white scene? Looks alot like,

  4. Hmm, not all that hot about the new ending. Artwork is pretty, but the song doesn’t really fit the show IMO. During the whole sequence the words “promotional marketing” kept flashing on and off in my mind.

I agree with The_Fan! o__o …I don’t like fillers for good animes like this. Dx Still. Rabi braiding Kanda’s hair is always amusing ~ :]

2 episodes… Or, if you mean how many episode left of this arc?…1.

On another note, I’ve just checked the D.gray-man page on ANN. You guys won’t believe the title for episode 18,

  7. I don’t like the new ED at all, as somebody already said, it’s not like D.Gray-Man at all. it evens sounds happy to what it’s going to follow.

Well, I hope it’s not what I think it is. Let her fall in love with an Akuma or something, but not the main character please.
    Or, manga-wise:

  8. They probably included Kanda and the Noahs in order to have more character development. Besides, it’s silly to have to pop up every so often when they’re considered “main characters”.

Sorry to burst your bubble but this is not from the Reverse novel. My hypothesis is wrong. :o( It does have a Reverse feel but it isn’t.

    @Chaos2Frozen
Thanks for the info about Episode 18. This filler arc should be over next week but it will be followed by another 2 episode filler arc.

Well, to me, it could only be ‘him’, or her brother. But you’re right, its abit too early for her to like ‘him’ yet…

(and he will remain as ‘him’ until I can confrimation so as not to tick off the wrong people =P )

    @ Riki
Damn, wanted it to be the RNs… Perharps they took some parts of the novels? Maybe thats why you had a ‘Reverse feel’… And I also agree with you that they’re giving them more screen time to be considered ‘main’ characters…

(I have no idea why I suddenly became happy when I read your above spoiler…)

Please use spoiler tags. There might be people who don’t read the manga and every time someone reveals key info from the manga, it will ruin their experience.

18 ep: NOOO WAY! Lenalee is only for “him” as well as “he” is only for her. And “he” should stay as “he” for much much longer!!! What can it be then???
    And, Lenalee+”he” is absolute canon.

But for ep 18, we can judge the entire anime. Haw much they are willing to follow canons. But if there will be Lenalee+random_guy, I will stop watching

  16. i thought d.gray-man started out with more of a point, now it seems so random…

i wish there was more of a dynamic storyline other than just constant attacks from earl’s family members’ akuma henchmen…

    madhat
  17. @madhat

There is a main story, but once it starts, there’ll be little to no screen time for some of the main characters.

This few episodes the anime is showing now is to give more screen time for these characters, so that their fans won’t grumble…

Also, one more flaw I don’t like about the manga is that they didn’t show much innocences collecting, which is suppose to be one of the main jobs of the exocists… But glad the anime decided to set aside abit of time for it…

    So relax =) , enjoy the show 🙂 !
