Summary:

At the Organization headquarters, Rubel is explaining to the others how Clare has gone missing since her mission with Ophelia. They have found Ophelia’s Awakened body, but Clare’s body is missing and they think it unlikely that she defeated the Organization’s Number 4. Still, they decide that they have to find her, and they dispatch Galatea for the job. At that time, Clare is on the move looking for Raki, and her travels take her to a particular town where she stays for the night. The innkeeper informs her that there are a group of Claymores around, though luckily Clare has been taking Yoma energy suppressants to keep from being discovered by normal people and other Claymores. As these Claymores move through town, one of them briefly stares up at Clare’s room’s window, and Clare realizes that this must be the single-digit in the group. The following day, the innkeeper tells Clare that the Claymores left early in the morning, so Clare goes around asking the townspeople about Raki. She gets no leads until she finds the statue of twin goddesses Teresa and Clare, beside which is a pair of siblings talking about a guy who had been asking which of the two goddesses was Clare. The description fits Raki, and though he appears to have left town already. In fact, Raki is at the moment struggling his way through a wasteland environment, vowing to survive and be reunited with Clare.

Shortly thereafter, the bloodied and broken body of a Claymore stumbles into town asking for someone to contact the Organization. When Clare asks her if she was defeated by an Awakened Being, the Claymore realizes that Clare is one of her comrades and asks Clare to save the others who are still alive. After watching the Claymore die, Clare decides that she has to go help and takes off her disguise. Meanwhile, inside the ruins situated on a mountainside, a session of torture is taking place under the watch of a young girl. Her Awakened Being thug named Dauf is driving rods made from his body into the two captured Claymores in an effort to make them Awaken, and the Claymore named Katia soon starts transforming. Dauf powers up and changes forms too, eventually taking the first punch at the newly Awakened Katia. She strikes back at him, but can’t penetrate very far into his armor, so Dauf tells the young girl that Katia isn’t strong. With the young girl’s order to break her, Dauf smashes Katia to pieces with only one swing. The young girl then suggests that it has to be a single-digit after all and urges the remaining Claymore – the Organization’s Number 9, Jean – to Awaken. By now, Clare has reached the mountain and is confronted by a group of men she recognizes to be Yoma. Though Clare is still able to easily take care of all of them, she’s questions how these Yoma had tried to coordinate their attacks.

Dauf suddenly detects that someone coming, but the girl senses that it’s someone weak who won’t have a strong Awakening, so she decides to let Dauf do what he wants with her. That person is of course Clare, and she approaches the passageway to the ruins.

You’d think that the smart thing for Raki to do would just to stay put in one town, perhaps in hiding, until Clare showed up to get him. Instead, he stays on the move, and the distance between them is growing even larger now since Clare has gotten sidetracked here with the new threat. On a related note, I can’t help but wonder about Clare’s priorities. I’m not saying that she made the wrong choice to go try to save the other Claymores, but she has to realize that doing this is very unlikely to lead to getting her reunited with Raki and will probably make it harder instead. Still, I would say that Clare now has the chance to prove herself as strong or stronger than a single-digit, but with Galatea in the preview, it seems likely that she’ll have to share the spotlight.

  5. The anime is only supposed to be 26 episodes long so I’m wondering if they’re going to cut out the latter part of the manga and just make an original ending.

“truth to be told that clare isn’t very strong like what they said in the stroy, it’s just her body is a little different than normal Claymores’(she has Teresa in her instead of a actual yoma)which that made her seems strong but the truth is that she hardly awakens even when she passes her limit. ”

I think that because she has very strong willpower she doesn’t awake after she passes her limits, though Show Spoiler ▼

Also the reason why she is stronger now is probably because of Ilena’s arm. In the manga I think it was noted several times that Show Spoiler ▼

  11. If the manga dictates anything, then we’ll probably see the re-uniting of Clare & Raki near the end. Either the ending will be good or bad unless this weekly dose of awesomage goes for more than 26 episodes.

I, however, am still waiting for that joke to appear about Clare being Azumanga’s Kagura. (Oh wait! Houko Kuwashima has a large resume of characters she voiced!)

So yeah. Dump that crap School Days; it ain’t worth watching since the sex is removed.

  12. ^ I presume you meant the end of the series.
The series will most likely cover everything pre-timeskip, and leave the post-timeskip stuff to the next season.
Which will probably come after at least 5 years, looking at the speed of the manga D:

  14. My stance on Clare’s priorities is that Priscilla occupies much of her mind to set up her revenge. Finding Raki comes after she’s done with Priscilla, but it will take Clare a long while for that.

  15. @ Myh

Looks like they’re compressing the The Witch’s Maw Arc with the Purgatory of the Deepest Depths Arc. That would mean episode 16 and 17 would be an all out, drill-throwing,sword-slashing, gib-smacking 4-way slugfest… SWEEEET!! 😀

  16. odds are the northern war arc is going to take up the reast of the episodes, seriously what with everything that happens i can see it happening,

i just hope we get to see the fight between the abyssal ones north and south (cant remember names -_-)

and yeah the manga goes slow…I WANT MAWR!!!
