「光星より愛を込めて」 (Kousei yori Ai wo Komete)
“Includes Love From A Shining Star”

Episode at a Glance:
After failing to find Lala on Earth a few times, Pikary from the planet Kirara manages to crash land in the right place. While Pikary plans to take Lala home as his bride (which is something every alien in this show seems to want to do), she manages to thwart each of his attempts to do so. In the process, Pikary gets his rocket suit destroyed, but gets help from Ren, Zastin, and Mikado-sensei, a doctor secretly for aliens, later on to fix things up for him. When Pikary finally manages to capture Lala, Mikado-sensei intervenes by bandaging him up, after which everyone ships him back home in his spaceship.

Next Episode:
「宇宙の女芸人・・・・・・」 (Uchuu no Onna Geinin……)
“Universe’s Female Performer……”

Impressions:
Despite having Miki Shinichrou (Lockon Stratos in Gundam 00, Kisuke Urahara in Bleach, Kurz Weber in Full Metal Panic!) playing Pikary in a fairly amusing way, I actually found the episode itself somewhat dull. This may be due to the re-use of scenes to help iterate Pikary’s persistence, which caused the episode to lack any sort of natural flow. In addition, the ecchi-ness was pretty much non-existent and more importantly, so was Haruna. Because of this, everything felt a bit filler-ish, regardless of whether or not this is manga material. (I think it’s not, but I’m not against anime-only material provided that it’s done well.) It was nice to see some Ultraman and Boo (from Dragon Ball Z) parodies though.

Next week, it looks like we’ll see Haruna and Mikan again, which should spice things up again. Hopefully, the underlying love triangle theme comes to the surface again too, as that’s the biggest appeal of this series to me.

  1. Yeah already watched this one myself.(wow chihiro is really fast their sub came out yesterday) but i do agree i found myself bored halfway through the entire episode. Personally pikari really annoyed me. Hopefully they’ll end up doing something good with the ‘new doctor’ but they’ll probably just throw her in every once and awhile.

    Woot first post!

  3. I’ve also managed to find the manga somwere and i read several volumes. It’s true: the manga is one step up!!
Why the hell animated versions really suck in comparison with their mangas?? There are series that could shine animated, but they were turned into crap!! Alita and Berserk are the worst examples of this 🙁

  4. Of all the episodes, this one falls waaaayyyyy short, and what makes it worse is that its anime-original! I suppose this ep was mainly just to introduce the nurse, who so far in the manga is merely a side character. Why can’t they just put in Yami-chan already!!!

  6. Uhm what’s the point in making up new chars like this weakling here or changing situation like they did several times?
I read all 102 manga episodes and some events have been completely changed :/ Didn’t they already have plenty of stuff to animate?
