In the past, although Nnoitra was someone who showed no mercy, Nel was someone who did, and she didn’t want to fight him. When Nel questioned him about his desire to fight, Nnoitra had explained that he wanted to die in battle, and he wanted it to happen before his body collapsed. This is indeed what occurs in the present, and the victorious Zaraki had fun doing it. Zaraki then tries to get Ichigo to take Inoue and leave because Ichigo’s job is done, but unfortunately, Inoue gets kidnapped again, this time by the Espada named Stark. He brings her to Aizen, and Aizen who wants her to stay put while he, Tousen, and Ichimaru head out to destroy Karakura Town. Aizen communicates his plan to all of the Shinigami inside Hueco Mundo and informs them that he no longer has any use for Inoue. Kidnapping her was all part of a ploy to get Soul Society to strengthen its own defenses rather than that of the real world, and it also served to lure Ichigo and company plus four captains to Hueco Mundo where he could imprison them. As he says this last part, the four openings that the captains came through all close.

With three captains who defected and four imprisoned, Aizen considers Soul Society’s strength to be halved, and he steps towards the real world. Ichigo wants to try to do something, but Zaraki stops him and reveals that one of the orders given to Urahara was to make it so that all the captains could fight in Karakura Town. More specifically, this means that they’ve moved Karakura Town to Soul Society temporarily, put all the people to sleep, and replaced it with a deserted replica that can be destroyed in a fight. Yamamoto and the rest of the Gotei 13 are thus waiting for Aizen when he emerges, but he already knows what they’ve done and calls forth his top Espada Stark, Barragan, and Halibel. Aizen’s new plan is to annihilate the Gotei 13 here and then go to the real Karakura Town in Soul Society to create the royal key. He also leaves Las Noches in the care of Ulquiorra. Sensing that Ulquiorra is back, Ichigo tells Zaraki that his duty is to protect his friends, and he rushes off to where the Espada and Inoue are.

I always thought the whole we-magically-moved-Karakura-Town-to-Soul-Society was a rather flimsy part of the story, but there are few scenes as cool as the sudden show of force by Yamamoto and all those captains and vice-captains. If only they didn’t have to fight the three Espada and their lackeys first – I’d much rather see Yamamoto vs. Aizen or Komamura vs. Tousen or anyone vs. Ichimaru. The manga’s still nowhere near that point however (a testament to how long the battle is dragging out), so those match-ups are just speculation and hope on my part.

The fact that the people of Karakura Town have been moved though makes me wonder if that includes Ichigo’s father since I could see him potentially playing a role in this battle. Then again, he might not want to get involved unless Ichigo or his daughters were in direct danger. A group that’s much more likely to fight is Shinji and the Visoreds, and we’ll get to see why in the next big story arc. Unfortunately, that will have to wait a few weeks because first there are going to be a couple of anime original episodes, starting with next week with what looks to be more Rurichiyo/Kenryuu/Enryuu stuff.

  1. Why complain about upcoming fillers? Would you rather have it go straight to the current manga chapter and then stop dead in its tracks? With the way they do it, you at least get to watch SOME bleach episode every week. But to claim to want to shoot the people in charge of the show’s production? Seriously??

  2. Oh nooooooooooooooo. This episode was boring and the next ones will be fillers -.-
    I can’t stand this carp anylonger :((
But Azure is right, I won’t have any fillers during the next fights in Karuka Town

  3. I really don’t care about Bleach’s (non)plot at all. The only thing that’s good about it is the fight scenes. As for the fillers…ugh..atleast its only 2 episodes. Damn, & I just managed to forget about that brat too. Yay, I get to skip Bleach for two weeks, so what. I still haven’t watched that bound arc garb’ & I probably never will. I wished I never watched that brat’s arc but it’s too late for that. But Bleach has been on my list of ‘extra’ shows to tune into ever since the SS arc…I wonder why 🙁

  4. Hoply Bleach would have a solid material to work with after the Pendulum arc because this Aizen been the villian is dragging too much we need new villians with more background on them just like the bleach movies do. No one knows why Aizen is so strong like that. Bleach needs to get back to whatt it used to be, cuz i really enjoy watchin bleach and they need to stop wasting 5 to 6 minutes explaining what happened in a previous episode i believe just watching the episode is enough it really takes the fun out of watching bleach.

  5. Here is what I don’t understand…

All of the flashbacks to Nel as an adult show her to be a decent, caring, and honorable person. How the hell did she end up there and not in Heaven or Soul Society? Evil people go to hell or Heca Mundo (sp) and good people go to heaven or Soul Society is what I always thought.

  6. You got a point “splash” but keep in mind THIS IS BLEACH! this crap is swisscheese-urific! and has more inconsistency’s than a amputee with a touch of leprosy. but like most i like the fight scenes and little else… maybe cuz they’re evolved arrancar they really never had a say in the matter when aizen came through like the messiah.”he is a great liar”. or maybe there just dumb. @sirMuffin “failed comedy thingy”…..true DAT!!

    BROOKLYN otaku
  7. @Splash
cause nel didnt die thats the only explanation and as a good hollow?

she just get her good personality when she became an adjucas to arrancar but being a hollow their preevolve for makes here to be in heuco mundo

  8. I think the filler idea is brilliant, actually. Instead of having to come up with new characters, new material, they just stick with what has been done before. I was actually thinking of a Bout-related filler, since there was a Bount who was still alive, taken care of at the end of the Bount arc by Urahara and Yoruichi.

  9. @Splash
In the Bleach world, pluses (the souls of non-evil humans) can become hollows over time. So someone being a hollow doesn’t necessarily mean that they were evil when they were alive. As Nel said (more or less) to Nnoitora earlier, as hollow, they were like animals, but after becoming arrancar, they’re able to regain their humanity again.

  10. Ok, I just have to say it somewhere. This episode was a waste of animation. Everyone looks TERRIBLE. -_- Maybe they got new people to do this episode, just look at the difference in 202 and 203. I mean everyone’s face looks horrible, Orihime looked like some weird fetish lady. I was cringing when I saw Orihime’s nice pose with an ugly face. x.x; And no one looks the same in any frame. *sobs*

  11. i don’t get it in eps 202 neil looked like she wanted to save that crazy guy Nnoitra, and in 203 neil was supposed to fight kenpachi thats how the story should’ve been, yet in eps 203, you don’t even see neil ! i mean WTF…..

god please no more Lurichio story….i wanna jump of my window now ! fillers are so boring… bleach is full of inconsistency. i also agree we should hang those studio perriot story writers ! for real … 🙂

bleach was more interesting in bounto saga…. more action …

  12. The past 3 episodes were extremely dull. The fights between Kenpachi and Noitra should have been a highlight of the show. I swear Studio Perroit pulls out there D list animators. I felt like I kept seeing the same animation over and over. And its so drawn out. Also the fight between Szayel and Kurotsuchi also should of been A-list animators. I look back at the fights between Ichigo vs Kenpachi and Kurotsuchi vs Ishida and they are totally different anime styles and so much more dramatic and exciting.

Sorry for the Rant, but getting more and more dissapointed.

  13. @Katya

Yes. Aizen is surely aware of that, and probably thinks he and his minions are strong enough to handle it. And if (as everybody expects) he ends up killing Yamamoto, he’s probably right. IIRC it’s been said that Yama would’ve been the leader of the Zero Division, but he was considered irreplacable as the commander of the Gotei 13.
