It felt like a milestone of sorts, so I just want to stop and take a moment to thank all our readers for checking back regularly and making this site what it is today. Founded by Omni back in November 2004, Random Curiosity has grown tremendously over the years and now has over 4,140 posts, 173,000 comments, 60 million visits, and 120 million page views since its inception. Timely posts, regular updates, and fairly objective views make up the direction that took site to where it is now, but none of that would have mattered if you the readers didn’t keep coming back to hear what we have to say about the latest anime.

It wasn’t too long ago that Omni announced his retirement from blogging and I decided to pick things up where he left off under the new domain, randomc.net; however, our readership has grown significantly since then (~25%) so I’d like to thank all the new people who have either stumbled across the site or heard about it from a friend and made it one of their regular stops on the Internet. It might be a bit intimidating at first, but I encourage you all to join in on the discussions and share your own thoughts and impressions on anything and everything anime related. I promise I’ll do whatever is in my power to keep the trolls at bay. 🙂 It’s my hope that this will become a more inviting place for anime fans old and new, where anyone can easily relate to the impressions written here. If you have friends who are into anime but haven’t heard of the site, please do tell them, because just like you and all our other readers, we’re fans of anime first and foremost and just want to talk about it with people who have similar interests.

Once again, thank you all for reading and getting accustomed to things under my wing. Hopefully the changeover from dedicated summaries to more in-depth impressions wasn’t too alienating at first. I’ve enjoyed blogging a lot more ever since I started focusing on talking about anime and their plot lines rather than simply summing it up, so that’s a change in writing style that I’d like to continue improving on in an attempt to make episodic blogging a more interesting and worthwhile read. I’ll still have lots of high definition screen captures of course, for those who just can’t get enough of them. I probably won’t have another milestone post until 70 million visitors, but we may just see that before the end of the year at this rate — just in time for the site’s sixth anniversary.

  1. I prefer in-depth impressions more than dedicated summaries, something to relate with the readers and that’s one of the factors why I frequent after watching watching one of the shows that are being discussed here. If I wanted a summary I could just watch the ep lol.

    1. Not saying its not bad, but I’m one to watch anime to pick up little things. I agree with this. Besides. We all watched the episode. Now let’s talk about what was cool, etc…It helps keep the reader base, and it helps when the readers put out an idea somewhere that others pick up on and a whole new meaning is given to something the original poster missed or didn’t include but seemed vital enough.

      Keep up the good job.

  2. I find this one of the most useful sites out there for deciding whether to pick up a series or not after a season starts. Saves a lot of time over the “try 5 episodes and see how it goes” tactic (which I still use but much less).

    1. Agreed. I’ve found myself watching much more anime since I started following the site, just because it’s so easy now to get an informed impression of every series and know who’s animating it, who the voice actors are, what direction the series is taking, and how many people are into it. 🙂

I’ve gotten into a lot of new series also just by being intrigued by the art style and character designs I saw in screencaps here. Usually the only impression you get of the series is a short official summary and a reused header image, both of which really sell an anime short.

  3. Your site has actually become something of a necessity for me when it comes to following new seasons of anime. Seeing the screencaps, reading the impressions, reading the comments really makes everything more enjoyable. I always find myself recommending this place to my anime-viewing friends alongside any anime. 🙂

You’ve definitely got a great community going here too. Keep up the great work! 😀

  4. Wow 60 Million visitors? That’s a big number.Keep up the good work Divine, Prooof, Kiiragi and don’t forget Pedphile Jaalin.Hope he writes one more of his cracked up posts someday.

  5. Like most people said. I’ve been on this site, and it has been my main page eversince I stopped reading megatokyo. Been with the community for awhile, and frankly, its good.

  6. Congrats to Divine, all the previous bloggers this site has had, and RC as a whole. Divine, you’ve done a great job keeping the boat steady these past 6 months (hard to believe it’s been that long already :p) so it’s no wonder the readership has continued to rapidly increase these past few months. I also enjoy the impressions more than the summaries, as I like to read your opinions on the latest episodes rather than a summary of what I’ve already watched. I sincerely hope you continue to guide the site for the foreseeable future and continue to uphold it’s reputation as a model for all modern English anime blogs.

  7. *salute*

    Congrats!

I’ve been following this blog for a few years now, and it’s awesome.

I like the focus/discussions around the plot lines. It gives me extra food for thought, to see a slightly different perspective on the interpretation of words/actions and where the plot is heading.

  8. Thanks Divine for Random Curiosity. I barely discovered this blog about 5 or 6 months ago but have been sharing your screencaps with all my friends and enjoy reading everyone’s digestion of the episodes. I’ve only started commenting on Wednesday but I’ll try to do it more because I want to stick with this blog. Keep up the great work and I promise to continue reading. 😀

  9. WoW 60 million!!! I use this site mostly to see if im going to watch an anime or not like some of the people that come on here. I’ll have to make sure that i tell people about this site more. Your doing a really good job Divine

    Supreme_Hero
  10. This is wonderful, this site deserves every view it gets as it is the best anime blog on the web. And I will support it with everything I have and introduce even more of my friends to it.
Thanks for all of your hard work!

  11. I’m of big fan of your season previews, thats what first brought me here. Good to see it’s still going on even with Omni leaving, hopefully this can continue in the future.

Have you ever thought about adding some sort of forums to randomc? Just a thought.

    Aecen
  12. They have Pizza Hut in the afterlife? no wonder C.C. wants to die! Anyway, Congratz on the milestone-something.. You blog it and they will come! I like this site and also recommend it to others looking for good anime. The reviews ARE good! The community is also awesome! Keep it up! ^_^

  13. This site is tha BEST! Found this site over 2 years ago and loved it from the start ^^! I don’t think I have ever closed my browser since then without having checked Random Curiosity at least once lol! You’re doing a great job Divine and so is everyone else!

*stands and holds up glass* To Divine, Proof, and Kiiragi… May Random Curiosity keep being an Fn awesome place to read about and discuss anime, manga, and j-pop for as long as possible.

  14. Congratulations! That’s amazing news. I’m glad to see RC going forward under your watch. I personally was never one for reading Summaries (and I mostly followed Omni’s little comments at the end).

    Its well deserved success!

  15. May I say I’m glad I’m a part of this community and looking forward to being be in the future. Thank you Divine, Omni and co. for your efforts on this site and thank you everyone else for being such great people to talk with. Keep it up everyone!

  16. Congrats! I remember stumbling upon this site looking for a summary of the latest episode of Gundam SEED Destiny. Now I come hear often to figure out which anime I should watch next season, and to get screencaps for iconing. This place really has become one of my habitual internet stops. So I hope the blogging team keeps up with the good work for many anime seasons to come!

    kureejii
  17. Congratulations Divine! RC is certainly my favourite Anime Blogger site, not only for the posts+comments that make me pick up on things I would usually ignore, but the whole website design/layout. Its so neat and pretty in a non-fluffy/sparkley way…HQ screencaps help a lot too 🙂

I don’t even remember how I found your/Omni’s site, but even in my years of Anime hiatus-ing I still remembered the address for some reason…again I think the HQ screencaps helped.

Anyway keep up the good work, I’m happy for you Divine&Random Curiosity and Omni if he still happens to lurk around here.

  18. Congratulations, Random Curiosity, on your 60 million milestone! ^^

It’s awesome to see this site brimming with life every time i visit. Been coming to this site almost every day for over 3 years now, and not once have i been disappointed when visiting.

I don’t usually comment, but this is one of those exceptions.

Offtopic: KOTOKO – Agony kicks ass. Love her voice.

    Yakamaru
  19. Simply Amazing. Never thought this blog site had this many visitors. Since the comments were a small mass, i thought community was small. But this changed my mind. For a gift, lets post more!!! No trolls of course. Anyways Congrats!

    kookaa
  20. Congrats on the milestone! I’ve been coming on this site daily for a few years now. Were it not for this site there would be tons of awesome shows that I would have missed out on. Thank you for everything and keep up the great work.

    L-Banana
  21. Hell yeah! This’s Onmi’s legacy, so of course we’ll keep coming to read and share what we like about each and every series, OVA’s or movies all of you share with us.

    thanks.

  22. yey Random Curiosity For the Win!, the first time i stumbled upon this site i visit it everyday, thanks to this site im able to watch epic anime i never even heard off(Angel Beats!,Kaichou wa maid-sama, etc) im really grateful about this site and though its kinda sad that Omni had to retire from blogging but as long as this site is up im visiting it everyday to see the latest and whats good to watch, good job on making this site still up Divine and hopefully this site will be up for a long time

    SonicFreak
  23. glad to hear the site is doing good. congrats to you guys
don’t you reckon we need an anime veteran to blog some older animes to fill up the missing parts of when you guys started in 2004? i mean saikano, shingetsutan tsukihime, and such should be blogged so some viewers who hasn’t seen them can get the idea of how the anime was

    Koeix
  24. I discovered Omni’s Curiosity this site back in 2007 i believe but was in infrequent visitor but i have been visiting more and more each time. I like how you are still continuing with this. I visit Divine’s Curiosity almost daily. Continue the good work.

  25. I discovered this site when i was looking for info on Shakugan no Shana when it came out, and I kept coming back cause it was so informative. I am speechless with the 65 million viewers; I’m glad i can continue to imagine that people out there love anime!

    Karis
  26. One of the lurkers here.
Been lurking around Random Curiosity for about 4 or more years.

It was kind of sad to have Omni leave this site. But i believe he must be pursuing something important for himself in his life so that’s all good.=]

Random Curiosity’s a great place to talk about your favorite characters and having like minded people agreeing with your views of the different animations.(though i didn’t pose anything online but, i did find myself agreeing with certain random user on the views of their favourite female or their likes or dislikes of certain characters;etc)
*cough* i have to admit that i am guilty; finding it absolutely amusing to watch people rage online when certain characters in their prefered stories does something silly. =p

To PROOOF and KiIRAGI, all the best to you future posts. I’ll be looking forward to your growth as bloggers/ writers. =]

Question: Pardon me for maybe my lack of reading. Where is TRILLIAN; ARCADE; SIXTHDAWN; KENN1911; PATRIK (i think i did miss a whole lot more) i guessed they might have retired. Well, doesn’t matter. Thank you for making what Random Curiosity is today.

Oh, and to JAALIN, you’re not forgotten. Would love to read your retarded; sexually deviant; philosophical or even scathing posts in the future. Your posts are amusing to read.

And of course to DIVINE, thank you for continuing the site after OMNI left. Thank you for your past efforts and also to your future efforts as well.

    Ikuru
  27. Wow! 60 million mark in 6 years, that’s impressive and I know that things will just get better from here on out.

I first stumble upon Random Curiosity when I was searching for something new to watch and if I recall correctly, it was the Gundam 00 posts I started reading and decided to pick it up (and it was AWESOME!). I didn’t realize that I was already visiting randomc on a daily basis to check out what’s new and what shows I want to watch, and I don’t think I’ll stop coming here anytime soon.

Congratulations and keep up the good work. ^^

    Jaden
  28. Even as a long time lurker, I did not expect such a large number of visitors – I was sure RandomC was quite cult. I’m sure quite a few people appreciate RandomC since if it wasn’t for this site I would not have been so into anime. I remember a few years back I was only watching shounen crap like Gundam Seed but RandomC introduced me to a bunch of sexy loli tsundere crap and yeah I’d like to thank RandomC for turning me into a shit stain of humanity.

    sushlet
  29. Long live RandomC! And thanks to Divine, Kiiragi and Prooof. I’ll always waiting for Divine’s Giant Killing post, Kiiragi’s One Piece manga post and Prooof’s Nurarihyon no Mago post every week despite of me just being a lurker 🙂

  30. NO SHIT!?! FO REAL!?!?! 60 MILL??? WOW!!!! hey Divine, you and Omni should put out MEMBERSHIP CARDS like you you see in anime you know!?! HAHAHAHA if that were the case I’m sure my Otaku=ish Ass would be like #200 or something. KEEP IT UP PIMPING!!!

BTW- you really should start “if you aren’t already *wink* wink*” Ca$hing in on this juicy cow. DO YOU dig my nig!!

    BROOKLYN otaku
  31. You’re the bridge that links 60 million otherwise random people together worldwide… That’s freaking amazing and I am honoured to be one of those 60 million people. Please keep it up!

    SirMuffin
    1. As much as I’d like to believe those are unique visitors, that’s not the case. There’s a bit of a misnomer on what constitutes a visit/visitor to a website, so I can’t really say Random Curiosity’s reached out to an entire city of people worldwide. Still, there’s a good amount of people who check back regularly every day to help reach this milestone.

  32. The only thing I’d change about RC is the obsession with Angel Beats! around here
I’d rather see the K-ON! girls up at the top of the page:)

You’re one of my first stops daily and the anime reviews helps me get a broader picture of the series I’m following for the seasons

  33. Congratulations! I love this site and have shown it to all my buddies who love anime. It wasn’t for divine and this site I wouldn’t have gotten into alot of great series, thnx RandomC

    armando
  34. Congratulations on your 60m visitors achievement. And i hope that it will reach 1b in the future.

btw, if anyone spotted any copycat blogs, let all those readers/fans/etc know and redirect them here :p

    Omega
  35. Random Curiosity is practically my second home! Although I don’t comment as much as I’d want to, regularly visiting RC on a daily basis is something that I will subconsciously do every time I fire up my browser lol. Also, it’s a good distraction from my uni hw! =)

Thanks Omni and Divine for the hard work and dedication that you guys have put into this site. ^^

    lightning
  36. I think we should thank you for providing us anime(and some manga) reviews, songs and other stuff…

anyway congrats on reaching 60 million, its not too far for 70 million to happen sooner

    amado
  37. I just thought I’d leave a quick comment and let you know that I really like your impression/descriptions rather than summaries. Usually I don’t check here until after I’ve watched whatever, and it’s to see what your opinions are or if you noticed anything I missed :P. As a side note, this is the only anime blog I check ’cause I don’t really feel the need to look for any others xD

    Audiocrow
    1. I agree, this is by far the best anime blog out there, at least for me. When I saw the retirement notice I was SUPER bummed out and tried looking for a replacement to no avail. Epic fail. I’m so happy you decided to pick things up and keep RC running, Divine. So really, THANKS TO YOU!

      Naiika
      1. Yeah right?! As soon as I saw the new banner I knew something was up! I was flipping out about how cool it is. I’m about to make five more bookmarks to my iTouch Home Screen using it. I love making small bookmarks to this place and sharing knowledge of it with others. There’s really no other blog like this one. So welcoming! I’ve never felt intimidated or “left out” from the community. 😀 Not once!

  38. I have been following this site since Omni started, and his early days on animesuki bleach forums. This has always been my number 1 site for anime, the tab is always up so i can do a simple refresh when needed. I thank you Divine for keeping this great site going and to all the other bloggers new and old for contributing. Keep up the great work.

    Giostz
  39. I’ve been around since 2008ish, i really love this site not only for the comprehensive anime reviews for each episode but especially for the well written and extremely informative “winter, spring, summer, fall previews for anime” the screencaps are also nicely put in the blog and this is easily my favorite site just to see how some current anime are doing.

Congrats to 60 million, hopefully 70 can be reached by the end of the year!

    Precise Moment
  40. I’ve been coming here for about 2yrs now. I liked how omine wrote his reviews, but I like it when you put your own thoughts in your writing. No matter if I agree or not. So keeping on keeping on so im not bored after work.LoL

    infinite
  41. Not sure how long I’ve been visiting here, but reading on info for episodes get me into other anime too! Which is nice, since I’m not the most up to date with anime all the time! Nice place to get some background and decide to follow new series or not!

Keep it up, an awesome source for those who love anime 🙂

    Ryoko
  42. Wow, congratulations Divine.

Though wonder if you’re still considering recruiting more writers? At the rate you’re churning out new blogs for almost every series, I fear you might get burned out too quickly. We should count ourselves lucky that Omni lasted for so many years before calling it a day.

I like the style Divine has given us, no offense to Omni, though I do think his summaries can sometimes be too redundant for those who have seen the episode. And for those who argue that they’ve yet to see the episode, I ask of them, why have they not watched it yet before reading the blog review on the said episode?

Maybe it’s me, but it seems there are less of them “series haters” in the comments sections than during Omni’s days. I still remember the days when K-On threads would be filled by those “moe-hating holier-than-thou” types. Now it’s so much more peaceful. Perhaps they couldn’t be bother to update their bookmark when RC moved server? Still, I expect the flame wars to return once a new Gundam series start around the corner.

    Kinny Riddle
    1. BTW, cool new K-ON poster image for RC.

Though I much prefer their schoolgirl costumes in the 2nd K-ON ED, it makes them look like real life schoolgirl rock band SCANDAL.

      Kinny Riddle
  43. Your great reputation is built up by your non-ending passion towards anime-blogging. Personally I really love what you blog as they provide a very good preview to how good or bad the series are (but disappointingly nowadays there are too many anime focusing on fan-service). I’ll like to say thank you so much and keep the good work up!

    Ryuuya
  44. Been visiting this site for 2 years now. The first thing I do when I start my pc up is checking this site :c Huge fan of it and a BIG Thumbs up for those who put their free time into updating the site with great blogging. Huge respect and a big thanks !

    Wlaas
  45. To be honest I prefer dedicated summaries. Not that your writing is bad. It is just that the summaries that first makes me coming to this site. I use this site at first to follow series that I don’t watch (I have none to limited access to downloads at that time). Now, I use it to check some series/episodes content before deciding whether downloading & watching it is worth the time and to satisfy curiosity while waiting between releases. And sometimes, even after the episode itself, I still like to read Omni summaries anyway. That’s my answer to those ask why I don’t watch it myself before reading the review.

Still,I appreciate what you has and will done. I come less often to this site nowadays (and never comment much) but that’s not because I dislike your writings. I must say, under your wings, there’s has been a lot more variety to this site. So keep up the good work 🙂

    salbazier
  46. It’s thanks to you D, Prooof and Kiiragi (I probably mispelled) that RC is ongoing and evolved into what it is today. A damn fine blog and the best for anime. Kudos to all the regular readers/posters too. You guys make it fun to come back and post.
    Long live RC!

    Shinjiro
  47. I, myself, prefer reading opinions and the new style instead of summaries. No point of summaries really. I like to compare what others think with my own opinion. Great site. One of the few sites on my bookmarks.

    Botasky
  48. I have been reading at this site for about 2 years now and it is one of my favorite sites to go to. I have been a little shy though in terms of posting and actually making an account, but no more! I made my account n I am gonna be involved more. Thanks for all the hard work and keep it up!

    Yosei
  49. im a huge fan of RC. i read and see it at school. makes me feel at ease that the anime turn out just right. congratz to Omni , Divine and others members their. RC the best anime blog of all time.

  50. Sorry I’m late XD

It has always been an honor to be a regular on Random Curiosity : ) Reaching over 60 MILLION views as well as making a large amount of posts is a major feat indeed. Anyone have any cake or pie to celebrate this occasion? XD

Once again, thanks to both OMNI for creating this awesome blog as well as Divine for keeping this alive and well : ) You guys rock and keep up the good work! =D

Take it easy and don’t over work yourselves

  51. Ahh I can’t remember when I first stumbled upon this place or even what I was searching in order to find it. But I’m sure glad I did because there’s nothing like Random Curiosity. Im a little ashamed to say it but I have sought out other blogs to dive into. Mostly due to the devastation caused from Omni decision. Unfortunately, I found nothing. None of the affiliated sites are as involved. There’s always something to dislike. Whether it be the webpage design, writers, commenters, or content.. There’s always something. I think you, Divine, Omni, and what’s his name.. The perverted one…. JAALIN!! lol You guys and the rest of the staff have set standards. I’ve never seen anyone as dedicated as y’all. Maybe that’s what draws people in? All that hard work’s gonna catch peoples’ eyes. 🙂

I am so saving this page. It’s special for some reason now. I can definitely show it to people who seem to like anime but don’t know where to find out more about it or would like to find people to talk to about the shows they watch.

Ahh.. All I can say is “Thank YOU!”

P.s. (if you guys ever need a donation or something, I’d be glad to help with what little I’ve got.) 😀

  52. Whoa 60 million, hope this keeps up for the years to come. Without you 60 million poor souls would be dazed and confused with no idea what is what in the anime world…No pressure 😉

  53. Random Curiosity is hands down the best Anime Blog I have ever had the privilege of being a part of. Omni did a tremendous job during his reign, but this site would not be Random Curiosity at present time with out Divine. We all enjoy your in depth impressions and opinions on Anime’s and encourage it.
So thank you for all the work and dedication you’ve put for this blog. I hope to see more of your work, and see more integration with your readers. Many of us feel that we want to be closer to this community by logins and such. All the same, Thanks Divine.

    MrBrownSound
  54. We should be thanking you not the other way around, Divine. 🙂
If you get a chance let Omni know that we are grateful for what he has done, and of course thank YOU Divine for what you ARE doing. Also you have my thanks Kiiragi, Prooof, and everyone else that is helping out in RC.

    Peace be upon you

  55. Yup I’m absolutely late. Custom computer have a lot of risk with them, especially at a school dorm lol (It flipped a circuit breaker… so =.= yeah lol). Keep up the good work good sir!

  56. Congrats on such a great milestone. RC was and will remain the best of aniblogs out there. Also, I said it before and I will say it again; Divine is an Oni to keep up with so many shows and such regular reviews! ^^ A great resource to always look up to. Three cheers and hopefully 70mil by the year-end. XD
