Once again it’s that time of year for people who love all things anime to come together and totally go crazy. What am I talking about? Why, I’d be referring to the largest anime convention inside of the US — Anime-Expo! After an intense battle and shelling out the money for some emergency preparations, I’m proud to say that I will be attending this year’s expo. I remember Divine talking about never having a real life meet up, but I think it’d be fairly interesting to see just how many people from RandomC are lurking around here. Imagine how cool it’d be if people actually said “Hi!” to me just because I write for this site? (:

Currently, I’m planning on attending as many Live Panels as possible. For those of you who frequent IRC, I posted up the signatures I got from the seiyuus who attended last year (Horie Yui’s signature!). Something about getting to actually see and meet the people who voice our beloved characters gets me really excited. That and how many people can say that they have one of their favorite seiyuu’s signatures? But besides that, I hope I can find some nifty stuff after sifting through the huge vendors hall.

I hope that I get to meet some of you readers if you can find me and I’ll have a post with a ton of pictures after the convention is over. FYI, if you see someone making a mad dash from one end of the convention center to the other (while being nimble and flipping over things) it just might be me (;

P.S. I’ll have a backpack with a Haruhi Danchou arm band on the front. It’s covering a hole but it seems fitting for the occasion.

Update [07-01-11]
I made a twitter just so I could update you guys and possibly find you. I’m pretty bad with it but if you click here you can get to it. (:

  1. My friend who happened to pass by the convention center today saw this huge line in front of it… She doesn’t know what the line is for though… I mean, check in today starts at 3pm, and they are already there waiting in line??? Likely or unlikely? I’m gonna go check in tonight around 5pm… I hope the line isn’t long…

    1. People were coming in earlier than that to ensure a good place in the line actually. Some friends of mine were there from 11am and didn’t get their badges until around 3pm. I, myself was waiting from around 2 to 5 until our part of the line even started moving. DX

  7. So Takaii, you’re finally going to settle the wild and rampant speculation of your gender once and for all eh? Though, I’ve had my suspicions for a while…haha

    1. Good God 6 hours. You know, yesterday I had an impulse to go fly out from Waterloo today so I could have the Sat, Sun and Mon there but then I decided against it because of how last minute it was. I wonder if I did go how crazy the line would be tomorrow morning though :S.

  8. I’ll be there. I haven’t picked up tickets yet though, I can only imagine how bad it’ll be tomorrow. Hope to see you!
P.S. If you got extra Hatsune tickets, I’ll do favors for you that are not appropriate for this website.

  10. I was wondering if anyone from RandomC would be there ha and to my great luck, behold. I would leave to meet 2 of the writers from RandomC and especially the great Divine. (I expect to see some godly aura around him :P) ha. Hope to see you guys there or at least pass by you without knowing.

Also, it’ll be my first time attending. So I have no idea what to expect. It’s very exciting.

  11. I just bought my ticket/badge a few hours ago! 😀 so excited! (I really hope I don’t have to stand in line for too long for the badge.)
I should also probably sleep, so that I’ll have enough energy today (but I’m too excited!) 😛

  12. Damn, I feel so sad and angry now. I really wish I could attend but sadly I live in Europe (and in one of poorest countries on top of that) so meeting seiyuu remains as a dream… Sigh…

    1. I ended up at the final Maid Cafe since our original appointment (Saturday at Noon) was cancelled to a certain bomb threat.

We played the most epic game of Jenga in the history of the game. Our tower ended up a good 23 rows up, I think (basically, there were no more available blocks without the tower starting to spin and sway back and forth). And we got stopped because the maids had to do more dancing even though one of our guys had a turn. I don’t know if we’d have won or not, but the tower survived all the maid dances. Unfortunately, it got torn down by one of the hosts who decided to try and pull out one of the bottom blocks. 🙁

Overall it was a great experience. Too bad not all our party was able to make it. Our original appointment was the only one we could all attend, especially since one of our members was Special Guest Fred Gallagher (writer of Megatokyo) and he couldn’t make the Sunday appointment. Two of our other companions also had to leave, as their flights home were Sunday afternoon.

Again, I wish I knew who left the “suspicious object” so I could stab them in the face.

But I have to thank Yuki, our maid. She made the experience phenomenal. If I go again next year, I definitely will go to the Maid Cafe again.

      1. that “bomb threat” was really frustrating for us too.. we kept getting escorted to so many different rooms, and eventually, outside.. and we actually sold out all of our shows, which was surprising because this is the first year AX had their own maid cafe instead of hiring a third party maid cafe! ^^ I’m glad you had fun despite the cancelled show… although I do feel guilty for that cancelled show >< it was heartbreaking to see all of our disappointed guests.. Oh, and Yuki is one of my really good friends ^^ and an awesome maid and dancer~ and I actually recall watching your table's intense Jenga game! (I sat at one of the tables next to yours).

  13. After walking up and down the halls of the expo for 4 days, I have officially managed to take…

… pictures of cosplayers, crowds and other things. I shall sort through them and the very best shall make it to my Deviant portfolio. Heaven knows I need to start using that sooner or later.
