「全員補習の生徒会室」 (Zenin Hoshuu no Seito Kaisihtsu)
“The Student Council of Remedial Students”

In spite of everything negative I’ve said about this show, I’m beginning to really, really like it. I don’t know why I get so much pleasure from watching Gekkou get his ass handed to him, but it’s a nice change of pace to watch our ace finally have someone stronger than him actually on his side. Like I said last week, I had a good feeling that Yuuichi wasn’t going to be a bad guy and I was happily surprised to watch him take the role of whipping our protagonists into shape.

In other words, it’s just a blast watching Yuuichi bestowing his form of “teaching” upon Gekkou and Taito. From using Taito as a pin cushion and stepping all over Gekkou’s pride, it’s pretty impressive how he uses nothing except some chalk and his fists (or foot) to nullify any attack thrown at him. Combined with his overall happy personality, it’s nice to see someone who’s terribly overpowered but doesn’t go off the deep end with it — unless he’s dealing with Gekkou, in such case it brings me so much joy to watch him walk all over him.

At the same time, I never caught on to the fact that Taito is supposed to be playing the role of a Minister Magi. When Yuuichi revealed Taito’s role while playing with Himea, all I could think about is what a great combination the two would make. Now if I didn’t notice this as a viewer, I really doubt Taito has caught on. His vows to protect Himea are noble, but how ironic would it be if he tried to prevent Himea from participating in battles when his role is to allow her to fight?

In the end, I was content that this beach episode wasn’t exploited just for tons of fanservice. By fleshing out the new characters and hopefully pushing the story toward the point where Taito becomes somewhat useful, this was probably the most efficient beach episode this season. Now, where’s that familiar Taito tamed last episode?!

  1. The only delight I got out from this episode was Haruka catching Saitohime and Taito together red-handed…and Taito giving the excuse that they ‘were training’. Rrrrrrright….

Izumi seems really redundant at this point and it doesn’t look like she’ll be of any use in the near future. Its like they’re putting her as a comical relief character…as if Taito the punching bag wasn’t enough.

  2. bet haruka was brought in for the food though yuuichi probably knows her true identity somewhat. gotta love how he also trashes them using chalk(an original weapon, rarely comes along).

also, I wish they kept mirai’s tsundere personality from the manga. it made her more interesting and funny than just being a genki loli here.

  3. That new taecher says that he is human but sure doesn´t look that way. I find that guy scary, specialy that smile that makes look like a serial killer playing with his pray. Also, is what he says it´s true Taito might be able to kill off Hinata once for or stand a chance aginst the Tenma; of course he has to survive to this lunatic first.
