「僕と恋路と交渉術っ!」 (Boku to Koiji to Kousyoujutsuu!)
“Me, Romance, and Democracy!”

Akihisa, you are the biggest moron in the world. In terms of KY, or understanding how to read the situation, you score below zero points. Seriously, how dense do you have to be to miss the intense amounts of love being shot in your direction?

Instead of getting to watch Minami get the idiot to herself, I was really disappointed from a personal standpoint with how things turned out this week. While I was impressed that he managed to confess to Minami that he had made a huge mistake that led to a horrible misunderstanding, I couldn’t bare it when he missed the point of the real conversation between Minami and Himeji. Especially when they were had it right in front of his face!

The fact that they had a professional looking script to follow yet started going off toward a topic that sounded like a lover’s quarrel should have been a clear flag that acting had long been thrown out the window. Listening to two close friends talk about the person they both love while watching their friendship slowly erode was tough. But when Akihisa clearly misread the entire situation and failed to pick the girl he truly wanted to be with, I literally face-palmed myself.

As unbiased as I want to be, I’m really sad that Minami’s relationship with Akihisa was so short lived. Even though rushing into things probably wasn’t the best idea, I can’t fault her for going for it when push came to shove. I also feel a bit of remose for Himeji as well — she behaved quite maturely the entire time and still didn’t she get a straight answer!

Amongst all the rage, there were still some really great moments throughout the episode. Besides the usual jokes at Akihisa’s expense, it was a real treat to hear Kato Emiri’s cute voice flow out of Hideyoshi’s mouth. More importantly there is still another big problem at hand – the upcoming battles between Class F and Class D and B. If there was any redeeming factors left, it would be the ESBs (Exam Summoning Battles). Something I hope the second half of this sequel will hopefully focus on.

P.S. I still love this show. <3

  1. Interesting development there though not what I expected it still going somewhere. Though I completely agree with you Takaii that Akihisa is an absolute moron! how can he be so dense?! those two girls are throwing everything at hit aside from screaming it to his face and he still cant get a hint at least.

  2. I’m disappointed with the outcome of this episode. I really was rooting for a Aki x Minami couple here >.> Ever since season 1 it felt natural and given last week’s episode, it seemed all the more likely.

I wonder how Aki went from being the first person to ask her to be friends with him to being so socially awkward with her. The top point of the episode had to be the FFF Trial and Hideyoshi’s gorgeous voice acting. Let’s hope Minami won’t give up on Aki.

    1. well aki really does want to be friends with her, it’s just that from that initial showing of kindness minami developed a crush while aki merely wants to be friends. their current status is built on the past year of pain minami gives him due to his unintentional insulting remarks. he’s so conditioned to minami physically hurting him that he’s not used to her being nice to him, therefore he believes that whenever she is being nice, it’s merely a ruse so she can kill him.

  3. oh dear from your post it seems if someone is looking for romantic comedy this is a bad choice, cause it causes extreme rage in the romance department. Dense guys can really do cause widespread raging

    1. I felt the same way too, It seemed the mix of the seriousness and idiocy(comedy) of the situations didn’t mix right for me. It was tough to handle, I was literally facepalming the whole episode. while I was rooting for Minami, seeing it that way, I don’t know what direction the show would go to.

  4. What did you expect? From the get-go, you’ve known that Aki was a dense idiot that needs everything spelled out to him. If this was about any other show, where the main male char had at least some intelligence about these situations, that’d be one thing, but we’ve known from the beginning he is dense.

Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Please die. women grovel at your feet and we’re limited to only 1 to 2 girlfriends. Go die and take your idiocy with you.

  7. Geez, after weeks of pleading and hoping that they won’t just dismiss the confession as some sort of joke. This happen. I do know that they can’t really fix a couple permanent but can’t they at least make it interesting or with more emotion. Rather than just put everything aside with a joke.

  8. How a big moron can Akihisa be!? Seriously a monkey understands more about girls feeling’s than he does. Finally Minami had the courage to confess and even kiss him, and he thinks that’s just a act. After this episode I just want to punch him as hard as Himeji and Minami does.

      1. haha cooking is the only thing he’s actually good at. while himeji’s cooking should be reserved for those that go to special hell (i.e. child molesters and people who talk in the theater)

  10. man, akihisa went from amusing to annoying really fast this season. i liked it at first but now his idiot status has just been overplayed. if i havent invested so much time into the series already, i probably would have dropped it by now :/

  11. oh god people, seriously. stop being so hard on the poor guy. The audience had the context clues as to the two girls liked him where as Akihisa always saw those 2 as friends and he believes Himeji likes Yuuji instead.

If I didn’t have the view of the audience, I would probably be standing in his shoes as well. In fact, I thought he dealt with it much better than any other male roles I’ve ever seen. Quite frankly, it’s impossible for him to know that those 2 likes him with unless he is either the audience or he isn’t an idiot, or even both.

    1. fact is, I was actually impressed when he picked up on how Himeji’s act was awfully realistic. His only mistake was it wasn’t acting at the point, a mistake anyone could make in an act. Like I said, he’s an idiot. It’s hard for a non-idiot to tell already, how do you expect an idiot to know?

    1. Been begging and pleading for weeks so that won’t be a reset button. But noooooo they have to do it, and so easily too. I would like it better if they put some story in between like maybe Minami crying or that Akihisa really consider is she impossible partner etc

  12. The thing is, the girls are at fault as they had some tag team monopoly on aki. He did something wrong or lewd, they both would work together and punish him. They both acted like his lovers together. Watch the film’ Rita, Sue and Bob’.

    ark noir
    1. I agree. As these girls want to attract Akihisa, if they punish him for anything. Himeji not prove their food and poisons. Minami, the worst, it breaks the spine and bones, and forces him to swear or do things to your liking, just scares him. No one falls in love with someone because someone wants, you confess your feelings and if he loves you, happy ending, if not, nothing can be done, and follow with your life. You try to please and love, but nothing can be forced, you have to live with it and accept it

  13. Minami’s fans are in rage =))

The outcome of this ep was expected. The one Aki love is Himeji and Minami have no chance to pair with him so I know the misunderstanding won’t last long and I was right 😀

I feel sorry for Minami to be rejected like that but… well… love did not choose your side in this battle /o/

  14. All who see the show they know very well. Aki likes to Himeji. Aki just wants to be friend to Minami. No matter how they show it in every episode, basically these are the constants. Aki looks like a striker to Minami. If no one confesses Himeji, Aki no cease to believe that she likes Yuuji, and also she should stop being fat and provide their food before killing Aki. Aki is an idiot, but they are not left behind by much, these attitudes lead to nothing.

    Shadow74
  15. Aki is hardly at fault here. He in fact straight up asks Minami if she actually likes him and he blurbs out an excuse to cover it up, how the hell was he supposed to figure it was a lie when he asks a direct question and gets an answer? As for Himeji, Aki believes his is only a one sided crush since he still thinks she has a crush on Yuuji; and she hasn’t done anything to convince him otherwise.

  16. geez, people here are quite hard on aki. ive seen worse dense guys particularly ichika. in fact, this guy managed to do quite well in clearing up the mess. im a shipper yes, but it was pretty obvious that it would not be resolved that easily.

  17. For me it was kind of a nice change to see the more serious side of Baka Test, I kinda wish they left out some of the comedy since it seemed a bit more forced this episode. Seeing the reasoning the others gave, I won’t be too mad at Aki. Was disappointed in Minami going back on her feelings for Aki, the idiot actually realizes that she may like him but she still denies it all.

I’m still waiting on Himeji to put herself out there…more, like how Minami did, without going back on it.

Hideyoshi and Shouko. ♥ That reminds me, I hope there’s ShoukoxYuuji focal ep sometime this season too. 5 seconds on screen is not enough.

  18. This is even worse than simply ignoring the fact, or taking it off in some sort of understanding happening where we could be like “Oh that idiot lol” No, this seriously irritated me knowing he let them both down, Even worse, I feel bad for Minami. Not only did he not understand her feelings even though it was unmistakably obvious, but he discerned the whole text, and made her feel like she wasn’t anything compared to Mizuki.
And even when it was hurting Mizuki’s feelings to watch them after even that, he still managed to keep them both in the dark about his feelings when it was time to bring truth to light. I think he’s doing this on purpose, some guys never learn(Sakura Diaries).

  19. For a moment, I thought this anime will venture a territory that is quite a rarity in a kind of setup the series offers, my first impression is OMG! Seriously they are actually going to do it only later to find out it ended up to another misunderstanding. I can’t fault anyone of the characters though, its just how it works, at least for a moment I thought this series are actually trying to be serious.

This episode is the second best episode after ep.8.

  20. What a surprise this show has been. Its almost as if the silliness of first season and a half was just there to set us up for an emotionally charged finish, somewhat akin to Toradora.

Maybe its because I’m an over 30 anime fan, but I’ve found the video game like summon battles to be blase and exhausting. Although Silver Link does a great animation job and makes the fights more fun than they by all rights should be, the whole concept is just a little too “Pokemon” for me. What makes this show good is the romantic comedy/ecchi element, which is why the show feels as if its lost its way during the battle heavy episodes.

I’ll be upfront by saying that I didn’t think much of this show early on (first few episodes were battle heavy, overly silly), but it’s gotten steadily better, and has even become one of those rare shows that I actually feel excited about as I’m watching it. The kiss in episode 7 really caught me off guard, and the episode which followed have only continued to surprise me. Who would have ever thought that an anime in which students fight each other for asinine reasons with silly leveled up avatars would go on to be emotionally hard hitting later?
