「愛はこんなにグローバル」 (Ai wa Konna ni Gurōbaru)
“Love is So Global”

Poking fun at Jun’s situation will never cease to be funny. He’s just a cool and caring guy who can’t get the girl that he likes to figure out that he is desperately in love with her. At least he didn’t get his hopes up only to have them crushed by reality this time around. He thoroughly anticipated everything that was thrown at him. While he must have been very happy that Yachiyo has his number, she’s going to be blowing up his phone for all the wrong reasons.

But still…I can’t help but wonder what might might have happened if he jokingly said she was his girlfriend while at the cell phone shop. Maybe he could have improved his situation by doing that instead of looking like he resigned himself to the friend-zone.

I have to say I really liked how they shifted to Jun and Yachiyo for the majority of the episode which pulled the focus away from Souta and Inami. With episodes 6, 7, and 8 focusing on some part of their relationship, it was refreshing to see them almost relegated to side characters. If this had been one of the few episodes I had watched of WORKING!!, it wouldn’t have been clear to me who the main character(s) or couple was. If they had even totally excluded Souta and Inami from the episode it would have still worked wonderfully. Unfortunately for me, they’re probably going to give the focus back to them next episode (judging from the preview). Sorry for having a short attention span but even though we haven’t completed 2 seasons yet, I’m already tired of them. I don’t think it helps knowing that their relationship will most likely never get any sort of closure. I liken focusing on them to going sideways instead of actually moving forward with the plot (plot? blasphemy!) like the latter half of the previous episode did. There’s plenty of other things to focus on within their world.

  1. Given that Souta and Inami were “introduced” to one another at the end of ep.1 season 1 in a rather flashy manner, I can see why their relationship is a much more prominent focus in Working!! To me, Jun and Yachiyo’s relationship just adds to the fun web of quirky relationships in the show.

Anyway, must say, another enjoyable episode of Working!!

  2. @ unlisted: I would have to disagree with your prediction for next week…

…as this show somehow trolls like how Souma is able to get everyone’s childhood pics for blackmail purposes this episode.

Still, this episode feels like the continuation of the “laugh riots” we’re getting in the past few episodes…

o ya: I actually saw this full length image the moment I saw that part of the episode, but surprised that you didn’t do one of that

  3. Indeed Divine, I too am starting to tire of the focus being on Takanashi and Inami all the time. So it was certainly refreshing to see Satou and Yachiyo have the spotlight this week, it also doesn’t hurt to have Kozue, Youhei and Mitsuki and Aoi occasionally trying to seek attention. Especially Aoi, the more she does so, the cuter she gets.

Who would’ve thought Yachiyo would be so enamoured over Kyouko that she ended up not having any friends her age?

Besides Kyouko’s minions Youhei and Mitsuki (who seems to develop an overprotective big-sister complex over Yachiyo), Satou should be honoured to be Yachiyo’s “friend #1”, and then try to take extremely baby steps from there. lol

  4. damn you can! you can do full-length screens man. I tried but kinda failed with the first full-length. great unlisted, you just carry on with those, I appreciate the effort man!

episode is funny as ever, and next week… it’s takanashi x inami again? well the season isn’t long, so if they are together make it quick…

  5. I think Takanashi x Inami got 10x interesting when Takanashi realised Inami is not a dog. To me, it seems like their ever-getting-closer-and-closer-but-at-speed-of-a-snail relationship never gets old.

  6. This was probably my favorite episode of both seasons. Yachiyo and Satou are probably ten thousand times more interesting to me than Inami and Souta.
It’s obvious Yachiyo and Satou probably won’t get much more time together considering the amount of episodes we have left and the fact that they’re probably going to focus on Souta.
I know this kind of series really isn’t centered around romance, let alone Yachiyo and Satou’s, but I can never help hoping that they will somehow get together seriously.

  7. Awesome review of a really cool episode. Quick typo revision:

    1. In paragraph 2: “But still…I can’t help but wonder what *might might* have happened” (might is repeated).

Just saw it and thought I’d mention it. >_< Much respect!

  8. I wonder how much more they can get out of Kozue’s interest in Yohei…. I actually enjoyed the bickering between Kozue and Mitsuki though. And as much as I hate Aoi, she got the best lines this episode that had me cracking up
