「三日月シルエット」 (Mikazuki Siruetto)
“Crescent Moon Silhouette”

I’m still a little confused over what I just watched. On one hand, I’m pretty confident that most of the episode focused on Yukki’s little crush on Kayo and the curls in her hair. But with the way he was blatantly voicing his opinion against it at the same time; it leads me to believe that I may have been looking at the episode from the completely wrong point of view. But at this point, I could care less. When dealing with Yukki, I’ve come to expect him to act out in some sort of mischievous or bratty way. However, instead of watching him end up in his same routine, it was refreshing to see him get thrown for a little loop.

The whole idea of collecting stickers for a simple convenience store prize sounds exactly like something Yukki would do. Throw in his belligerent attempt to get all of his friends to pitch in for extra stickers, and it sounds like just another run of the mill episode — except for a little twist named Kayo. It’s hard to tell what Yukki’s thinking since he rarely allows his emotions to flow out, but those subtle glances and the constant compliment about Kayo’s curly hair led me to believe he might be infatuated with her.

Judging from the precedence the past few episodes have set, I can’t help but feel that next week will also focus on the relationship aspect of things. Throw in the caps of a Middle School Kaname and an episode title called “Middle School Diary” and I’m praying that Hisako and Shizuna get the chance to finally have a proper introduction!

  1. Yukki is definitely infatuated with Kayo, but I think the thing is that HE doesn’t know that he is. It seems like he’s confused about his feelings, and he’s already not very open about them with his friends. Giving them the benefit of knowing will only lead them to have some extreme reaction that he doesn’t want to deal with. Besides, I don’t think Yukki has ever really been infatuated with a girl before, he’s so disconnected from his surroundings. Now that he’s faced with that problem, he’s not really sure what he’s feeling at all.
This was a great arc in the manga, so I’m hoping they conclude it in the last episode instead of leaving it for the continuation.

Oh, and next episode is actually about Shun’s little brother, not Kaname (but they sure do look alike, don’t they!) It should be a really good episode, so I’m definitely looking forward to it! That was one of my favorite chapters 🙂

  3. I wasn’t too sure about kayo’s character at first but after finishing the episode I like her 😀

But with the story focusing a lot of romance kinda makes me think its shoujo except in this case, we have boys as main characters instead of a girl XD

  4. Yukki needs to make more facial expressions. I love it when Kayo asks “are you falling asleep?” Because he is indeed in a state of stupor and semi-comatose almost all the time. I feel that he’s one of those who would get an F on every current events exam or report… he just doesn’t care.

  5. Damnit this show is so gooooooood.
Like staticology, I think too that Yukki doesn’t want to think that he’s starting to like Kayo. Actually I felt when watching that he doesn’t even want to think about it as it’ll be too much of a hassle for him. Also it seems like the sticker he had to roll in back with his finger reminded him of her hair again, that’s a pretty awesome metaphor if so.
The only thing worrying me is I feel like she’ll already have a boyfriend or something, I just got a hunch that it won’t work out… (Please don’t spoil and don’t tell me whether I’m right or wrong thanks.)
I wanna see more of Hisako next week too.
