First off, I would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who took the time to apply and expressed their interest in helping keep Random Curiosity running like it’s always been. The outpouring of support has been great and I really wish I had the time to thank each and every one of you individually.

Given the number of promising candidates, I actually increased my initial plan of 3-4 new writers to seven and have already contacted them. If you weren’t contacted, please don’t feel slighted in any way. There were so many great people to choose from that I could’ve easily brought on 10-15 new writers. I guess that’s to be expected of the best readership that I’ve had the pleasure of writing for over the years, but I had to draw the line somewhere and not make this sudden influx of new writers too overwhelming for longtime readers.

You can probably expect introductory posts to trickle out over the course of the week, as well as first posts by at least a couple of the new writers who will be finishing coverage of some of my remaining shows. I hope you’ll extend a warm welcome to them like you did for me when I first came on board.

    1. Oh btw. We already had female writer before (source; Divine). Ask around in IRC to find out who it was if people are really interested… (And then reread her posts in a different light, LOL)

      1. Typing fast enough to cut off circulation to your fingers? Thinking hard enough to deplete oxygen supply to the brain? What manner of warfare is this?!

        -ahem-

With this many writers on randomc, I do hope someone would blog the occasional movie/ova or even game that isn’t necessarily related to another series. Still, [welcome all to class minus 13 randomc. The water here is shallow.]

      1. Nah, trying to refrain from going on…because of Croos 😀

I’m actually just trying hard not to procrastinate. ;A; It’s not working well as you can see but yeah, I tend to only go on irc a few times a week though.

      2. Loli… err. Saya-chan. Licking is a form of love. Non-abusive love! Well not really… but heck. IRC is a great way to keep awake in lectures, if only the timezones aligned properly… LOL still fun anyway.

  2. For those that missed out, you can always start your own blog. You don’t really need godly web design skills. By doing so, you can practice and develop your own unique blogging style and once you get good enough you can apply again next time if you want but hopefully with better odds.

The hardest part is persistence, which, also holds true for current writers of RC. Even if you don’t get many comments or page views, you should try and get a post in a timely fashion every week. A lot of people I know who tried blogging episode-by-episode don’t last more than 3 months.

  3. Hehe. Let the bullying commence, erm, I mean, welcome new writers. I just hope I can remember all 7 writers name + the current writers and identify their writing style with ease.

  4. Thank you Divine for going through all of those applications and selecting the 7 most promising ones out of those. I really can’t wait to see what we are getting :D.

Good luck new RC writing staff make Divine proud:D

  5. So we still count in Divine, we well have a total of 14/15 writers here in RC. With that numbers, does it mean that stalled projects like the “Retrospective Look” can be revived again? Or how about a “Post-season Review?” Hope we see a lot of new things. Clearly a new era for this website.

    1. Also with this much bloggers, maybe we can now also start blogging more manga, LN and games? I bet many here still didn’t know that Infinite Stratos had been discontinued in LN due to a conflict with the author.

  6. Well… with that number of bloggers joining, the site will be busy for sure.
Good luck to all the new bloggers.

Here’s hoping for some expanded cover in terms of Movies/OVAs.

  7. Re-reading your original intro post Divine, “What the heck did I just myself into?” indeed.

I’m sure the new writers will be great, as the recent additions of Guardian Enzo, Unlisted Verdant, and Stilts is any indication. I look forward to meeting the new writers.

  8. The best of luck to all new writers 😀
I’ll be gentle on forming opinions straight away hehe.. And I hope they will cover more anime movies, though I wonder how much demand there is for that.

  9. To be honest, guys?

I’ve changed RC as my homepage since Divine’s announcement. It’s not I’m abandoning it entirely. I just changed it back. I just need some time. To me it was sudden. I didn’t really see it because I haven’t covered any series this season and have stopped watching the few I am (Last Exile, Amagami SS) because I’ve just gotten busy with an overnight shift job and working more hours in my other hourly job.

So, here’s to the new writers, as one who have been on since the Omni days, let’s be friends, alright?

    1. Honestly, I’d be happy if Divine could continue to blog, even if it’s only one show per season. But considering the recent development with his job and all, that doesn’t seem likely, as much as I would love him to see blog Fate/Zero season 2, possibly the best anime of 2012.

  10. This week will be like Mirai Nikki: the writers reveal themselves one by one…only in the end they don’t end up killing each other…and none of the writers will be yanderes…I think.

    1. Funny you should say that, we’re implementing writer pit fights as the go-to method to resolve any disputes between the staff. We each get one weapon and a special power. Personally, I chose a shiv and sarcasm. Beat Unlisted in the first fight too, but then Verdant got me with his vampire powers.

      Nyahaha~! :3

  11. As one of the applicants who didn’t make it, I would like to congratulate those who made the cut. Seems like we have some really qualified people out there contributing in the near future. Looking forward to knowing ya’ll!

With this I honestly asked myself when will the next opportunity ever arrive, not anytime soon I guess.. In the meantime I shall start lurking appearing more often in an attempt to mingle around.

Ah well, that’s enough of me. Grats once again and thank you Divine for the hard work.

  12. I agree that RC is really at it’s prime right now and will just keep on getting better 😀

Especially excited for the female writers! Right now..I believe that we..don’t have any?

  13. Count me in as another who applied, but didn’t make it: congrats to the new writers! You guys will do just fine, and I agree this site needs a lot more different opinions. Will there actually be Shounen-Ai series covered, assuming there will be female writers? I’m curious to see.

  14. Yup, I also applied but didn’t make the cut (unless my email inbox is screwing with me again). It’s probably a blessing in disguise seeing as I’m not entirely comfortable with my writing style and blogging yet. So for everyone else that didn’t make it, just try and stay positive and keep at it at your own pace, or try again next time 😀

Also, best of luck to the new writers. I’m looking forward to seeing some female perspectives on different shows (not shounen-ai specifically). There are certain things that us guys just might not be able to pick-up on, so it will be nice to see these things come to light.

  15. I really hope we have a new lady blogger to add <3
Being a girl myself, it's be fantastical to hear chicks over dicks, rather than bros over ho's.

But don't worry boys I still love you for my favorite site that I honestly visit ten trillion times a day…and I can't wait to see our new addition 😀

  16. How did I miss this opportunity? Dam I was away on a charity hike and I missed a chance on blogging RC. Oh Divine will you still blog or are you just vainshing like Omni.
I feel so sad I missed out.

Well if another chance comes I will be the first to apply. Back to just being commentator on this wonderful site. I wish all the new blogger’s best of luck and hope you are good as Divine says.

    Dragonite88
  17. thanks divine for your hard work, Always love your writing. I’m sure the writer that are hand picked by you will fit right in. Hope to still hear from you every now and then even though you’re on a break.

  18. Before you take off Divine (or perhaps if you ever return for a visit) do you think it would be possible to get some of the old writers to give us an update on where they are in life now? I miss some of the old crew like Omni, Patrik, and Jaalin. I always just kind of wonder what happened to the old writers.

I sometimes miss the old Freeze Frame’s or Random Musings. Anyways, just me reminiscing I suppose.

  19. Divine, will you or someone else write up the new season’s previews?

Anyway, all the best to you Divine in your endeavors, I’ve been a reader since the days of Omni and I’ve enjoyed reading your posts and thoughts about many series through out the times. Hope to see you back after your indefinite leave of absence. 🙂

From a lurker who ventures out of the shell once in a blue moon.

      1. After a recheck, Unlisted did blog on the latest post. But for the title itself missing completely from the lists kinda bugs me. At least we still have RC banner ensuring its continuity ヾ(╹◡╹)ノ゙
