The situation for our heroes continues to turn for the worse. If there was any doubt about the ridiculousness of Bleach powers, Kirge’s Sklaverei should help erase those. Quincies have long been known to be able to absorb spiritual particles, but Kirge takes this ability a huge step higher as he reveals that he can completely subjugate said spiritual particles, making them part of himself and controlling them. Poor Allon is the first to undergo the procedure, and is defeated in quite a horrible manner. As a side effect, everyone’s favorite Nazi angel is transformed into a bulky abomination, and the two remaining fraccion are sufficiently shocked and flee temporarily into an illusion-like barrier along with Chad and Inoue.

Of course, the utter irrelevance of the fraccion is again made clear, as Kirge simply breaks through the barrier with his “overwhelming power“ (something that seems to happen far too often to barriers in general). He begins to absorb Chad and Inoue, and Ichigo shows up at precisely the right moment – obviously no coincidence. I’m thinking that his power might not work on Ichigo due to his high level of reiatsu, but Ichigo’s bankai probably won’t be very effective either, because of what Quincies can supposedly do to bankais. Kirge is becoming peeved though, which is usually a good sign in fights. It’s hard to say how this battle will go, especially whether or not Urahara is planning to provide some assistance.

  1. Jesus Mother of Powerlevels!

The first enemy Ichigo fights has all these abilities? And every enemy Quincy can use them too? Seems like it’s back to the Hyperbolic Chamber, Ichigo! Oh, um, I mean…Urahara’s garden.

I really liked how this Final Arc began setting everything, but it has sunk once again. And in the very first fight too, damn! I’m sure everyone is not as negative as me, so hopefully others are enjoying these developments. It was good to see Inoue and Chad’s skin get peeled off. Creative ways of violence are always welcome. That sounded very sadistic. Actually, am I the only one who’d like for Inoue to die a slow, gruesome death, and have Rukia take over for good?

Ohh, how I miss those Soul Society arc power levels, the adrenaline in speeding through those pages <3

    1. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has no use for Inoue as a character. I mean, does anyone remember how Aizen kidnapped her to complete the Hougyoku? Only to not use her to complete it? And then she resolved to be useful and destroy it? But then was useless and destroyed nothing?

Does every fight in Bleach have to be between all-powerful beings with no apparent weaknesses? Is anyone ever surprised when the opponent pulls an advantage out of his a$$ that he’s secretly been holding back this whole time? Who gives a crap about the two new shinigami characters?

      And how many panels of:

      キタ━━━(゜o ゜;)━━━!!!!!

      …are really necessary?

I used to love Bleach. I still love certain characters like Rukia. But the story? …Ugh.

  2. You know, I WOULD be worried that Ichigo might not be able to handle Kirge now that he’s powered up, especially since he always has trouble when he first encounters the first wave of new arc enemies (EX: Renji & Byakuya, Ulquiorra & Yammy)…except that Ichigo already trounced Ivan, who was team-killed shortly after, and Kirge just doesn’t seem to have enough personality to stay alive very long.

So either we get to see Kirge go on to be blandly crazy for a few hundred more chapters, or Ichigo’s about to prove just how overpowered he is.

  3. Well I guess Kirge is a Captain, so he’d be theoretically on a Shinigami Captain’s level or higher. I wouldnt say every quiincy is as strong as him. Only a few.

And man its like we saw the Quincy’s “bankai” and “hollow form” all in 2 chapters.

  4. Ichigo’s bankai is immune to absorption because it is ridiculously compressed into his own sword and body. His ‘final technique’ in the last arc completed that process to the point Aizen couldn’t even sense his spirit, remember?

That’s the primary reason Ichigo is one of the special weapons on SS’s side, and thus why Kirge is there to delay him from assisting during the invasion. We’ve seen that Ichigo has had a lot of practise at holding his power close ever since his first encounter with the Menos.

The other captain’s bankais are mostly huge, so the relatively low density of reishi makes those bankais vulnerable. Otherwise we’d be seeing the quincies sealing shikais as well.

It’s amusing to think that because the Captain Commander’s soul cutter was sealed that he could be even more resilient against the powers of the Quincy than previously.

They key thing to remember is that SS has very few members experienced in defending against the quincy’s reishi absorbing attacks, and that is the primary reason they are such a threat. They’re not ridiculously powerful on their own, but they can easily steal the power from those in the vicinity and draw from the environment.

  5. I had a lot of trouble figuring out what exactly was happening in this chapter, since the art does not help make things clear. I pieced it together after, but if this arc is going to be as important as it has been setting up, this needs to improve considerably.

    1. Lol the people at tgwtg are loads of fun. NC, Spoony, Todd, Linkara, AJ, etc. Most all of them are awesome.

Funnily enough YRuler, RolloT, LordKat, and JewWario all like One Piece the best out of the three. Marks of good taste.

  6. Well that was bloody super powered. The equivalent ability in their normal world would be the ability to control molecules. The SS might have a better chance if they tried to lure the quincies into the normal world.

The 3 possibilities i can see is that the role of who commands the body could be reversed by having the absorbed character have a stronger will take over from the quincy since the adsorption is wholesale or if the absorption has some sort of limit, overload that limit and explode them or be condensed to be unabsorpable similar to why sponges only absorb liquids. Other than that i can really see why the hell the quincies are so confident now.

    1. I doubt. Kirge didn’t go through any additional design change, indicating that he would have their powers aswell now. I think Ichigo interrupted him just in the right time.

  7. It’ll be funny if Ichigo gets absorbed but ‘somehow’ (looking at you Kubo…) manages to retain his consciousness and destroy Kirge from within… Just like what Goku and Vegeta did to Boo…

    Mixed Milkshake
  8. I really don’t get Bleach’s power level on individual characters. It seems like Kubo keeps changing them depending on the story and the situation. One day a character that the vice-captains struggled to defeat gets defeated so easily, and even with Inoue and Ishida, Kubo is being especially unstable with her. Despite claims that Inoue has high reiatsu she is always on the sidelines watching and getting injured despite having a shield. Now since this arc started we find out Ishida is waaay more powerful despite nearly dying during HM arc.

But I do admit, the story is getting intense and interesting.

    1. Heck what about Zaraki and Byakuya? They struggle against Ichigo before he gets his bankai/just after he gets his bankai and yet they go on to take Yammy down like a joke? Tousen’s a captain AND gets Hollowified but still dies to a head wound from a lieutenant? Or Halibel? She held her own against one captain and two Visored but is only #3 while numbers 1 and 2 get killed by a game-playing captain and a barrier Visored?

At least in DBZ you knew consistently that the ranking was something like this – Gohan (in theory) > Goku (actually number 1) > Vegeta > Badass Future Trunks > Piccolo > Goten/Kid Trunks (since I refuse to believe those two are stronger than Piccolo) > Krillin > Yamcha/Tenshinhan > Everyone else. In Bleach powers are – Main Villain (at the beginning) > Ichigo > Whichever character the audience likes at the moment > Everyone else.

  9. Ichigo looked slightly more bloodied than last time, so the Sklaverei must have affected him too a little
just not quick enough to enslave his Bankai’s attack before it could break his Halo

  10. This time is not about reiatsu strength or special abilities of bankai (or resurection), but about simply new technology 🙂
    Something new, Tite Kubo.
I think, this time if they want to win this war, soul society must turn down Quincy technology. An hour of research development head Mayuri Kurotsuchi.
(Maybe at last we will find out what Kurotsuchi found in Hueco Mundo – Aizen was prepering for that :))

    1. Should be instant win when that happens. Yama will because a giant muscular man like Master Roshi and shoot a kamehameha…I mean, Kido beam that pulverizes everything~!

  11. … Honestly Kubo, What good is a barrier if it cannot shield you from opponents more powerful than you ? Were the poor fraciones supposed to shield themselves only from weaker opponents ? -_- No wonder Orihime’s the weakest of the bunch.

    1. Gets weirder since this is a shonen series and in every shonen fighting series any enemy who couldn’t break through the barrier wouldn’t be able to hurt them in the first place. It’s like giving an aircraft carrier armor that only protects it from very small fish.

  12. I can’t believe that this is happening. It makes most people scream “WHY DO VILLAINS ALWAYS HAVE SUCH A HUGE ADVANTAGE”…..anyway, we can hope that this “angel” can push Ichigo to the point where he would finally use his mask.

I am hoping that this “Buckbeard” isn’t as ridiculously strong as Aizen. I can’t really tell if readers are really happy to see god-like villains always doing things too ridiculous.
