「星空の鍵」 (Hoshizora no Kagi)
“Key of the Starry Heavens”

What would you call Lucy? Lu-tan, Lu-chan, Lu-pi, or Lun-lun?

All this time, I’d expected the unknown exceed we’ve seen for so long to be a good character. It turns out that he is called Samuel (Uchida Yuya), and he is the leader of Legion! As far as I know, exceeds don’t have much power, although there are some exceptions, so when everyone in team Natsu attacked Samuel head on at the same time, I was a bit surprised. But Samuel is a clever character, he has brought another member of the Legion with him – Dan Straight (Kase Yasuyuki), a man wearing a knight’s armor while holding a spear that can change the size of anything it comes in contact with – including human beings (Natsu shrank), and a shield that reflects everything.

This episode was good, it was entertaining, had some story development, action, and of course – the silly comedy we’re so used to, but despite that, I found it a bit annoying to see Natsu’s team lose so easily. I understand that this arc will probably have some questionable moments, considering that this is a filler arc, plus, the heroes must have some disadvantages so they can make a good come back. But Erza going down like that felt ridiculous. I still remember the first time we got to see her – she came in carrying a big horn – probably bigger than the books falling at her… Oh well, there will always be questionable things in filler episodes. I’m not saying the fight was bad, it was just odd, but it was definitely fun to watch!

Dan is probably my favorite Legion member for now. His “romantic” moments with Lucy were hilarious. It was nice to see someone paying attention to Lucy for the first time in a while. The last time (that I can remember) anyone noticing Lucy’s sex appeal was probably around the Loke arc (I’m not including Taurus), correct me if I’m wrong. It’ll be fun to see how he will act in the future. While he clearly is fond of Lucy, he doesn’t ignore his duties. Legion got what they wanted – to find out about the myth written in the “Key of the Starry Heavens” book. Man, I’d love to have the fast-reading magic…

Leaving that, we now know who is behind the church attacks. It’s a character called Jackpot (Aoyama Yukata), and he is literally what his name means. I agree with Lahar – who is this clown? I noticed that Jackpot attacked a person in the church who held a key. Now I definitely know that this is connected to the manga. I can’t say more than that because I’d be spoiling you. All I can say is, that this definitely doesn’t seem like a filler arc anymore, although I’ve already said that in my post from last week.

Having that said, it looks like Lyon will show up next week, and Natsu will probably be stuck in his small form for a while, although, he is still as loud as usual, but that’s one of the things I love about him! I’m looking forward to next Saturday! Now, I’m off to watch ESC 2012!

Moete kitazou!

  2. Clothes made from flowers and construction paper; good one guys. Cana has really changed Gildarts’ character (lol). Natsu is going to be flying on Happy for a while. I’m guessing that Juvia will be imagining Gray to be small like Natsu from the looks of the preview. ^_- I can’t wait to see more Fairy Tail…until next week.

  3. Natsu and his team is losing so easily because of the time skip, they have the strenght of 7 years ago, that’s kind of average now.
It will make sense if you read the first few chapters of the manga after Tenroujima’s arc.
