「真夏の雑草取り/ペンギンさんのロマンス」 (Manatsu no Zassotōri/Pengin-san no Romansu)
“Weeding in the Summer/Mr. Penguin’s Romance”

Oh ho ho, I bet few, if not none of you saw that coming. Penguin-san’s crush goes out in a blaze of seven angry girls for maximum comedic effect. It’s something that can’t easily be replicated in a ‘human’ setting, at least not easily. What’s easier to believe? Seven penguins that look exactly alike or seven humans? I mean, we’ve all heard of identical twins, but identical septuplets is pushing the bar. Since the animal kingdom is full of species with indistinguishable members (at least to a human’s ability), this joke works and wins. Now, the real question is…how and why did Penguin-san make so many love letters, and how in the world did he get a 7 out of 7 to appear? He must be a darn good player (a naive one, but still) to have that much charm. If only he had asked out one…

However, this failure is a relief to everyone else on the show, who must remind Miss Sasako that it’s all a romantic and beautiful drama…until you end up in one yourself. Now that Penguin is done with his romance [his first and hopefully last in this show], SasakoxHanda can now take the stage! Any day now…it’s going to happen. Judging from how inexperienced Sasako is though, as seen by her commentary this episode…it’ll be interesting to see two awkwardly inexperienced people take the ‘romantic’ stage now.

In other news, everyone is lazy and a thick bum when it comes to yardwork, with the exception of Penguin, Sloth, and badass Grizzly. Although they tried to make some development here with Shirokuma and friends bonding together, the emotional hit was lost on me. It simply pained me to see Penguin-san trying to convince everyone to do some yardwork, get angry, and then get happy all because it’s ‘fun’ to mess around. It’s all good when you have a badass to cut your lawn, but in lack of that…it sucks. Personal experience. I wished they would’ve extended the problem a little more, rather than focusing on the antics of long lost artifacts and having multiple stomachs.

Next week, there’s a possibility of a new setting to arise! Although I have a fear that ‘mysterious shop’ may mean ‘Shirokuma temporarily transforms cafe into a flea market for the trolls’, here’s to hoping it won’t be so.

  1. Sasako-san in normal/casual clothes!
    Sasako-san not wearing a bandana!
    *dies*

Sloth was very enthusiastic in doing the weeding huh. I’m not sure about that stomach thing with Llama if it’s true. And Grizzly makes cutting weeds look so GAR.
The second part just killed me. A penguin harem. Very unexpected and so hilarious. Though are those 7 penguins okay with their salary by just working once a week? Panda works twice a week though…
I love this episode. Next week has more Grizzly which is good on my book. Even if it’s 100x times bigger or smaller, I’ll still watch this show lol.

    1. My mind got stuck on Sasako-chan wearing casual clothes. Too bad Handa-san wasn’t around. He would definitely have gotten quite a few love points, pulling weeds with her.

Only after hearing it from the “real customers” does Polar Bear want get rid of the weeds. lol
Ha llama’s and their stomachs. I really like seeing Penguin-san blush and get angry.
(I didn’t think rejections can come all at once for him. SIGH- Run for your life Penguin-san!) And I guess the group won’t be eating any more bread now. We’ll see Grizzly again next episode…nice. Ahh giant-sized orgami!! I must have them.
(BTW picture 28 has picture 31’s captions on it.)

  3. It’s bloody shame that a good show like this get only 6-7 comments while stupid mindless generic shows get 50+ easily. Some eroge shows gets 100+ comments easy. Bloody shame, it really is. Well, keep it up, ZANIBAS!

  4. This episode was the most hilarious one yet. Never get tired of Shirokuma trolling penguin, and hey, Sasako was really cute this episode! Casual clothes too!

I have a stupid grin all the time watching Penguin-san do this thing. Poor penguin, I probably would be doing what Sasako did too at the end if that were me. Gosh, these characters really grow on you.
