「キャンプに行こう!/ 女子高生とリンリン」 (Kyanpu ni Ikou/Joshikousei to Rin Rin)
“Let’s Go Camping!/Rin Rin and the High School Girl”

Kugimiya Rie strikes again as the unnamed high school girl, adding another all-star name to this show…as if the show didn’t have enough already. Her acting in the second half created a very enjoyable scene of “Rin Rin being an insensitive charmer“. I feel sorry for all of those girls who actually get caught in his obsessions…they’d never be able to catch up to his pace. I find it funny how Rin Rin talks to this girl the entire day…but doesn’t bother to ask her name at all! Apparently he’s never been on a date before, otherwise key details like changing the subject during conversation or even focusing on the person wouldn’t have flown over his head! Hopefully Rin Rin can find someone who can share in his…energy, and unnamed girl can well…forget this ever happened. Overall a great performance by both of them: the introduction of new characters these past few episodes have been a treat.

The first half on the other hand finally made connections which actually should’ve been obvious from the beginning. Grizzly and Penguin both enjoy drinking and are bad drunks, both need to be the straight man, both overreact, and both even enjoy fish! I suppose the lack of interaction between them was why such an obvious connection wasn’t apparent before. The pairing they have together works well and I wouldn’t mind seeing them team up again. This creates a balanced group composition that downplays the trolling with the straight pair, something that in the past didn’t work as well, but here works wonders. It’s so nice when different species can bond together so well!

Overall, the shipping and the borderline illegal are at an all time high here, with overreactions abundant for maximum comedic effect. We’re seventeen episodes in, and though it hasn’t been the greatest laugh out loud comedy, it’s still been one that has made me smile week after week. Next week, Panda is running away from home…though we already know he’ll fail before the day is over, and ghost stories will be told, most likely with one troll story told by our resident white bear.

He’s going to eat you Penguin!!! (Lol, just kidding)
I must admit that I enjoyed the camping part of the episode more because it just reminded me why I love each character for. Panda for just being lovable but at the same time a trouble-maker. Polar Bear being such a joker and being funny whenever a chance comes up (saying there was another tent after cramming into one was splendid). Penguin for being serious and reasonable when he’s not drunk or thinking of Penko…Pinko…or…. And Grizzly for being a hardcore friend and is reliable. Yes these animals are just lovable.
The high-school girl certainly did not change my opinion of Rin Rin. He’s still overly love-obsessive with Panda-kun. (It just cleared things up that he’s more obsessive with one Panda.)

  2. This is the reason why I love Shirokuma Cafe. It’s cute, simple and funny. And I loved Grizzly and Penguin, they really had their hands full with Panda and Shirokuma. And that part when they were drunk… I wonder how I would act if I was that drunk.

I also pitied the high school girl. When she thought that she got on a date with Rin-Rin, it’s actually just a LONG chat about how cute Panda is. And to be honest, I don’t get Panda. He likes it when people like him but he doesn’t like Rin-Rin even though the guy’s a huge fan. Please, if I were Panda I would be shocked too when it was a guy that actually sent me flowers but I would appreciate me. Sorry, but it’s been bugging me. Panda’s cute and sometimes funny, but he’s often annoying.

    1. There’s a difference between getting flowers every so often, and getting flowers every single day from a guy professing his love for you 24/7. Not everyone wants that kind of attention, and I’d argue if you want that kind of attention in real life, get a dog :p, or you might find that the human willing to give you that kind of attention might be too good to be true.

      1. I know that. Well, I would be a little bothered but not hate him or dislike him. I can relate to the guy because I get all psyched when it comes to yaoi or anime that I like, although I act like him to a lesser degree.
