So it would seem that the orb is not precisely a timer as I suggested last time, but rather a tally of the number of times Keima can repeat the conquest upon failure – something he doesn’t seem to have realised given his assumption it will be an eternal loop until success. Oddly enough, this only seems to affect Keima and not Elsie who once more acts surprised upon finding him in the body of a child. It also brings up the question as to why only Keima’s mind has travelled back (we see his body still in the care of the goddesses) whereas Elsie seems to have materialised entirely.

I also have to question why the goddesses chose not to tell Keima the specifics of his mission given that they evidently already know them. Supposedly he’ll perform better if he doesn’t know the rules of the game, but honestly, this just seems like a reason to keep us – the readers – in the dark rather than serving any true purpose for the story. What if Keima somehow failed to realise he had a limited number of chances and blew them? You’d think they’d at least warn him about that. In fact, there are probably several other warnings they really should have given since this is tampering with the past and we all know how wrong tampering with the past can go. At this point, I’m not sure whether I want to blame Wakaki or the goddesses themselves for being stingy with information.

The only other really notable thing to mention is our conquest target’s sudden transformation into a baby. What exactly might the trigger be? Is it time based? That seems a little unlikely given that it only a few moments passed between her meeting with Keima and her abrupt transformation. It seems more likely to me that it was something Keima did, perhaps showing her the orb or some other more subtle trigger. Like many of the other conquests he’s performed, it’s probably based around galge format, though this time a type with frequent, unpredictable bad ends. I don’t think we’ve actually been exposed to bad ends that much throughout KamiNomi so far, so it should at least be an interesting experience in that regard!

tl;dr: @MoombaDS – Time loops huh? I wonder how many bad ends Keima is going to experience before getting things right! #TWGOK

  1. 3 lives remaining. More than enough for Keima to do it but I’m guessing he won’t realize that he has limited tries until the last life.
It will at least give him attempts to map out possible routes and choices for the conquest, as he ended up in a bad end already. I hate it though when you get a bad end on the first try. And without a walkthrough for Keima. At least there’s a save point.
    Let’s see how this goes.

    Speedy post as usual :3
