I guess that Lal/Colonello pairing is officially canon! The two have pretty amazing chemistry and such a tightly-knit history together that it was only a matter of time before they became official. And what better timing? This chapter marks the shift in tone for Katekyo Hitman Reborn! to what looks to be its original gag humor and oddball comedy, complete with Tsuna back in his boxers.

Although it’s highly unlikely Tsuna will actually choose between Haru and Kyoko, the search for the future Vongola madonna will be an entertaining sight to watch nonetheless. Haru’s flag was certainly raised big time though, and I’ve come to find her oddity quite endearing through the course of the series as Amano seemed to get more and more comfortable experimenting with her character and giving her room to settle into the cast. Compared to some of the other female characters she has a lot more dimension that’s rather understated and (most likely) underappreciated.

Personally I don’t have anything against Kyoko, but she’s always come across flat and slightly difficult to connect with. She fits a very specific archetype and I can’t recall off the top of my head a moment where she did anything to distinguish herself from characters of similar ilk. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn’t create a very memorable personality, either. In addition, Tsuna’s infatuation with her seems to be just that – a teenage crush that doesn’t really have a rhyme or reason. So I’d be very surprised if it leads to anything serious by the end of this arc/series. At least Kyoko’s character is inoffensive enough that her presence can be glossed over without too much irritation; Haru is a sweet girl, but it took a while for her to get there. She was a hard pill to swallow when she was first introduced since she stood out a little too much – especially since it was obvious she was being set up as Tsuna’s possible romantic candidate.

It’s almost guaranteed at this point his attempts to confess to Kyoko with his dying will will be thwarted somehow though, much to the delight of the audience. Tsuna’s failure is going to be spectacular, and I can’t help but wonder who will be the one to burst his bubble this time.

      1. Exactly. Amano has written herself into a corner with this story, so I would guess that the time Reborn gets color pages, it’s over.

Medaka Box will probably end sooner than later, as well.

  1. I’ve always been a Haru fan but it’ll make more sense if Tsuna eventually settles down to Yuni.

Also, this is only a theory, but my guess is that we’ll be introduced to a new love interest, who ultimately holds another Hell Ring – lust perhaps?

  2. While I’m glad that ColLal became canon, I didn’t like how sudden it was and that we weren’t shown any further development.

This chapter was kind of painful to read. I found it too cheesy…

  3. I’m happy about the ColoxLal wedding. They were just so adorable together.

And I agree with everything you said on here. Except for the part where you said haru was hard to swallow up in the start XD I liked her from the start because of her open personality and always willing to help Tsuna out.

Unfortunately, even though I am a Haru fan (she is one of my favorite girl in the series), I say it will end with Tsuna and Kyoko despite her flat character. The story was always leaning towards these 2 which is very unfortunate. Kyoko is such a flat character for a shounen manga. It’s obvious she was only created to become Tsuna’s love interest (thus making him stronger by wanting to protect her). She almost seems like a character where the author is afraid to show her flaws/ or be seen as a character with flaws which makes her even more boring.

If this was real life Tsuna would have been far better off, and would have chosen Haru. But this is manga where some of the flattest most boring girl have, as fans would say, “won”. I do hope Amano would break away from the typical anime stereotype and let the most unlikely girl win for once but I don’t have that much faith in her so far (despite her amazing drawings (*___*).

  4. I dunno I just have a feeling he’ll end up with both. As for the series ending I don’t think so; everything is answer except for 1 more thing: the Cervello. I would of thought they we’re at least working for checkerface because it involve with the Rings but they have not appear for 2 arcs. Ya they are know to serve the rule of games or are they? I smell something really fishy about them.
