It’s fortunate that rescuing Dokurou seems to have acted like some sort of save point – it would’ve been a real pain if Keima had been thrown all the way back to the start of this adventure and had to capture her all over again. At the same time, it’s handy that Dokurou’s orb has apparently begun to regain its power and she’s also able to retain her memories of each loop in the same way as Keima – it gives some hope for getting more answers as the arc develops.

As I originally speculated, Keima’s purpose in this time period is to turn the current world into the one he remembers. I’ve already mentioned this in previous posts, but there are two obvious answers as to why this past is so different to the one Keima remembers. The first is that this could be an entirely different timeline – that he’s not directly trying to save his own world but another. The second, which I find to be the more plausible of the two, is that he just doesn’t remember this stretch of time properly since he wasn’t actually there due to being launched into his future body and somehow forgetting that part too. When he finally reverts to his normal body, things will have been changed to the point that he actually does remember.

But perhaps the most interesting thing to take away from this chapter (other than Dokurou’s beaming smile) is that we came extremely close to a Title Drop. Usually, this kind of thing is rather profound – does this mean that this will be the final arc in the Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai manga? Or was it just Wakaki taking the opportunity to use it for fun?

tl;dr: @MoombaDS – A title drop and another time loop! #TWGOK

  1. Silver Spoon went full title drop this week as well. Although, both of them probably aren’t closing in on an ending anytime soon with their new anime adaptations on the horizon.

    Oh, good chapter, btw.

This very well may be the case, especially if you read the afterword of volume 20 where he writes that he is now “starting to tie up the loose ends”.

Holy crap. I didn’t even consider that reason.

    Ingenious.

  4. What if, by changing the future, he creates a world where the spirits don’t leak and nobody remembers anything that happened? Then it would be The World God only Knows, because he would be the only one to remember…
