「できないんじゃない」 (Dekinain ja nai)
“It’s Not That I Can’t Do It”

With this, I assume we’ve reached the end of the arc dealing with Tsukuyomi Juju. It was certainly an interesting arc with plenty of ups and downs, and a whole lot more seriousness than any previous parts of Sasami-san@Ganbaranai. Despite her outwardly cold attitude and actions in some of the previous episodes, I actually quite liked Juju. She did seem to care, even if her feelings became a little warped after her death and Sasami’s betrayal. It was touching to see the past Tsurugi took the two through – the picture Juju treasured despite having to reprimand Sasami for it, her awkward confession to her brother, her earnest dedication to her role as a Tsukuyomi Shrine Maiden. The whole thing came to a bit of a head with her decision to recognise Sasami’s choices – that she had actually put thought into things and wasn’t merely acting as a spoiled child. It was a beautiful moment.

There was also something equally as thought provoking in seeing Tsurugi in her Amaterasu form seeking vindication from Sasami. On the one hand we have the humans who try much too hard and suffer for it, and on the other, the gods who don’t work hard enough and end up feeling remorse over it. But I’m with Sasami on this one – I would choose to believe in the picture the Yagami sisters have painted of the deities. They may not take things entirely seriously as evidenced by their personalities and actions over the course of the series, but when things get tough – when there are people who need saving or things to set right – they always seem to pull through. It’s not that they can’t be trusted to do anything as Juju believes, but that they require the correct motivation to get moving.

In the end, Kamiomi remains quite a mystery. This episode introduced two new characters, one of them being the student council president and ‘ojou-sama’ of Arahabaki, Edogawa Jou (Numakura Manami) who has rather an interesting reaction to him. Each week, the mystery surrounding him seems to deepen – just who is he? She names off three clans – Emishi, Tsuchigumo, and Kumaso, while trying to place him. The easiest conclusion to draw would be that she’s merely mistaken. But perhaps Kamiomi isn’t a real Tsukuyomi after all? What if he was adopted into the clan, or born from a union of two different clans, or maybe something else entirely? I’m hoping we’ll get some answers before the series reaches its conclusion!

tl;dr: @MoombaDS – A touching conclusion to Juju’s saga and the appearance of some new characters! #Sasamisan

Random thoughts:

  • Micchan is so cute, even when she becomes domineering!
  • Typically, Sasami’s sudden increase in weight was down to something rather silly compared to everything else occurring!
  • It’s kind of funny that Sasami was saved from worrying by having to deal with a perverted brother.
  • Is… his face visible there?

  1. I’m going to throw it out there but since Kamiomi loves Sasami a lot. But given how Juju referred to him as big brother. Is it possible that Kamiomi is actually Tsukuyomi the god.

Tsurugi in her true bishoujo Amaterasu form is so cute, I think I’ve fallen in love with this goddess masquerading as a loli.

Saitou Chiwa being able to voice ice beauty-roles like Senjougahara, lolis like Lucchini, and a mixture of both like HomuHomu helps make her transition from Tsurugi to Amaterasu and back believable. She also stood in as the voice of young Kamiomi in the flashback last episode.

      1. Um… yes… You’ve lost me. Nothing in that gives us any reason to doubt that he’s her brother. Given that he called her “nee-san” I don’t see why you’re questioning it.

  4. I’ve seen it all now – daughter give “birth” to her mother!!!

I really enjoyed this episode. But, I’m beginning to think there’s more to Sasami’s “brother”
than we’ve been told up to this point.

  5. Kyuubi is so cuteeeeeeee, curious to know what those two are plotting in the final arc, if only for the fact that we can see more of the adorable loli Kyuubi. =3

  6. I was surprised to see the story do a 180 concerning Sasami’s family situation. Unlike what we were lead to believe, Sasami’s mother cared deeply for her and despite the whole forced incest situation established to keep the power of Amaterasu in check, Sasami is actually a child born from love. Now it seems that the real oddity at hand is Kamiomi himself and how he actually fits into the Tsukuyomi family tree.

  7. And here I thought it was aggravating to watch Kamiomi hide his face behind everything! But now he’s got his face out in the open and we STILL can’t see it??? Haha, I love it but it drives me crazy. And there’s definitely more to him than meets the eye. I hope these new characters can help shed some light on his true identity. Aside from that, I really enjoyed all the heartwarming (as well as hilarious) moments in this episode. I think it’s funny how Juju brought some of the creepiest moments in this show as well as some of the funniest.

  8. Tsurugi is so cute ! so to clarify JUJU comes back to life by implant her flesh with in Sasami and use suprem god energy for rebirth lol a child gives birth to her mother that’s what karma are indeed.

  9. So now Sasami says she wants to let the gods out in hopes that they’ll learn how to take care of themselves? Is that right? It just seems like she’s totally changed her reasoning from a couple episodes ago.
