「プールサイド、血に染めて」 (Puurusaido, Chi ni Somete)
“Color the Poolside with Blood”

After last week’s fairly deep look into the relationships that all of our main characters share, this week’s episode treaded back toward the standard slapstick-y self. But if there is anything that we can take away from it, it would be that if you have a problem with someone the best way to deal with it is to trap them inside of an inter-dimensional room and remove any way to leave it.

Lame jokes aside this week’s episode didn’t really tackle any huge issues. Instead there was a little bit of everything for everyone — Nyaruko’s craziness, Cthuko’s super dirty sex positions, and surprisingly even Hasta got some time to hit on someone besides Mahiro! Disregarding the two main heroines, wasn’t it nice to finally see Hasta get more lines than just jealously complaining as either Nyaruko or Cthuko lust over Mahiro? But what might be the biggest surprise of the season might be the fact that Hasta actually has some game going on! Unless there’s some previous history between him and Luhy (besides what happened during the first season), he was handling that situation with her pretty smoothly. But something that most of us probably forget is that Hasta is actually a lot older than what he lets on. And seeing how both Nyaruko and Cthuko refuse to reveal their true age, it’s possible that Hasta has actually been working on his game for at least a few hundred years!

Overall though things turned out fairly normal. After a short hiatus, I half expected the writers to come out guns blazing but after finishing that last mini-arc with Ctuhko and Cthune I suppose it’d be a bit too quick to ask for something of that scale. That said, it looks like there’s going to be a new character next week! And judging from how she happens to be the only girl who we haven’t seen during the opening sequence right before the love-bomb explodes, I’m hoping she serves a more vital role than Cthune did.

  1. In the novels, there’s a love triangle between two mature ladies over Hasta.
I find it even more amazing that they actually put a Tom Hanks movie reference in there, among other reference that I’m just too stunned to react to, like the original Girl who Leapt Through Time.

“Kazuko Yoshiyama, a third-year middle school student, is cleaning the school science lab with her classmates, Kazuo Fukamachi and Gorō Asakura, when she smells a lavender-like scent and faints. As the book ends, Kazuko has the faint memory of somebody promising to meet her again every time she smells lavender.”

  2. I can’t even remember the references and there was some obvious ones.Well I was tired when I watched this episode anyways and it was around midnight.

The “new girl” is that loli from the first season…probably.

Going after traps is only setting yourself up for heartbreak Luhy, no matter how big of a shotacon you are lol.

    1. What I noticed was aside from Mahiro’s mom, Luhy looked very, very, very, very nice in that swimsuit. Then again, Luhy is hot either way (It’s the glasses!). And as far as the Luhy X Hasta ship goes, put Luhy beside Hasta’s powered up form and they do look good together.
