「ゴルフ」 (Gorufu)
“Golf”

Well that was a little different than usual! If anything, this week’s episode is a great example of just how powerful perception can be.

Goto-san

If I were to guess, I would have thought Tomoka (Yokoi’s actual friend from a few episodes ago) would have gotten an episode before some random girl — but heck what do I know? Getting back on track, I have to admit it was a little odd thinking about Yokoi and Seki-kun in a relationship. Besides breaking this vision I have of them endlessly going through their high school days bickering and not paying attention in class, I just think it’d be downright strange to see them together. While I wouldn’t say they don’t have any chemistry together, because they do have their moments, I don’t think Yokoi would be able to overcome all the embarrassment she’s had to endure.

Golf

While there isn’t really too much to talk about this week, I thought it was pretty awesome how Seki-kun managed to create his own personal mini-golf course. Incorporating the imperfections of the table as terrain to overcome and using the little nicks as holes, you have to hand it to him for being so creative in such an empty environment. You would have thought he’d have thought ahead enough to bring more than one golf ball though!

Yokoi and The Future

So Yokoi does understand she’s getting wrapped up in Seki-kun’s schemes! I never thought I would see the day that she would openly admit that but I suppose all it takes to surprise people is just a little bit of empathy. Sure Goto has the completely wrong idea about what’s going on between Yokoi and Seki but you have to hand it to her for at least trying.

While I doubt the events of this episode will play into future ones, it would be nice to see just how bad things could get with Goto spreading the wrong idea about the pair. Until that happens though, I’m assuming we’re going to go back to our standard style episode next week. Which I don’t mind in the slightest c:

  1. It’s exactly as you guess. I have read the manga, and the chapter this episode is based on was a standalone.

Chapters that break the formula do exist, but they are preciously few (I remember two or three, at most). It’s unlikely that they will pick another one for animation. We’ll prolly be back to “business as usual” next week.

  2. Having read the manga, I was wondering when Gotou would make her appearance… and there it was! During the manga she appears a few more times and I just loved her delusions…
