「遠くから君を見てる」 (Touku kara Kimi wo Miteru)
“Watching You From Afar”
This show seriously hurts me in all the right ways. It’s like I’m literally re-watching all the things I did back in high school.
Boy, do I remember when constantly texting the girl you liked was a thing. Before having any means of reliable transportation, it was like you got to be with them as you attempted to navigate that thin line of showing them just enough attention to make them realize you cared without going overboard and seeming needy. Except, when things got too serious, you then started to worry about what the other person was thinking as well as whether or not your words were misunderstood somehow. Which then led to that awkward moment where you start second guessing yourself and send texts that you totally regret sending moments after hitting the send button. God, just thinking about those moments where I was rolling around on my bed when things were going good and bad is triggering this awkward sense of embarrassment that I haven’t felt in a long time.
Moving on to the next skit, it was actually really scary just how well the situation matched up to something I’ve also done. Abandoning your close friend of the opposite gender because of this and that, developing a crush on someone else and being obvious about it, and then getting chewed out when the close friend admits that they really liked you the whole time but didn’t do anything about it because of whatever crazy scenario they imagined was something I never thought I’d see addressed in an anime. But lo and behold, Tsurezure Children somehow hits the mark and tackles that exact situation all the way to the point where I’ll actually get to see what happens afterwards (assuming a terrible fallout doesn’t occur after).
Finally, can we talk about just how adorable Kamine is? As someone who also over thinks and can play a certain situation out in my head a lot further than it could ever go in reality, I was deathly afraid that Gouda was going to actually break up with her. Luckily, that straightforward personality of his can work in either direction and we instead got to see a disgustingly adorable moment that almost made me shed a few tears of happiness.
With another episode down, I can’t wait to see where things go from here on out. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) it looks like next week’s episode is going to focus on some guys who’ve had their hearts broken. Hopefully it doesn’t end up being a giant pity fest (except in reality I can totally get behind an episode like that too).
See you then!
