「ヒューズ＝カザキリ」 (Hyuuzu Kazakiri)
You know I’m pretty sure at some point that everyone will admit they’re with Index just for Misaka (because biribiri tsundere shenanigans best shenanigans), but I’ll be damned if Accelerator isn’t moving up the scales. Who are you and why are you here indeed: it could be the calling card of Index’s third season, because if you’re honest you have to admit not even the most diehard fan could probably keep all these developments straight. Everything is now moving at the speed of light, and with only two episodes to go, you can expect the momentum to only increase.
While I could likely go on for hours about Index’s unique approach to Tetris-like scriptwriting (read: as much as possible in as short of time as possible), the fun isn’t as much in tearing things apart as enjoying the chaos, and oh boy did we get more of that this week. Case in point in the sense of place and distance suddenly making itself felt, as what looks like a multi-kilometer island appearing to be only a few meters across. Weren’t we just battling over Church #116 in Sector 6? Nope, because we’re actually over Section 8 and rapidly moving outwards. And by outwards I mean 20 minutes away over the
Polar Vortex wind swept steppes of Mother Russia. How did we get there so fast? How did Gabriel(a) find the cackling madman himself? Why isn’t the tragically sidelined Misaka involved in this latest showdown of pseudo-scientific projectile motion? God only knows, but at least the (visual) results are a treat to look at. Don’t deny, you know flying Accelerator is best Accelerator after all.
Barring the fun of watching things collide though, we did get some more heartfelt developments this week as well. Accelerator for example has pretty much embraced his inner daddy, going all out for the cute verbal tick pipsqueak who really needs to wake up and comically berate the guy already. Yeah yeah, Acqua also had his moment to
bleed shine, but seriously, it was all Accelerator and his selfless actions this week. Well, ok, and Shiage’s adventure too, although that kid has a hard time not shining of late. Level Zero and single handily helping save both Rikou and innocent Russian villagers alike: someone is quickly proving his main character credentials. Best watch your back Touma, no matter how much those one punch moments may look from time to time, you now got some competition when it comes to being the loyal male lead. Particularly since it looks like one explosive character looks set to make a reappearance.
If you thought Index was crazy already best batten down those hatches boys and girls, because what comes next in this climax is going to be wild.
