「River Deep, Mountain High」
At least there was a cliffhanger.
That’s as much positivity out of me this week. I’m a little saturated by the heavily auto-tuned songs and generic, even stereotypical personalities, of the various performers. Carole, Tuesday, and Angela are the only performers who seem to have a bit of humanity left. Carole and Tuesday are a grounded pair and Angela… well, there’s more there than I thought. What was that about an empty vessel making the most noise?
Let’s say I take a step back from the actual story and look more at the construct of the series, I can appreciate the comment about technology and how it’s automated almost all aspects of our lives. People are becoming more and more self obsessed, losing touch with their environment, creating realities and personalities as they see fit (for the fame).
The music in this episode was also heavily auto-tuned, a lot less acoustic, and a reminder of how music sounds today. The lyrics are shallow, the melodies lack depth, and they provide very little progression – pretty much like everything playing on your most popular local radio station.
It would be unfortunate if the girls don’t make it on stage after this sabotage attempt. Maybe their amateur style I complained about only a few days ago might be the fresh air I need. Hopefully this doesn’t end Tuesday’s musical career. These are the consequences for being too compassionate towards very emotionally aggressive beings. I’m assuming Cybelle is the culprit. She’s the only one who would have the time to plan something like this and only she would know of Tuesday’s birthday. Or at least, that’s what I think. Even if Angela’s mom would want to sabotage C&T, the timeframe to plan it out was too short.
They might have to forfeit, but maybe Pyotr’s narcissistic live stream will be grounds enough to disqualify him and put the girls back in the spotlight.
