「危険なダンジョンに入ってしまった…」 (Kiken na Danjon ni Haitteshitmatta…)
“I Entered a Dangerous Dungeon…”

New week, new Bakarina—and new isekai arrival? That’s right, Sophia has joined the alternate world otome game party, or well partially, because we’re still missing the bonk on the head and the grand revelation for proper introductions. Not like Hamefura made any real effort to keep it hidden either, but with the portent of adorable universe-spanning friendship now upon us, we are truly in store for some amazing fun and games.

After the gauntlet of character introductions and backstories, Hamefura has largely settled into a normal regime. Bakarina receives new challenge; friends in varying capacities attempt to help (or hinder) her and/or each other for relationship-building brownie points; Bakarina does Bakarina things to win the day and make everyone happy; rinse and repeat for another week. You’d think the formula would grow stale after the first few times, but when you’re handling grade-A dork it’s always a pleasurable experience. After all, you’re dealing with a girl who doesn’t require any envious competition to fully upend an otherwise normal romance event—and winds up getting the spirit of a mage (or something else) smitten with her Bakarina-ness. Who knew spontaneous mushroom hunting would be the path to success.

What I’m really looking forward to, however, is the portending interference with the currently set pairings between the main cast. For all that the betrothals between Katarina and Georgo and between Mary and Alan are set in stone, I seriously doubt they will be left alone without some turbulence for too long; when Keith is one step away from leashing the beast and Mary has gone full Bakarina idolizer, you know things cannot stay the same for long. As time goes by something is going to rip into these matches and really make things interesting, especially when you know exactly how Katarina is going to react to the proceedings. Anyone’s guess what event that will be, but considering Sophia’s own origins and the rise of Mama-rina as the true end boss, I don’t think we’ll have to wait long to find out.

After all, it doesn’t take much with this girl to upend the apple cart.

      Pancakes edit: spoiler tags added

pss. i have no idea how to tag it with spoiler tag, there used to be instruction on every post how to do it, but after the redesign it’s one of the things that vanished.

      1. The spoiler tags have not changed since the site update, same html tags are used—i.e. <*spoiler> <*/spoiler> (without the * of course). Putting the instructions back in is on the site to-do list!

  1. Not like Hamefura made any real effort to keep it hidden either

As a novel and manga reader, this sounds incredibly ironic XD

No, seriously, in the original source the clues about Sophia’s past life weren’t as blatant as in the anime, and the reveal happened much later. In fact, most of this episode is anime-original. The dungeon exam, for example, didn’t appear in the novel or the manga. And they expanded a lot on A-chan’s story.

I approve of what they did with A-chan. In too many Isekai stories, hardly a thought is given to the people who are left behind. Truck-kun isn’t such a funny plot device when you have to go to your best friend’s funeral.

    1. Fully agreed, the reveals helped a lot with character building and also teasing some future developments on the part of Katarina (e.g. the black shadow). It’s very likely this is a way to just leave a suitable jumping off point at the end to encourage viewers to go read the source material, but you never know!

  2. Hm, I thought that the shadow might be the student council president.

Sophia’s backstory was cute, looking forward to her full awakening. They didn’t show how she isekai’d though, unless she died of old age.

  3. I couldn’t stop laughing when Keith said “Leave this one to me, Sister!” in 200% + manlier voice (Picture 22). I thought Alan being a Tsundere would be my favorite character, but Keith has been one of the best character so far. IMO.
