“Corrupt Ritual”

Alright, now I’m concerned. Bath time straight into demonic ritual orgies? Whatever happened to the essentials of post-act ablutions? Oh, what’s that, no acts were forthcoming you say? Well ask Lumachina about that one. Any time tongues are involved you know you’re looking at problems. And not necessarily the good kind.

Probably to no one’s great surprise, Batutta was a little off his rocker. Albeit in a somewhat understandable sense. While corrupt church officials reveling in blasphemy is a tale as old as the church institution itself, I have to give some kudos for Batutta largely doing the naughty all for the sake of putting Fanis in her place. Want to put an overbearing and greedy local ruler who’s more than willing to play dirty where they belong? Best be willing to fight fire with fire. Of course it’s not like Batutta also didn’t have his own delusions of grandeur he let slip at times (and born in part from his choice of subordinate), but this was, once you get down to brass tacks, pretty much business competition at work. At least until Diablo spoiled the fun.

Speaking of Diablo, colour me impressed too with Isekai Maou’s continued willingness to show off his vulnerabilities. The fight with Batutta for example was never going to end with Diablo actually losing, but putting him on the backfoot and forcing him to think and improvise is a nice way to colour over the usual OP machine shenanigans (besides letting Shera show off her new Medusa buff). Such stuff never has to be much; insert a couple of wrong moves, make the isekai lead take a step back every now and then, and your power trip gets a good amount of flair to dilute its base origins. The real fun for me though will be how this trend continues into Diablo’s upcoming fights; given we now have awakened demon lords being teased alongside certainly powerful generals in Varakness, there’s a decent chance we get a battle or two that gives last season’s Fallen showdown a decent run for its money. No guarantees obviously, but as Isekai Maou has shown plenty, Diablo’s day just isn’t complete until someone tries to mess with his harem.

Running bets on what’s contained within his personal dungeon that’ll be the next batter to step up to the plate.

So the Head Priest have also now this Disease. Since she can not heal her own Body just others. Why do not they use some sort of Mirror Effect Spell on her? i mean, She request the Blessing for her Mirror image and the effect (Like in some MMO’s) falls back on her. This only works with the help of the Demon lord here.. Once thought to use for Defense only, can save her

        1. Well, if they want to walk the more darker path. Why they are so desperate to “laid” the Head priest? because of her Direct Connection to God? Well, if she in the End get pregnant (Holly Mother!) in some ways. i do not hope that she use her Power to keep the fetus save from Darkness and she died in her/his place.. that would be totally not okay, do you hear me?

Trow this idea overboard, never ever pick it up

    1. Agreed. I mean it’s okay, but I thought the first season did a much
better job of story telling and new character introductions than this
      season has done so far.

Also, I haven’t read the source, but is this the “forgetful” kind of story
where the author “forgets” powers / skills he gave his character
when a new villain appears. Like, what happened to his “Dark Bullet?”
Wouldn’t that have worked against Batutta?

Anyway, I’m trying not to take too much at face value and enjoy
the good parts as they are…

      1. IMO I think a lot of it is down to familiarity. The first season is heavily viewed through nostalgia goggles given how long ago it aired (not to mention how “fresh” it felt at the time before the string of similar isekai/fantasy ecchi series), so it’s not too surprising this season feels off. It’s partly why I turn my mind off when watching this, easier to find enjoyment when not tearing it apart!

As for the powers I think that’s part of the reason, though a lot of it is likely down to needing Diablo encounter challenges. This isn’t the type of story where you can have him effortlessly walk over the competition (it would stretch audience disbelief too much), so the author is forced to concoct situations that challenge him regardless of known abilities. There’s a reason ecchi scenes are played up so much in place of other developments.
