OP9: 「Merry-Go-Round」by MAN WITH A MISSION

「いざ!エンデヴァー事務所」 ( Iza! Endevaa Jimusho )
“Off to Endeavor’s Agency!”

Hawks really does his fair share of the dirty work. At least he seemed to receive recognition for it. But killing Best Jeanist would be a step too far. I reckon we’re probably looking at an elaborate hoax to trick the League of Villains into thinking that Hawks is ready to join their ranks. Because I really doubt that he would murder another hero like that – even if he is prepared to stoop down and carry out crimes for the sake of his infiltration mission.

But if he really did just off Best Jeanist, we can agree that Hawks would be treading a path with no return, even if his intentions are heroic and noble in spirit. However, it was crucial that he obtained information that a Liberation Army consisting of 100,000 followers is planning to upend society. Endeavour might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but thanks to Hawks making his secret message obvious enough, he’s able to catch on. Now we just have to wait and see how Endeavour chooses to prepare for the attack, as well as how Hawks will proceed with his infiltration.

Finally, I wonder how Deku, Bakugo and Todoroki will factor into the equation, given they’re currently on work placement at Endeavour’s agency. And I was quite impressed with how they were able to keep up with Endeavour while he sprinted through the city.

As All Might explained, this will definitely constitute a valuable experience for all three aspiring heroes – even if it looks like a hectic, corporate trading floor, with personnel franticly running around making things happen. Even a hero like All Might never operated on his own – relying upon a support network to facilitate his heroics. So it is important for Deku, Bakugo and Todoroki to familiarise themselves with the kind of environment they will end up fronting as exceptional talents from their generation of heroes. And although Endeavour might have been a terrible father, from the likes of Hawks to Burnin on top of his current status as Number 1, there can be no doubt that he’s a great hero who has established a fantastic agency support network.

But as usual, I’m more than certain something huge will happen for the trio, even if they are under Endeavour’s watchful supervision. There never seems to be a quiet moment in Musutafu. As always, thanks for reading this post and see you all next week!

    1. Yeah but they have an annoying habit of leaving out certain scenes from the manga. Like the one scene from Overhaul’s backstory that better explains his motivations and the little flashback with Shirakumo the old friend of Aizawa. Oh and their decision to adapt this arc before MVA.

      1. I agree with the reorganization of the story. Adapting MVA first would explain exactly why Hawks is doing what he’s doing. The way this is being adapted is leaving out key contextual information.

        1. Then perhaps that’s intentional ATM? Raising the audience’s suspicion of Hawks could be the goal here. Bones is too smart to leave out MVA arc entirely. We’ll have to wait and see, because at this point it’s the kind of decision with no clear consequence on whether it’s good or bad.
