「サルワさんは癒されない…」 (Saruwa-san wa Iyasarenai…)
“Saurva Can’t Catch a Break…”

The latest episode of Jahy-sama wa Kujikenai! actually gives Saurva somewhat of a break as she gets some sound advice and has a relaxing onsen experience in spite of her feud with Jahy. But while Saurva bides her time for her revenge, Jahy has her own brand of justice she’s been waiting to dole out as she plans her next steps to defeat the magical girl Kyouko.

It was funny to see Saurva maneuvering around the hot spring a week later the segment initially aired. Instead of trying to link it within the same episode, it made it all the more hilarious to find out what was going on behind the scenes as we were also ignoring Saurva’s existence just as much as Jahy was.

But even with Saurva’s plans to overtake Jahy, it is nice to see her make some form of positive progress on Earth. She might’ve had a tough time navigating around the bathhouse to avoid Jahy, especially when she starts dipping into her expensive shampoo. After that initial brush-in, however, she was still able to have a good time, have a nice bath, and run into the Barkeep she had grown fond of.

Saurva’s next segment also gave Jahy some development to work with as she reflects on her own personal struggles. Because they don’t recognize each other, Jahy uses her personal experiences on Earth to have a heart-to-heart with Saurva, and ultimately provide her with the motivation to keep on keeping on with her goals. The irony of Jahy unintentionally encouraging Saurva to continue pursuing her might be hilarious, but it is a wholesome moment where the two are able to reach common ground by being transparent about struggling on their own.

At the same time, Jahy’s pride does come into play when she has multiple times where she has to determine whether she wants to swallow her pride and ask for help. She was quick to shoot down Saurva’s onigiri, but her conversation with Ryou shows signs of growth as far as coming clean about her problems. By opening up to Ryou about having to booby trap her house out of fear of the magical girl breaking in, it gave her time to confide with Ryou about what she’s been going through and what’s been worrying her outside of affording her rent. And even if Jahy was adamant about handling the matter herself, it was cute to see that Ryou took her words to heart and bumped up security so that she can feel safe in her own apartment.

  1. When you see Saurva and Jahy in the same scene, doesn’t it kinda give the vibe they’re sisters? Same hair color and similar appearance, but one is tomboyish with short hair and the other is tanned with really long hair.

    Gawrshness
  2. Loved the episode, as usual. From Saurva POV of the bathhouse scene, to Saurva getting advice unknowingly from her nemesis in person, to Jahy literally painting herself into corner with traps designed to defeat Magical Girl.
Also Jahy gets some positive development considering her talk with Saurva….
