「渋谷に響く歌」 (Shibuya ni Hibiku Uta)
“A Song That Rings Through Shibuya”

Two songs in one episode?! What an absolute treat this was. Even though Wien’s song had that dramatique flare. I would compare her song to something akin to a black swan musical or something like that, it’s not exactly the type of song you should bring to the semi-finals of a Love Live competition. And I say that with tons of love because her song in fact was quite good, it had that slow start, but soon enough picked up with both lyrics and melody. It even had a couple of verses where the lyrics were fast enough to catch my attention. I’m not saying it was bad, but I mean the Leilla girls brought their A game, both in the song they applied with, and the song they performed during this first Love Live stage.

Chance Way was and will continue to be my favorite song that came out of this S2 of Superstar

Speaking about Liella, let’s get into their song. An incredible happy-go-lucky tune that lifted my soul and cured my depression. Not only that, Wien, didn’t change her outfit for this presentation, meanwhile, the Liella girls had outfit changes for almost every single song they performed during this season. I mean if anything the winner is clear. Liella’s song was uplifting with a soft pop melody that was easy to listen to while at the same time bringing a smile to my face, they really went all out because the song represents all the things that they went through in this season, all the difficulties they went through and had to overcome, all the turmoils, twists and turns of navigating high school, while at the same time wanting to create something they could be proud of and sort of leave behind as a legacy.

As we saw with Sunny Pa, their rival group that unfortunately wasn’t able to get into the Love Live because s certain someone apparently out-staged them. The girls at Sunny felt like they lost time and didn’t do enough, furthermore, they only have two more years to perform at the competition so their time is running out. It’s a sentiment that reflects what the Liella girls are striving for. And as a mirror, it reflects all of the anxieties and important decisions that they had to take during their training.

It’s certainly hard for the Liella girls especially because of the new years, that were introduced during the first part of the season. Now all together they really form a unique group and one that I can say I certainly love all of them. Even if I had some qualms with some of them, I can say I have gotten over it because that’s just their personality. And the creators, I think, don’t want to dive too deep into their character because it would bum out the series or something like that. I have no clue what the real reason is, and can only speculate. However, maybe some executives decided against it or something.

Whatever the case, I’ve gotten comfortable with the Liella group, and personally, I think it might be the best one, not only is there something for everyone to enjoy, and choose their favorite waifu (not me) but also live vicariously through them, as I do while watching the show. For me watching Love Live is more of a watch; about seeing cute girls doing cute things, yes. But also cheering for them and wanting them to succeed in whatever it is they do. For me, it’s more a yaas queen type of situation if you catch my drift. But the demographic is not that. Let’s leave it there for now.

Anyway, with only two episodes left, and the new Fall ’22 season starting we are certainly going to be busy during the next couple of weeks. But for now, we will see Superstar all the way through the end.

Let’s not forget this episode was Winter in Fall, as the girls head up north for another training camp, even going around and enjoying themselves, having heartfelt moments in between playing around, and having fun because it’s also important to have fun while on vacation even though it wasn’t really a vacation, it’s important to have those days where you do nothing but play around. That part of the episode was really fun to watch, and watching the dynamics play off each other was just the cherry on top.

Once again I don’t really dislike anyone, so that makes Liella the best group to have ever graced Love Live, or something like that.

I personally loved how they left the cliffhanger on who is 2nd since that’s what they were ultimately aiming for, to jump out of second and go into 1st. But I mean personally, I think the race has already been won, however, we will have to wait until next week to see who the winner actually is, here’s hoping Liella gets their well-deserved first-place win!
