「リップル護衛指令」 (Rippuru Goei Shirei)
“The Order to Protect Ripple”

How do you know when Eiyuuou is gearing up for a new arc? Is it the fighting? The adorable faces? The undeniable fact feisty little breast monsters herald the oncoming wave of cute and funny? Honestly probably a combination of all three, but I like to think it’s all down to the last one mentioned. After all, every clock is right twice a day.

Much as could be deduced last week, the main challenge (per say) of Eiyuuou’s latest arc is going to be the rescue of Ripple. Why does she release monsters whenever mana levels reach max? Who even bestowed – or shall we say forced – such an ability upon her? Yeah yeah, obviously Highlander influence provided Ripple with that dubious distinction, but there’s still quite a bit regarding the exact organization/person behind it and the ultimate objective of such a move. It’s one thing to want to keep the Lowlanders effectively enslaved as the Highlander Hierarchy is wont to do, another thing entirely to actively seek out their destruction when still in need of their resources – we’re still missing that piece of the puzzle giving reason for the latest escapades.

The one bright said of said mystery, however, is that it lets Inglis get up to what she does best: kick the ass out of anything so much as twitching. For all the narrative repetition of these moments, I must admit still getting a kick (heh) out of Inglis resorting to physicality whenever a new character appears. Proud and arrogant senior out to reinforce his smug sense of superiority? Nothing some enthusiastic mistakes cannot fix. New and mysterious girl appears with impressive slapping abilities? Best lock down that future fight while the getting is good. And I don’t think I need to elaborate further on Ripple encouraging the battle addict or teacher and emissary both adding fuel to the fire. It’s all tried and true material at its core, but as long as Eiyuuou keeps up the fun and funny I don’t see it becoming stale anytime soon, especially in the last chunk of this season.

Plus don’t forget, still have a least one more boss fight before all is said and done. I dare say that moment won’t prove boring in the slightest.
