When high school idol Nakagawa Kanon (Touyama Nao) turned out to be so self-centered that she needed everyone groveling at her feet to feel successful, I loved watching every minute of Keima not giving a crap about her and staying absorbed in the 2-D world. In the back of my mind, I was all, “Yeah, you ignore her Keima!”, but had to draw the line on denying her existence and making her disappear. Now that’s just going too far. o_O

“The Crusade Happening Over There”
There’s gamer pride over maintaining one’s reputation and then there’s obsessive compulsive disorder. In Keima’s case, the line between the two blurs badly when’s he’s faced with the buggiest romantic simulation game ever and still tries to get through it. While it wasn’t quite Endless Eight, there was a lot of looping going on as well. For those with traumatizing memories of that Suzumiya Haruhi debacle, don’t worry, it was actually funny here.

“Drive My Car / A Party Like That”
So it turns out the secret to dancing (and how everything in the world works) is the infamous Konami Code, or at least that’s what any avid gamer will probably conclude. Between that and the big Zaku head bicycle carriage, I wasn’t sure what made me chuckle more like a big geek, but watching Keima work his magic on the surprisingly poor Mio as well as Elise whine about not being able to wear a cute outfit made this episode one to remember.

I don’t know what Keima’s on, but who wouldn’t want a cutie-pie like Elsie as their younger sister? As a bonus, she’ll even join you in the bath to scrub your butt. Those demon cleaner girls seem to be pretty kinky with their magical pink garments down in hell.

It’s a bit unusual to see Manglobe take on a series that can easily come off as a high school harem series, but that’s exactly the what we have with “The World God Only Knows”. The only other series they led the production for with character designs even close to the ones seen here was Seiken no Blacksmith.
