Persona 4 the ANIMATION – 21

「DON’T SAVE ANYONE ANYMORE」

Yuu has more lines in this episode more than he did in all twenty previous episodes combined. At least it feels like he does!

Persona 4 the ANIMATION – 20

「We’ll all meet at the AMAGIYA Hotel」

Until Hanasaku Iroha’s second season comes to fruition, I guess I have to make do with watching Ohana Yukiko come full circle and finally accept how much her family inn means to her – which combined with Yuu and the boys’ hijinks and hilarity, make this episode of Persona 4 golden (excuse my terrible pun).

Persona 4 the ANIMATION – 19

「It’s School Festival Day! Time to Have Fun!」

Unspoken anime rule #62 – all series set in high school must have a festival day episode. Good thing too, because I think I just watched one of the most hilarious school festival episodes ever – courtesy of our Comedy Investigation Team.

Persona 4 the ANIMATION – 17

「I Want to Know the Truth」

Future harem leads, pay attention to Persona 4, as it contains an example of a character you should emulate – and one you should not (Yousuke, I’m looking at you).

Persona 4 the ANIMATION – 16

「Although the Case Was Closed」

One thing that separates great detective stories from good ones is the creativity of the “traps”. Now I’m not necessarily saying that Persona 4 is a great detective story by any means, but how many of you concentrated so much on looking for the usual places that traps exist (like false suspects and misleading evidence) that you failed to realize that the detective themselves may be a trap?

Persona 4 the ANIMATION – 15

「The Long-Awaited School Trip」

Sadly, the Investigation Team’s school trip to Gekkoukan High School and Tatsumi Port Island may be the closest we’ll ever get to seeing an animated version of Persona 3.

Persona 4 the ANIMATION – 12

「It’s Not Empty At All」

Never before have I been so completely tricked by an episode like this one. Never before have I had my emotions swing 180 degrees from disappointment to amazement, all in the space of one episode. How?

Persona 4 the ANIMATION – 11

「Catch Me If You Can」

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When bears turn into boys, eat popsicles? This week’s episode was all about surprises and persevering through them, and even though I already knew most of the forthcoming revelations, this adaptation added enough of its own touches to keep things interesting.

Persona 4 the ANIMATION – 10

「Real Me Doesn’t Exist」

Sometimes, we don’t know who exactly our true self is, but just knowing that one exists and having the resolve to find it out can be just as important as its eventual acceptance. Both Rise and Kuma weren’t as lucky as the others, who had Shadows that spelled out exactly who their true self was, but they do share the determination to discover it. This mere realization is enough to awaken their Personas.

Persona 4 the ANIMATION – 09

「No one sees the real me」

Most celebrities aren’t allowed the simple luxury of being able to shape their public identities by themselves. They’re usually surrounded with a cadre of publicists and managers who meticulously plan every aspect of their public appearances, and while some might not mind and even welcome this influence, Kujikawa Rise (Kugimiya Rie) is not one of those people.
