OP Sequence

OP: 「蒼き炎」 (Aoki Flamme) by 高橋洋子 (Takahashi Youko)

ED Sequence

ED: 「マーキャリー☆GO」 (Mercury☆GO) by ステッキンと愉快な仲間たち (Stekkin & Yukai na Nakama-tachi)
I haven’t heard a Takahashi Youko song since Shakugan no Shana ended. Her music always sounds so exciting and this OP has quite a punch to it. The dog running ending reminded me a little of Wolf’s Rain’s ED, but just a little. Otherwise the ED was just cute.

-The blue lantern reminds me of The Green Lantern… Seriously though, that action sequence with Orlando vs. the tank was pretty cool.
-Gonzo did a superb job on the animation for the first episode. Didn’t really care for the CG parts, but everything else was fantastic.

  1. wow! yeah i almost forgot that its takahashi youko did the op of this anime + the ed of SNS very promising!
as for the anime, nice quality! very sharp and clear! most of all the cute doggy XD
well as for a change this will be a nice anime of some military -based anime.

  2. Pumpkin Scissors was just upgraded from “maybe I’ll watch this” to “definitely” 😀

Postwar recovery (which was what made me originally curious about this series) + interesting main characters (nearly laughed out loud when the girl drew her sword and quoted RK-Hajime Saitou (“Aku Soku Zan”) – also getting some Kenshin vibes from the protagonist). Besides, its firefight was a nice change from the usual “firing accuarately 2 pistols/SMG while making backflips” – Black Lagoon is nice and all, but sometimes its nice to see something different 😀

zaira: So its the same singer as SNS ed? No wonder it kinda sounded familiar

  3. I must be the only one not liking this. I thought the art was ugly. The animation was good but the character designs aren’t. This is nothing special IMO. Just your average anime.

  4. This looks interesting to me; the trailer really piqued my curiousity, and the screenshots help, too. The character designs bring to mind FMA … though the outfits make me think of Last Exile. Thanks for posting on it! ^^

  5. Looks interesting, somehow I’m getting FMA (must be Alice cus she looks like Winry) and Kenshin (note the main character w/ scar on his face) vibes from this show. Still, looks like this one has potential.

P.S. take care of yourself Omni; don’t push yourself too hard 🙂

  6. The story, from what I guess, Show Spoiler ▼

actually, I think his second personality (apparently triggered by activating that blue lamp) is kinda like Kenshin’s Battousai personality – no qualms about killing, no feelings, extreme resistance to pain, enhanced combat ability, etc.

  7. Definetly has my attention. I thought it might be intresting when I saw the preview for it, but now it’s definetly on my watch list. Though I do have to say, Gonzo’s cg still isn’t all that great to me, but I can get over it. Also, I love the coats. Here’s to a show with a lot of potential!

  8. So far, so good. But its hard to tell If I’ll like it based on this one episode. But I’m leaning towards the “I like it side”. Is it me, or does this look better than Gonzo’s NHK effort.

  9. Subbed by Eclipse I see, after its stint with Shakugan no Shana.

I’m still apprehensive about the series because this surreal WWI world and a seemingly lack of focus and general intrigue just doesn’t really grab my attention.

I give gonzo kudos for its better than average animation though.

  10. Mmm…the first episode was interesting. Very clean cut animation, and the main female character is quite likeable(at least she seems to have a brain), I think I might add this to my ‘to watch’ list.
